First off, congratulations to @amanning2011 on the birth of her baby girls last week! Hope you all are doing well!

AFM, This Wednesday I'll be 35 weeks with the twins! On Friday we had another growth scan and they were each about 5 lbs (baby boy just under, girl just over), and lemme tell ya, walking around with 10 lbs of baby in you is not a picnic! But on the plus side, they're still doing great, and we're currently projecting them to be over 6 lbs each by birth which is BIG for twins. Yay!...? Also, we figured out the 'solution' to my BP issue. The doc said I can just have them take it towards the end of my NST and use that number, so hopefully I stay out of the range of preeclampsia for at least another week or two!

QOTW: when I was registering, I spent some quality time looking for cute B/G twin bedding options and there was just about nothing that was in a reasonable price range. I could have gone with the gender neutral option, but I didn't want to so I decided to make my choice based on what fabric I could find at Joann's. Anyway, no 'theme' per se, but I ended up with a spring green with monkeys for baby boy and spring green with pink lady bugs for baby girl! Still working on what do do as far as wall decor goes, but everything functional is ready at least!
  • I’m going to go ahead and jump over here as I’ll be 28 weeks in less than 2 days. Baby is doing well.
Were having a baby boy and found out the sex through PGS testing. We’re excited that we made it this far finally after 4 long years of trying....
No upcoming appointments I had one last week to discuss sciatica pain and just a quick check up. I plan on getting another massage and going to the chiro again. Can’t sit for very long because my legs go numb which has made work hard.
Excited to join you ladies. We did our nursery in general blue and gray colors.  We have basically everything we need and already did a shower because my Mom came to town last month.
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.

  • Just had my 35 week growth scan and lo is measuring in the 80th percentile. His head is measuring 39 weeks  :o I feel so much pressure and I guess this could be a reason as to why. The estimated him to weigh 6lbs 8oz today. I can not wait until I hit 39 weeks, I have to be delivered by then but I'm hoping he makes his appearance before then.
QOTW: I didn't really go with a particular nursery theme but more of a color scheme which is greys, blues, yellow and green.
  • I guess its time to join the 3rd tri party!  I'm pretty much in disbelief about it I think.  Been TTC for quite some time and (TW) lost my twins at 10wks in the beginning of 2017 so its pretty surreal!

Lots of baby action on the board!  Big congrats to @amanning2011 and @MMD1986 I think I missed ur early surprise!!  Hope everyone is feeling and doing great!!

I'm currently 28wk will be 29 weeks in 2 days, its crazy!  I feel like its dragging even though everyone feels like I'm so close now.  I'm team green as OH doesn't want to know even though I have my own thoughts ;)  I'm thrilled to be here just to read about all the pressure everyone is feeling.  For me I kept feeling that I was feeling so much pressure so early on and it shouldn't be till later it was concerning me, still is.

I've given in to the awful digestion lasting through this entire pregnancy!  I take meds and tons of tums but ran out and have felt awful these last few days, being nauseous and everything!  Hoping once I get my refill it will help make me feel better!

Its amazing how everybody is so on point and I'm so behind...I'm first going to start a registry.  Traditionally we don't believe in doing a shower or any purchasing prior to the baby being born AND with everything I went through last year we're all to nervous about it.  One amazing thing is I have a gf with lots of things from her one year old that is gender neutral so I will have a bunch of things ready to go when this lil one comes!

@nmtay your themes sound adorable!!  I can't believe how much baby you are walking around with.  I'm so sad not to have twins right now BUT I do wonder where the other one would go...I'm so winded and sick I can't even imagine.  So you go girl!!  I tip my hat to you!  Granted my tech said the baby has so much room to move around that its great right now!  I feel so much pressure now...I guess I'll know what real pressure feels like in a few more weeks ;)

@holls214 hoping you get some relief soon!

@rel_1987 my LO is a lil ahead too as they told be the baby weighs about 3lbs give or take an oz so hoping I stay on track!  How much is your right now?

