What sunscreen to use?

Im leaving on vacation tomorrow to the Florida keys and just looked up that there are ingredients in regular sunscreen that are not safe to use while pregnant. Does anyone have any suggestions for pregnancy safe sunscreen that they’ve used before that you can buy at a pharmacy or grocery store?
Thank you!

Re: What sunscreen to use?

  • If you want to be more careful, try looking for a sunblock (physical) vs a sunscreen (chemical).  Sunblocks have zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide.... I think we have Banana Boat for Kids.  I don't remember any particular warnings about using either kind, however.

  • Blue Lizard, California Baby, Kiss My Face are some good brands. Some of the major brands have “mineral only” options. The main ingredients I try to avoid are oxybenzone and octinoxate

  • Thanks Ladies!!!
  • You could also check out Beauty Counter-- I know they have a great sunscreen with no chemicals that are considered harmful during pregnancy.

I did some research before my last vaca and found that it's best to avoid anything with Oxybenzone in the ingredient list. Filtering for this, I found almost all baby sunscreens to be safe (and honestly they worked better on my pale skin than normal sunscreen!) It won't blend as well, but that's a very small price to pay :)
