How far along today? How big is baby? 20 weeks! Halfway baked! Size of a swingline or a pint of something.

New/Interesting/Festering Symptoms: I only poop every 3-4 days. So...woohoo. This makes it hard for me to eat come day three or four because I feel so full! And I think I caught a cold from one of the kiddos I hung out with yesterday.
Appointments/US this week: Nope! Not til April.

Random Questions: meh.

Rants/Raves: I haven't seen a midwife at my hospital for 6 weeks, and won't see one until 24 weeks at which point it will have been 11 weeks since I have seen one. And I had to beg for the 24 week one otherwise I just would have seen a pediatric cardiologist. I had to tell them it had been 6 weeks since I had seen a doc to get them to take my vital signs. It seems weird to me, and even more impersonal. I talked to an MFM at my last appt who I will never see again, and that is the only doc contact I have from 13 to 24 weeks because, according to them, "So many of those second tri appts have no point." I mean, true....until they do!!!! Anyone else experiencing these gaps?

GTKY: If you could only choose one, would you rather have looks or intelligence? I picked this one and its hard, because it sucks that htey have proven in our society that pretty people get noticed, even if they often have their intelligence overlooked. I think I'd still pick intelligence because even if I was unattractive I could survive with mah brains!

Random Questions I feel like I always have questions until I do a check-in... I do think I need to go back and start re-reading some product spotlights (specifically the one on breast pumps!).

Rants/Raves raves - Last day of work for the week, I found out I get a free breast pump from insurance, and free lunch today (some consultants are trying to get some work)! Rants - all the pictures being gone in TB app? It's so annoying to me...

GTKY: If you could only choose one, would you rather have looks or intelligence? Definitely intelligence. I think that's what I was blessed with anyway

Bonus GTKY (because I couldn't choose): Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life? Kristen Bell - I think she is so funny. And she seems so real and down to earth. Has anyone watched her momsplaining videos? Hilarious.

@SmashJam yay for half way!!!! I am so confused by your appointment schedule... have you had other appointments beside the MFM where you have seen a nurse or anyone?

For your reference- I had an appointment every 4 weeks since I was 8 weeks pregnant. I actually scheduled all the way through 28 weeks at my first appointment. I either see my OB or my PA at every appointment. I have been alternating so technically I have only seen the Dr every 8 weeks, but that was my choice because I love my PA. They have all been very routine and quick so I guess i could see why that wouldn't be needed... but it helps with any anxiety and it's nice just to be seen.

How far along today? How big is baby? I am 23 weeks today. Apparently that is the size of a mango or grapefruit.

Appointments/US this week I actually have an appointment this afternoon! But it's a typical appointment, nothing special.

Random Questions I don't think I have any questions. Most of my questions relate to my subchorionic hematoma, which in the second trimester isn't that common.

Rants/Raves Rant - One of my coworkers stresses me out. Not really, but thinking about her thought process...I can't. She takes like a two step task and turns it into a 20 step task. Like that's not necessary. She's "too organized" that's she's actually disorganized. She has to be in control of things that aren't even her job. Sigh.

GTKY: If you could only choose one, would you rather have looks or intelligence? Intelligence. Beauty is something you can always change/alter. Intelligence, you can't fake that.

Bonus GTKY (because I couldn't choose): Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life? I love Blake Lively. and Kristen Bell. Either one. That would be cool.

@kc1293 I hope I'm not the coworker you are talking about! Jk I'm not organized at all. But I like to have all the info so I think sometimes I ask too many of the hard questions or think too hard about the simplest tasks.

@MrsMiller8588 Haha not you! Maybe it's that she is thinking too hard. For example, one time I asked her for a template that someone told me she had. It took her like 20 minutes to find it because she couldn't remember which folder she saved it in. Her "forms" folder, on her desktop, on the firm's server, in her email, etc. She looked in like 10 different places before she said that she would just email it to me when she found it. I was in her office and she pulled up her desktop. It is COVERED in folders and icons. On a dual screen. It's just a different thought process than me. So sometimes I don't understand.

New/Interesting/Festering Symptoms
Just feeling gigantic. Really starting to feel like there’s a gap between me and Singleton moms at this point. I’ve already gained around 30lbs and I am terrified for how big I am going to get with two. Trying not to worry about it too much but I’m already getting uncomfortable and still have 15ish weeks to go. On the bright side have had slightly less trouble with SPD and acid reflux the past few days. Not sure why but I’ll take it!

I mean I’ve spent my whole life in elite academic spaces and work places. Obviously intelligence is more important

@kc1293 OMG hahaha you MIGHT be talking about me! I am currently ashamed of my desktop.... I have a dual screen but currently only one is covered. It's just random things I save and then don't go back to file them correctly or temp documents I need for a short term and then don't delete them. And dont even get me started on my email inbox... But like I said I am NOT organized at all... my brain somehow works in the chaos and I don't even understand it myself.