Welcome @Holls214 and @Hopeful_mom! What are your EDDs so I can add you on the post?

@Hopeful_mom thank you! Glad that your baby has plenty of room, that is definitely a good sign! Hopefully they Grow and take up a bit of that room before continuing to squish your other organs! Don't worry, all the pressure is very real! For me I think it comes in waves - lots of pressure, then my belly expands more, then lots of pressure again, more expansion, etc. Good luck!
  • @rel_1987 wow that's so great!! I wasn't that much bigger!! Do you feel like u have more or less movement now?

@nmtay I keep forgetting that part technically dd is 6/6.  I'm really hoping baby will come
end of May especially since so far I am a Lil ahead.

when does the OB discuss the birthing plan?

  • @Hopeful_mom he's still pretty active but I can tell he's dropping due to kicks aren't as high up as they use to be.
I have my second nst Friday an I'll be 35+6 I will be discussing with my Ob my induction date and getting tested for Strep B then.
  • Welcome @Holls214 and @Hopeful_mom!

I’m 37 weeks today. I'm done with my MFM appointments, just 2X weekly NSTs. The baby is wiggling  but I feel like he kicks a bit less. Maybe he’s cramped in there. I had a growth scan last week and he’s about 6lb 3oz. Pretty good size considering I’m tiny and have gestational diabetes. Can’t have a ginormous baby!  As for nursery, I don’t have one yet. DH and I decided to have him sleep in our room for at least the first six months, so we moved his crib and his changing table/chest of drawers to our room. The future nursery is currently looking more like a storage area rather than a baby room.

  • Hi everyone, first, congrats to the new mamas! Babies are beautiful!

I'm 35 weeks 1 day. This seems to be going by so fast now! Only two days left of work. I started getting some anxiety the past few nights, hubby is gone for work, I've been reading pregnancy books. I think I'm just a little freaked out that my maternity leave is starting and this is for real now! Before this it seemed all in the future! No appointments this week, had a trip to the ER last week as I couldn't stop vomiting. Some fluids and zofran fixed me up but I was still scared having to go to the hospital by myself (Hubby was out of town again). He's trying to get all his travel out of the way prior to 38 weeks so hopefully it holds off until then!

QOTW: We went for gender neutral grey pottery barnish looking nursery. It's not done yet but coming! We will accessorize with bright pink or navy once baby is here!

Can't help but share..I see an NHL player and his wife lost their baby the other day and she was due in mid april. I feel so bad for them I can't even imagine. To make it worse, thats our boy name. Just adds to the anxiety...
  • @meredith1987 O gosh thats a horrible story!  I didn't hear it, did they say how??  Probably still why I can't do announcements and still look every time I wipe!

Has everyone taken the DTAP shot?  Thoughts on taking it or not??

  • @Hopeful_mom get the dtap vaccine and make everyone who will be spending time with your baby get it. It protects against the whooping cough (pertussis) which is really deadly to infants.
  • I was given the Tdap shot as soon as I entered the third trimester. DH got it soon after. Like what @persnickity said, anyone that will be caring for your baby should get it. I was told that for mothers, we should get one for each pregnancy to protect the new born.

thanks for sharing!  I'm all about vaccinations I think I'm nervous to give the baby something so early on.  How many weeks were you?  I'm paranoid about Autism so thats where all of this is stemming from.  My OB didn't bring it up to me, he said its up to me whether I want to get it.  I heard about it from others which made me ask.

  • Dropping in from 2nd tri. Regarding tdap... during my IF journey I found out I have the genetic mutation MTHFR (compound heterozygous for those who are familiar). One aspect of part of the mutation makes it really difficult to process vaccines and detox in general. Ppl in my fb group for MTHFR are very vocal against tdap since apparently they only started giving this to pregnant women 7 yrs ago approx? I have not fact checked this and do plan on testing my child once born and still vaccinating but on a modified schedule if he’s positive for MTHFR...but just wanted to jump in with an alternative perspective on this in case anyone wanted to research this for their own decision. Some ppl believe that children who have been vaccine injured had this genetic mutation- which is why some kids are not impacted by vaccines but others are (as some ppl believe). I plan on researching TDAP before I decide but for now I plan on opting out of it if it’s true that it’s only recently been given. It also vaccinates against 3 other diseases but whooping cough is the only one that’s present in the US as far as I know. I’m not here trying to say I know the answer but just that there may be more to this than any of us realize and that thought scares me!

