So the good news is they found a fetal pole in a heartbeat 131 bpm measuring six weeks six days. (how the resident in the ED didn’t see that on Sunday is beyond me but that’s neither here nor there). They are very happy with that. They are still concerned with the large Subchorionic hemorrhage. The hemorrhage is anterior and of course obviously I'm too early to see a placenta but if the placenta is posterior then we're going to be OK but if the placenta is anterior it poses a risk for the baby that it will not get enough blood supply so we are definitely not out of the woods. We will be going in for a weekly ultrasounds. Rest is their number one and lots of water number two and stopping the baby aspirin. So today was a good day but we are still cautiously optimistic.
@msd1001 So residents are students. They are pretty much fresh out of med school and if they're in their first year residency, then they really don't have a whole lot of clinical experience. Also, ultrasounds are hard! So there's that, but top it off with the fact that this was an ER resident, which means they were probably boning up on all their trauma, infectious diseases, things like that, but it may have been awhile since they were really studying up hard on their OB. I do think that is pretty messed up that rather than getting another doctor's opinion, they would tell you something so scary, but that's probably what happened. So glad the RE had better news for you! Hopefully that SCH will resolve itself, and won't present any problems...
@msd1001 Great news today!! I'm so happy that things went well. I can't even imagine how terrible it would have been if you would have stopped your meds. I agree with @businesswife....residents are students and make mistakes...but that's a pretty significant mistake! I'm thinking positive thoughts for your fighter peanut. @KathrynShustek That's an awesome beta!! Do you have to do a third beta or do you go directly to ultrasound? @ashleymarie512 Congrats on seeing your bean!! It's so hard to be positive when you've had prior losses but it sounds like all looks good.

@Radmom27. Oh yeah! Absolutely! That is an YUGE mistake!!! That's why I'm saying, I don't know why they didn't just stay cool and get another opinion before they said that!!! I mean holy terrible bedside manner.
@msd1001 I personally would call and let someone know what happened at the RE, too, just because. Yeah. That's a pretty unacceptable mistake. :/
@BusinessWife I know that residents are students but she called in the attending OB ! She even looked at the ultrasound and couldn’t see a fetal pole or heart beat either . But I will say my ultrasound technologist at my RE is amazing ! 30+ years experience and she said when you have a large SCH that just bled out it can distort the uterus and there has been times when even she said to the patient you need to come back I can’t see much . Being an ultrasound technologist for six years myself your so right ultrasound is very hard especially early First trimester OB scans. I myself have never seen such a large SCH only small ones so I don’t know if I’m fact is even be able to see . I defiantly don’t have any hard feeling about the miss because as medical professionals we’ve all been there.
@KathrynShustek that’s an amazing beta! Can’t wait till you can see your little bean !
@radmom27 thank you ! When I saw the baby my heart just sank. I was so sad all week and to see that little one just made me want to cry . Infertility makes you so appreciative of that little one . I honestly feel like women and men who go through Infertility have a completely different bond with their babies because you faught so hard for them.
Panicking a little. Tonight i had cramping and spotting. I hate this. Called the RE nurse hotline. They are not concerned. But that’s easy for them to say. Going to bed. Hoping i feel fine in the morning. Ultrasounds not until the 22nd and we leave for vacation on the 17th until the 21st. Want to have a little peace of mind on vacation. Just don’t know what they could do for me to give me that.

As long as the cramping is still pretty minor, (not like major, strong, doubled over period cramps), and it's just spotting (not a dark, heavy, bright red, full flow), it's totally normal early in pregnancy to have cramps+spotting.
*****TW**** early pregnancy symptoms
<div class=" Spoiler">I had spotting, (mostly brownish, but also some pink), for a good 9 or 10 weeks, and even one evening of bright red (but still light) the evening we were telling FIL at 8 weeks!!! So scary that time, but I told them anyway, and all was fine. Ironically, mine didn't go away completely until around the same time I tapered off PIO and onto suppositories. This is why they say early KU symptoms and early AF symptoms can be the same! So the spotting really can be normal, and you can expect a certain amount of mild cramping and pulling as the increased blood flow to the uterus causes it to start stretching and getting ready for baby.</div> Congratulations, and good luck!!!! Try to relax and trust that you've done all you can do, and it's out of your hands now! ;)

@KathrynShustek Ugh, I’m sorry! I also had spotting/bleeding that turned out to be nothing. Will they have you come in for another beta? My office did, just to see where things stood and they ultimately decided it was random, “normal” bleeding.
Thank you everyone your words are very comforting. the cramping and spotting has stopped. If it doesn't happen anymore then I will just trust the nurse at the hotline, if it starts up again, I may ask for another beta before I leave for vacation - just so I know whats going on.

I had another ultrasound visit on Thursday . Baby is measuring 8 weeks and HR is 171. I can even see the umbilical cord, it’s crazy how fast they grow. My SCH is stable still measuring 3 cm but hasn’t gotten smaller so still worried . Does anyone know how long it takes for those to resolve?
We have been released from the clinic . I go to my first OB appointment on Monday . It was bitter sweet because my husband and I got very close to the staff there . I’ve been there since May of last year so you truly get to know these amazing compassionate doctors and nurses. You can tell they get very close to you as well , all hugs when we left .
@ashleymarie512 did they say anything about stopping some of your meds yet? They pulled me off my estrogen because my blood test shows it’s over 800 and I guess they stop if your at 400. As for my PIOs I continue that till I’m 12 weeks.

@mechelita44 congrats on your beta !!!
@ashleymarie512 I am so glad you got to see your little bean! How far along did you measure ?? 127 is a strong HB!

So the spotting really can be normal, and you can expect a certain amount of mild cramping and pulling as the increased blood flow to the uterus causes it to start stretching and getting ready for baby.</div>
Congratulations, and good luck!!!! Try to relax and trust that you've done all you can do, and it's out of your hands now! ;)
@radmom27 FX for a nice, strong beta today!

Our journey has come to an end.
