Here's a pregnancy random for you. For the past couple of days I've had the desire to go into a tanning salon just to smell it. I imagine if I had one of those ultra fancy tanning lotions they sell to sniff it, that would also do the trick.
@Austenista that is random! I don’t think I have been in a tanning salon in at least a decade!
@2589 mmm fruit loops! My favorite as a kid was fruity pebbles. I might need to pick some of that up.
Afm...I’m still in bed just lounging. I’m going to see The Greatest Showman with a friend this afternoon. Mostly just looking forward to movie theater popcorn. Then I have to go to Bath and Body Works to get candles for my shower hostesses. I got these cute labels made on Etsy
@krashke that is super cute!! I'm still wondering about getting hostess gifts. My cousin did all the planning but my mom paid for everything/it was at her house. Do I get them both something?
Me 30 Him 30 Married August 2015 DS born 5/23/2018 TTC #2 July 2020
@Amphibious22 I would get them both something if you do one of them. Even just a Starbucks gift card would be nice. I have 6 women, yes 6, all hosting my one shower so I’m trying to keep it small so I don’t spend hundreds of dollars on thank you gifts. With the candles being on sale today I think it will be $15 pp. I’m also debating getting a little something extra. Maybe if I can find a $5 bottle of wine that doesn’t look or taste like a $5 bottle of wine. May stop at Total Wine and see what they have.

@krashke Thanks for bringing that up - I thought about shower hostess gifts the other day and didn't know if it was something I should do or not. It would be a kind gesture. Love the candle idea!
@krashke I was just thinking about hostess gifts. I think I might get some of the fancy Sugarfina boozy candy... but that might just be because iiiiii am craving candy so need to give it more thought lol
@llamamama14 in lieu of green beer you can have mint chocolate chip ice cream, or a McDonald's Shamrock shake, Irish soda bread, yesterday at work my collegue made Guinness burgers for all of us, and honestly we are far enough along, have a sip of someone's green beer.
re: Shower hostess gifts. This time and last time I did small gift bags. Last night I went to whole foods and got them each a bar of my favorite soap (good soap brand), a packet of chocolates, and some bunny gummies from Trader Joe's. I tied it up in a clear baggy and wrote them each a thank you note to go with it. Last time I did an iced sugar cookie, a tiny pumpkin, and some hand lotion (it was October). Just a little tiny something because I didn't have a lot to spend, but it lets them know I appreciate them.
Mmmmm.... yeah @jsl82 I'm also finding with this being my 3rd pregnancy I'm much more lax about the "no nos." I had a few liberal sips of champagne at New Years and just this week I started consuming raw cookie dough. (Gasp.) I know that's not as relaxed as some pregnant ladies but for me it's pretty relaxed.
Headed to the grocery store this afternoon (a Sprouts just opened near us and I'm gonna check it out) so I'll pick up some green treat to consume...
I need like a maternity update day. My last day at work was Thursday, but I got a temp job that start Monday. I kinda need to dress professional. I mostly wear yoga pants or leggings to work, so i need a few maternity work pants. Im also out of prenatal vitamins. Also picking up flowers & a card for my friend’s 1 yr since her 2nd tri loss last year. She and her husband just settled a huge case yesterday so its a great chance to roll both into one gift so it isn’t all sad.
Hi ladies. I have hardly been around the last few days. Just snuggling with dd this morning. I was helping her trace some letters earlier. She does a decent job for 3 years old.
@lrichhx05 I hope it goes well! We're down to 1 diaper a day, just at bedtime. DS is finally going on the big potty out at grocery stores, which is a big help.
today was day one of trialing DS' adhd meds. so we wanted to get out and test them out. we went bowling.. i wasn't about to start throwing balls down the lane, so daddy and ds bowled. lets just say the meds didn't work and i'm noticing DS is in a whining stage where he has to be first. and there was real tears cause he didn't win. ugh!
But we did go to BRU afterwards. used 2 of our trade in coupons and $170 worth of giftcards we've had saved over the years. bought this glider sleeper thing, a new diaper bag, and a handful of baby clothes. I'm not allowing myself to buy anymore clothes till i officially go through all of what we have. besides umm a bedroom thats NOT in serious construction, i think all we need to buy is little things.... diapers, wipes, saline, diaper cream, gas drops etc etc.

So my FIL just stopped by with a housewarming gift (still adjusting to family being so close). He got us an instant pot which I'm kinda excited about. Do any of you use one? Does it live up to the hype?
Me 30 Him 30 Married August 2015 DS born 5/23/2018 TTC #2 July 2020
@Amphibious22 I love our electric pressure cooker, exactly like the instant pot but a different brand. We had one failed attempt at Mac and cheese but I think that was because of the recipe and the type of cheese we use but otherwise everything has turned out great. It works really well for making quick weeknight meals without dirtying a ton of dishes.