  • My edd is June 14th. Hmmm I’m not sure about the vaccine either and haven’t discussed it with my doctor. They want anyone who will be around the baby a lot to get it? Even like my mother who will be staying with us for a couple weeks? I guess time to do some research.

  • @Hopeful_mom I got it at my 30 week appointment
  • Not to sound like I'm trying to scare anyone, but please please please do your research and get the vaccine if you can medically. There are some who can't get vaccinated for medical reasons and I understand that, but vaccines don't cause autism.
  • @persnickity I have been doing research why I'm still asking and undecided!  There's no definite reason to what or what does not cause autism.  My OH already has kids on the spectrum so he makes me crazy about it!!

@Holls214 yes they say who ever will be around the baby should get it.  My parents are fine with getting it I'm just nervous about it fornthe baby....as much as it's suppose to benefit the baby.

Anyone get sick sick after taking this shot? Seems you can have lots of body aches and fever as well.

  • My arm was sore for like a day or two but other than that I was fine. Glad that I got the vaccination.
  • @Hopeful_mom The shot is only as painful as tetanus shots usually are. Just soreness. Not to start a debate, but there is no link between autism and vaccines. If you have any questions about the vaccine, please make sure to talk to your doctor so the doctor is aware of your concerns and can offer advice on this matter.

I've discussed the tdap with both of my dr why I came to ask you ladies.  My OB didn't recommend it to me I was the one that brought it up.  He said its fine to get it, its fine not to.  I guess he feels its not one of the major ones to get.  I've asked my friends that have recently given birth and 1/2 have gotten it and 1/2 haven't...thanks g-d both ways have been fine.  I think its because the baby is still in development that concerns me the most.

  • Yeah I’m so so. Still can’t sit for longer than an hour which is making work hard. Had another massage today and chiro tomorrow.
Sorry you are still feeling icky sometimes. I am almost all the way off my nausea meds but still need them at times. Any appointments coming up for you? Thanks about the nursery it’s coming along. :) Are you doing a nursery?
TTC 4 years. 7 failed IUI's with either Clomid, Femara and/or Trigger Shots. Started IVF journey in February 2017. Polyps removed in May. 1st IVF Transfer September 26th. BFP. Expected due date 6/14/18. Baby boy born 5/25/18 at 6 lb 9 oz. My bundle of joy.
  • @Holls214
Vaccination for people exposed to the baby before baby is vaccinated is mostly because whooping cough/pertussis is easily carried by adults without issue to them, but can make a baby very sick since they can't fight it off. So ideally, anyone who has extensive exposure to baby should make sure they get the Tdap shot at least once in adulthood. Non-pregnant individuals only need to get the shot again once (it's not like Td where you need a booster every 10 , but they recommend it for each pregnancy in women.

    @Hopeful_mom
My OB also didn't really have a strong opinion on the shot; I asked him about it (I know about the recommendations due to working in peds) but their office doesn't routinely give it. We're planning on getting it anyway, mostly because husband and I do get alot of exposure to germs in our workplaces. The rest of my family who will be caring for newborn have already gotten the shot. I would talk to your future pediatrician about it also; you might be able to just get it at the first appointment or two you have there which will be when the baby's only a few days old. That way, you have a minimal gap of exposure and you get protected, but baby isn't directly involved. We've also given it to grandparents who pop by for appointments; just depends on office policy.

Now I just need to remember to pop by my office over the weekend hours to get the shot...I keep forgetting!

34 weeks going on 35!! I actually think I officially hit 35 tomorrow or sunday...

