Sorry ladies! Some personal stuff has kept
me mostly off the bump these last few days, but here’s our fit Mom check in a day late...
How did this week go?
Any adjustments to your workouts or meals? Tips on healthy-ish snacks that help with first trimester issues?

Re: Healthy/fit mom check in (w/o 3/24)
I have been doing keto for the last two months so it’s been a little rough adjusting to adding carbs back in and choosing snacks differently. I think I’m doing okay. I want to continue to get carbs from healthy foods but avoid processed carbs and sugar.
Im really committed to health this pregnancy. I’m exercising while I can, knowing that in a few months I’ll be in too much damn pain.
How did this week go? It went well. I have been lucky thus far and any symptoms I have are minimal. The worst is I will sometimes have cramping but drinking water usually helps relieve that. I have been running and doing crossfit as normal. I have a Spartan obstacle race coming up in 6 weeks that I really want to do so I am just crossing my fingers that symptoms stay mild and I can keep training.
Any adjustments to your workouts or meals? Tips on healthy-ish snacks that help with first trimester issues? I have started drinking one protein shake after my workouts and one before bed to get all my protein needs in and also help with retaining muscle mass as long as possible. I love trail mix as a snack.
Are you a crock pot or instant pot master? If so, share your favorite recipe! Neither. I don't have an instant pot although I really want one. I do have a crock pot and use it from time to time. Pulled pork is one of my favorite things to make on it. https://www.spendwithpennies.com/dr-pepper-pulled-pork-slow-cooker-recipe/

Good, I got all of my runs in but def feel more tired than usual. I had to run outside last night and I was really slow- not sure if that's pregnancy or the 80 degrees plus humidity.I also did pretty good during our max out body pump which I'm proud of!
Any adjustments to meals?
I really need to cut back on sugar but all this Easter candy I bought is not helping! I have cut back to just 1 can of diet coke a day. I checked and 1 can has 46 my ( max recommended for pregnant is 200 my I think). Normally I cut it out entirely but I have 3 other small kids and I'm tired lol. Healthy snacks - I did do some edamame this week. Costco has a giant package of individually wrapped 4 oz bags you can just nuke in the microwave. Bananas are def my go-to also. Watermelon season is about to start here in Texas and I'll prob go through a lot of the too.
Crock pot or IP?
I'm a crock pot. I do a lot of chicken and just shred in to put in various dishes.
2 chicken breasts frozen or thawed, about a cup of broth, generously season with Lawry salt and Lawry pepper. Put a little butter on top and cook on high for 2ish hours. Voila!
@vrj0522 did I see on another post that you're from Utah? My husband is.
I’ve got nothing for the last 2. I feel like first tri is eat what you can handle, and I’m not a big crock pot fan and don’t have an instant pot.

We are back on track eating in for most meals which is great. I have been hungry a lot but feeling up quickly, which is annoying but keeps me from over indulging. I let myself have dessert any night I please though
I don’t get much ms, but go to healthy snacks for me are cottage cheese, almonds, string cheese, bananas, hummus and carrots

I have long been a slow cooker fan, and I got an instant pot for Christmas and I LOVE IT!!!! Such an amazing investment. Highly recommend.
I have a really basic slow cooker pot roast - just put a roast, cubed potatoes, carrots, a quartered onion in the slow cooker. Add a package of onion soup mix, a few shakes of Worcestershire, and a small amount of beef broth. Cook on low for 8-10h.
I just made these in the instant pot (though I upped the time a bit) and they turned out great!

Any adjustments to your workouts or meals? Tips on healthy-ish snacks that help with first trimester issues? No adjustments yet, I just need to find a way to stay motivated. It is not super healthy, but it's better than some alternatives. I am really enjoying peanut butter on a whole wheat english muffins. However, I also ate a ridiculous amount of pizza yesterday to curb the nausea, so there's that...
Are you a crock pot or instant pot master? If so, share your favorite recipe! I have both, but haven't used either very much recently. My favorite easy meal is a few chicken breasts and a jar of salsa in the crock pot for 6 hours. I shred that chicken and use it for tacos, salad, enchiladas, etc throughout the week. I also like to use my IP for boiling eggs. Hard boiled eggs are life for me right now.
I just found out I am pregnant this weekend. For the last 4 months I have been training for a half marathon that Im not sure I will sign up for now. It is scheduled on April 7th but without doctor clearance, I dont feel confident about doing it. I plan to continue to run, although not push my pace as much as I have been. I also just went to the grocery store this morning and loaded up on good for me things.
Last pregnancy I was diagnosed as GD and as much as I struggled at times with it, I ended up being far healthier in the last months of my pregnancy than if I hadnt been diagnosed and been forced to change my habits. So this time around I plan on using many of the tips and tools I used to maintain my blood sugar levels much earlier on. So carb watching, more fiber, lots of water, and lots of movement for me!
Also, I agree with @wannaflickone , hard boiled instant pot eggs are AWESOME!
How did this week go? Fine. I was more active this past weekend because my parents were visiting. I was exhausted by 9pm every night, but overall I was happy I was able to do it all.
Any adjustments to your workouts or meals? Tips on healthy-ish snacks that help with first trimester issues? My goal is to hit my 7,000 steps at least 5 days a week. Since I work a desk job, this means going for a run or walk in order to hit that number. I think I can do it if I set my mind to it.
For healthy snacks, I'm a big fan of Skinny Pop. There isn't a ton of nutritional value, but between meals it keeps me from feeling starving, which quickly becomes nausea. The other option in my office is the candy that is always around. I find if I have my own bags of popcorn, I stay away from the candy more.

I'm an instant pot newbie. I've used it a handful of times and everything has been fine, but nothing fantastic. I made a brisket once that my husband loved, but I absolutely hated. Bring on the recipes so I can try new things!
Any adjustments to your workouts or meals? Tips on healthy-ish snacks that help with first trimester issues? I'm not sure that this is the right place to ask this, but I'm not sure where it goes otherwise.
Are you a crock pot or instant pot master? If so, share your favorite recipe! No! I had several crockpot disasters in my youth and then dropped and broke the porcelain part. Fail! Everything goes in a pan!