@doxiemoxie212 omgggg stoppppp. Maybe I live under a rock or I'm antisocial and don't get out much. Either way, my friend and I had really bad weeks at work and decided to have a girls day today. We had Cheesecake Factory for dinner and then walked around this really nice outdoor mall we have. Spent way too much money at Sephora but then we saw this store I had never heard of...sugarfina! We went in and they had samples and we bought Rosé and tequila grapefruit gummies among other things. Too funny you mentuon tuem today bc I had never heard of them!
I didn't have any green food today, but I have a piece of turtle cheesecake waiting for me....And umm turtles are green in real life so it counts?!
Edited: turtles in real life are more kinda brown?---still going with it!
@May14th2011 thanks, it went well overall! A few accidents but she peed and pooped in the potty and was starting to get the hang of it by the end of the day. That's awesome he'll go on the potty at the store! I'm worried about when we start to go out in public.
@lrichhx05 I think it's harder because my son is 2.5 but well below the growth charts, so he's almost too small to use a large toilet. A child of average height probably wouldn't have any issues. I do know a lot of people take a potty with them, to keep in the car, but we just kept our trips short until he was comfortable using the big toilet. Also, girls are easier to train all around- my daughter was a breeze lol.
@lrichhx05@May14th2011 I bought a little portable toilet seat cover for when DD was starting to use the potty. It folds up and fits in my diaper bag. It was perfect for when DD was too small for grown up seats.
We spent St. Patrick's Day apartment hunting. We found a huge one (1100 sf) with a terrace and a balcony out in Queens, but the building was a little weird. It had basically no amenities and we'd be one of 8 tenants paying market rent - everyone else has a low/fixed rent for middle-income housing. There's nothing wrong with that, but it would be super-annoying to be one of the few people paying market when everyone else is getting a deal. I'm getting frustrated with the whole process and MH doesn't deal well when I'm in a pissy mood, which I definitely was after we finished yesterday. I don't think pregnancy and apartment hunting go well together.
Last night we definitely felt a foot baby kept kicking me in the side, and when he'd pause, there was a lump. He also made me spill my tea, because I set it on my stomach and he kicked that exact spot, hahaha. Already being a troublemaker!
@dinodna3 you’re a lifesaver with that potty seat! I got peed on while we were out and about yesterday because I couldn’t convince her to let go of me enough to scoot back on the big, scary toilet seat
I've had two interviews for positions after graduation. I didn't officially accept either of them, but they have me down as accepting both. The first one was at the hospital I already work at. The offer is standard and what I expected, but there's really no room for movement there and they're understaffed so I'd be over-worked. They do 12-hour shifts, 3 days a week, which I used to love but now I'm used to regular banker's hours and only being at work for 9 hours. The other hospital is almost half the distance, better pay, and they're willing to get approval from the CEO to offer me a full-time position. 5 days a week, 8-hours a day, so I could actually have a life on the weekends!
My mum is supposed to be discharged from the hospital tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. She's feeling much better, though, thank goodness!
My brother is up from Mississippi visiting for a few days to see mum. We picked him up from the airport last night, went out for dinner, and then they ended up dragging me to a bar until 3 in the freaking morning. They both have hangovers, although my brother is fairing better than H, so I feel vindicated. H is currently naked on the couch sleeping after trying to take a bath to get rid of his headache.... I have zero sympathy I am enjoying the view, though, but eventually I'll have to put a sheet over him in case my brother comes back before he's up and dressed for the day.
Y’all MH is at a bachelor party this weekend and at about midnight last night he sent me a video, just saw it this morning because obvi I was in bed by 9, of all the dudes signing karaoke to “so happy together”

@May14th2011 I have heard that girls are easier, so that's a plus! And yeah that makes sense if he's on the smaller side. @dinodna3 my mom has one of those, I don't know why I didn't think of that! @izza2 correct me if I'm wrong but you're in nursing school too, right? I haven't interviewed for any positions because I don't know when I'll be ready to work after the baby. Will you be starting before or after baby? Also, congrats on the interviews and offers!
@izza2 that seems like a hard choice. I work m-f 8 to 430, but always overtime.. no weekends, no holidays in a clinic. Sometimes I miss hospital nursing and I miss having a couple days off a week. 12 hours were hard with a little baby though and pumping. Hope you get the job you want!!
NBR: Do any of you have a good suggestion for an app for podcasts on Android? I'm also looking for podcast suggestions.
@lrichhx05 - Yep, in nursing school! I plan to take the 8-weeks of family leave that NYS offers, and chances are I won't be taking any more than that. I've been planning to start orientation before baby, but depending on how the next couple of months go, I may end up pushing it off to once I get back from mat leave. Thankfully, both places I've been offered positions at are willing to work with me, so it shouldn't be too much of an issue if something happens and I can't start orientation pre-baby.
@sabby2 - I feel ya. I was working 12s for years, and then with my job now in a physician's office, it's M-F 8a-5p; but no weekends, no holidays, no overtime. I've been spoiled, because I got used to being home by 6, not worrying about whether I'll spend any time with H/SS on Christmas, or if I'll miss something on the weekend. It's a double edged sword either way. 12 hour shifts mean I'm home 4 days a week, but miss everything on the days I'm at work. 8 hour shifts mean I can spend a great portion of the day with LO/family, but I'll be gone 5 days a week. There's no winning!

@izza2 I'm happy to hear your mum is doing better! Also, that you got to see your brother, though idk how you managed 3AM, you're a trooper! At least hangover free is a victory
Congratulations on multiple offers! It seems one is far more appealing than the other and may fit your lifestyle better. Any chance you let either go by and wait for another or are you set on the closer, higher paid, no weekends gig? When you spell it out like that, seems like a good deal!
@Amphibious22 we have an instant pot. I’ve found recipes are hit or miss. We made French onion soup last night (win) but I hated the honey bourbon chicken recipe that is so popular.
@marcus7676 yeah it sounds like it depends on the recipe. MH is really excited to try a chicken marsala recipe he found. For me, if it helps us cook at home even a little bit more, I'll be happy.