Stupid blood pressure medicine is making my feet swell more than they were before...that was actually one of my mom's concerns when the doc prescribed it! Nothing alarming yet, just some slight dimpling on my usually tiny feets. I think I need to buy new shoes :x

Aside from some periodic insomnia, aching back, swelling feet, baby and I are doing well! We had another BPP at our 34 week appointment - all perfect. She had a busy day yesterday and wednesday but seems a bit quieter today...but still doing wriggles, bouncing on my bladder and occasional pokes, heh. And hiccups once or twice since last night, heh. My OB says he considers hiccups to be movements, but I know there are some differing opinions on it. Usually she gets uncomfortable it seems when she gets hiccups and will do some squirming to try to settle herself. At the BPP, she was playing with her toes during the scan! I guess there isn't much else to play with in there...no wonder my belly was feeling so tight that day; she had her feet all the way up near her face (she's head down and getting lower).

I have another appointment next week and my doc said he's glad doing the BPP scans is reassuring for me. He's happy to do them at each appointment if I like since it's "all about me" now. I think we'll be doing the GBS test the following week...it's still hard for me to think ahead in certain ways. My kneejerk reaction is still, "If I'm still pregnant..."  I guess it's a protective mechanism you build up over so many years of disappointments. I still need to buy the car seat...

For the nursery, I'm planning on doing a Madeline theme, maybe with some Le Petit Prince thrown in. I found some vintage prints from the book to hang around the room....of course, at this point, I've gone through about three different theme ideas (woodland animals --> space/planets --> Paris...). My husband will be setting up the nursery during his leave; it's too complicated for us to do it now since alot of stuff needs to get moved around and rewired. We don't need it right away anyway since baby will be "rooming in".

  • @Hopeful_mom I got my TDAP at 30w. I think in the US it's generally recommended and my OB brought it up first.

AFM I had my 34w appointment and so far everything is okay... my feet are a bit swollen which sucks. Had my baby shower last weekend and we got so much clothes. I kind of just want to get store credit for 80% of them. I hope that's not terrible!

I have no motivation at work either. I'm planning to work until delivery day, but wow I'm just exhausted every morning and can't do anything.

  • @helloworld9 I don’t think returning things is bad. Get what you want. :) we returned some stuff from our shower too. I feel you on lack of motivation and the mornings sure are rough.
@Hopeful_mom hopefully you aren’t getting sick. The colds this year have been so nasty. Get some rest. Hope you get to enjoy your big day.

Quick chime in on Tdap: I brought it up before my OB did cause my insurance actually has a nurse that calls me every month and makes sure I'm on top of things and know what to expect and such and she brought it up so I asked. Anyway, my OB recommends that you and spouse get it between 32-34 wks and it IS routine here. As far as "anyone that's going to be around the baby", they pretty much said anyone who will be for extended periods of time should get a booster. I didn't worry about that because no one will be staying with us, so it'll just be a few hours here and there when we ask for it.

@Hopeful_mom on birth plans: I asked my OB about this and he basically said that whatever I want to do I should bring in and talk to them about before 34 weeks just in case there are any particularly difficult things that we would have to work out. He also said that most things it doesn't matter if I have a birth plan, because if it's an emergency they'll just do it, and if not they'll talk me through it and ask me what I want, but that it does help to research beforehand. In talking to my OB about the things I cared about most, pretty much everything I wanted was already standard practice for them, so I'm not doing a birth plan. I just ask questions as I have them and so far everything has been great!

On autism: this is definitely something I worry about, because my brother, dad, and uncle are all on the spectrum, but A, most research about CAUSES of autism gets debunked within a few years, and B, there is a LOT you can do to help if you catch it early. So personally, I've decided to focus on 'what can I do as a parent to help my potentially autistic child develop as normally as possible?' as opposed to 'what should I do/not do to prevent autism in the first place?' and this has helped me a lot to worry less and be able to enjoy my babies more.
  • @nmtay thanks so much for the input on everything!!  I'm seeing my OB wed so hoping he will want to discuss some type of plan then!