@MrsMiller8588 I saw someone at my 13 week apt after my screening ultrasound, then the MFM at 19 weeks, then I will see the pediatric cardiologist at 24. I also see A midwife that week, so I have not seen a doc, nurse, midwife, PA, anything except the MFM, between 13 and 24 weeks. If it weren't for a GD test at 28 weeks I'm not even sure they'd have me back between the 24 week and my 32 week ultrasound.

It frustrates me because with 11 weeks between appts for general stuff I feel like I won't remember to ask some things. Like someone posted on here that they had their cervix checked because of cervical pressure. I haven't described my symptoms to anyone but you guys for 7 weeks at this point! I feel like things are going to drop out my ute all the time, lol! I know in all likelihood, nothing will be wrong with me and all symptoms are normal. But I just feel like no one cares about my pregnancy or well being at this hospital and its literally my only option.

@SmashJam I'm sorry that is so frustrating. I never remember to even talk about any symptoms at 4 week appointments unless they specifically ask... I can't imagine going 11 weeks. I'm sorry you feel like you aren't getting the care you deserve. Im so glad you advocated to be seen at your next appointment.

I’m 20 weeks today! Baby is the size of a mango supposedly.

No no new symptoms yet. I am feeling baby move more and more. And still gag a lot. But not as much as I was.

I had my 20 week ultrasound at the beginning of the week, but still waiting for the results. I assume everything was good. Baby weighed 11 ounces at 19+4! We got like 8-10 pictures. I had my 20 week appointment right after and had lost 1.5-2 pounds so I’m now only up a total of 1-1.5 pounds. Doctor is pleased with everything so far. I actually see my OB every time. Towards the end, I don’t know if she’ll have me meet with some of the other ob’s in the practice just in case they are on call, or if she will continue to see me. But I looooooove my doctor. And I can NOT imagine going an entire trimester without seeing a doctor. I had so many complications with my first pregnancy, that I would freak out. As it is I have been pretty calm and relaxed but I think it’s because of how much I trust my doctor.

As as far as looks or intelligence, definitely intelligence. And I have no clients on which actress would play me because I can’t think. Lol

@SmashJam I feel like I have a million appts. I see my ob every 4 weeks, then have to go separately for ultrasounds which I have had like every 3 weeks for no reason. And now I have a fetal echo that I also think is not necessary. But my ob checks my weight, vitals and pee every time... shouldn’t they be doing that for you? She also said she’s going to start checking fundal height at the next appt. However I also know someone who wanted a home birth and limited medical intervention and only went for an anatomy scan and that’s it. But she wanted it that way

@SmashJam I also see my OB at an office, not at the hospital, so maybe that's the difference? Did you get any paperwork when you first started seeing them about the appointment schedule? We first go in between 8-10 weeks, then opt to do the 12 week NT scan, then see the OB every 4 weeks until week 28. Then it's every 2 weeks until week 34 or 36, then it's every week until the end. And I see my OB each time unless she's unavailable for whatever reason. Maybe you need to ask about the typical pre-natal schedule for this practice. Your current schedule seems...crazy to me. But what do I know?

@kc1293 that story sounds so frustrating! If I forget which folder something went to, I just run an automated search for it on my computer. Does she not do this? Assuming it's a Windows, you can search for the file name and your computer will pull up every file matching that keyword without having to dig through each folder individually. I can't remember, but you might also have to first go into the parent folder of a networked/shared drive and then search. But it takes zero effort to do this.

AFM...
I am 21 weeks

New symptoms:
Heartburn and the return of my tailbone pain! For how smoothly my 2nd delivery went, I forgot that I spent over a year afterwards dealing with tailbone pain. It only hurts (very badly) in the transition from sitting to standing and standing to sitting. I think my quick delivery somehow dislocated it. I should really try to get a professional to help reset it.

Appointments:
I had a follow-up anatomy scan today and baby girl was barely cooperating for the face pictures they needed even after I did some "exercises". The tech switched to the 4D wand eventually to help get her pictures so that was a fun bonus. But, everything looks great! In two weeks I see my OB again.

Rants/Raves:
I am still trying to figure out work stuff--two potential jobs and found out last night that daycare isn't going to be easy for either of them. But, DH had a good suggestion tonight that I have to look into. It's weird though, that all this stress of coordinating daycare and managing a work schedule and making sure I'm making enough to cover daycare is completely unnecessary. I could stay at home full-time if I wanted to...but I'd rather not.

Also...going somewhere warm for work next week!! So excited to escape this horrible winter for a few days.

GTKY:
I would choose intelligence for sure, hoping that someone would find me attractive for my brains.

I have no idea who would play me in a movie. This isn't something I ever think about, haha!
