Oh my goodness this board has been busy this week wow - lots to catch up on!!!
ME: 27 weeks today woohoo...I can't believe I'm the next one up for 3rd tri...its crazy scary and exciting all at the same time!! I had a bit of a scare this weekend and I"m sharing my stupidity so you all learn from me. They really tell you to stay calm during your pregnancy as stress is just not a good thing for you or the baby. (TW I MC twins at 10 wks not knowing the why so I"m always panicked on something going wrong.) Here's my story: My brother got me upset and basically I lost my cool and really yelled and screamed at him for a minute...problem a few minutes to the point that my parents were in the room yelling at me to relax and stop and reminding me about the baby etc. I broke blood vessels around my eyes to let you understand the intensity of what went on. I did stop as I felt I needed too even though I could've kept going. I did feel the baby move for a sec after and assumed I was fine and then the pain in my tummy started..not cramping but hurting for sure. I call the dr I'm not running to the hospital as i'm in NY and the storm is starting, yay me. SO I have to drink 2 liters of water in 2 hours. During this time I dont feel the baby move...I'm panicked I caused a blood clot or something. I sit with my legs up for the rest of the night and wait to calm down. Still not feeling the baby...after another hour I'm in full on panic! Now I'm getting my snow boots on and ready to go but I try one more thing and drink grape juice in hopes for something..finally it got my lil one going THANK G-D!! I was sore the rest of the weekend as if I did 1000 sit ups. I might add that I've had plenty of yelling matches prior to pregnancy and never had a sore tummy. Never realized how much of my body actually gets involved other then the sore throat. All of my hard work and everything just flashed in front of my eyes...I've worked so hard to just get here and over 2 minutes I could've ruined it all!! Am I overly sensitive to everything yes but regardless ladies stay calm its really not worth it. I was mad at myself as I really have tried to stay calm throughout and I will continue to try and do so. This happened on friday and I first started feeling better on monday. Since I have been feeling the baby I'm waiting till next week to go to my MFM visit.
@mtpbadger woohoo must shout you out first - so thrilled to see your update!!! Sounds like you've got a smart girl there making way for herself. I know how stressed you must've been, thrilled you can breath a bit easier! Did they give you a 3D pic? Hoping telling your bosses went well! Were you able to make it in?
So good to see some new faces here! Welcome to second tri ladies, excited to have you!! @hottietoddy@lablover78@BusinessWife yay how i've missed you...even though I did lurk I have to say its nice not being so sick that I can actually look at the screen! Are you finding out the gender...and literally reading your post trying to do math for a second gave me a headache...realizing it wasn't a math problem. Pregnancy brain really plays mind tricks on me
@holls214 love ur bump so cute!! i thought I would be fancy and get one out in the snow but its a dud as I just look like a big polar bear!! Do you ever feel like your squishing the baby in front of the computer? I swear after like 20 mins I have to stretch out...I feel pain and cramped....why I think i'm so huge even though its not..sort of
@travelingcouple glad you have the power back and hoping after this next storm its going to stay that way...and yet you still got the board up - you go girl!! Glad you found a way to help the heartburn. I feel like i first eat lunch at 7pm I'm so backwards...do what works for you! I was really nervous for the glucose and thought the drink would be awful but all was fine. Just remember not to eat anything after, i had a sip of water which i didnt' know i wasn't suppose to...whoops
@lablover78 glad you're feeling good hopefully it will continue for you! I hurt in the beginning all the time through week 18...I will say that I too also thought certain symptoms I feel wouldn't start till the 3rd tri and yet here I am feeling like an old lady not being able to breath or sit comfortable already! I've had heartburn from the beginning terrible, start with tums and see how that helps you. I take meds and tums, its different for all. As for the test i'm really surprised they still weren't able to do it but they do almost all the same tests again at the 16w mark too. Glad to see your OB is on top of it!!
@coco305 my heart sac reading your update and how scared you must've been. I was right there with you after the weekend I had! I'm glad you went to help ease your anxiety! Nothing is easy in this process, and tell those bugs to shoo. Walking outside the other day I already saw a mosquito in this cold and i was pissed...like not now bug!! As for being itchy I do find at time I'll need a good scratch especially in the shower go figure...but it bruises my skin oddly enough...I try some extra lotion and it does help at times. You mentioned low blood pressure - how low? Mine is usually on the lower side so anything else i should worry about would love to know
@jr102217 i laughed at your post because i said the same thing! After I eat I look like i'm 9 months its crazy!! Before 6 months for sure...I took any pics after eating to really give the wow impact I will say now it big even when I wake but always much bigger after eating anything! Good for you and flying i'm just too scared. I have terrible veins in my legs so when I know i'm going to be walking around on my feet for a while I use support hose, not the most comfortable at all BUT I do think they help! Good luck with your upcoming appts.
@aer011 awww the crib! If that doesn't make it feel real I've had some terrible back pains myself but I'm wondering if its more from the sleeping on my hips...but ouch!! I just feel like its still too early to be this uncomfortable!!
@laurad75 obviously you exercise and know what you're doing but still take it easy. I can't believe just from yelling and getting upset how sore my tummy was...never prior to pregnancy have i ever felt anything like it...obviously i put too much of my body into it but still...upset me and freaked me out all weekend.
@sarcasticowl glad your getting excited and have the doppler to reassure you...and I doubt your bothering the lil one
@Irisheyes81 Feeling the baby move is really the greatest thing in the world...I first started feeling something in the 18th wk so awesome you can tell whats going on. Hoping you start to feel more comfortable, your profession is a courageous one for sure!!
@cseley321 i'm so sorry you have the marking but just think it'll be a reminder you can tell your daughter about and thank her for I'm just glad it has healed that was awful!!
@2momshoping you're very brave!! labor scares me to no end and I've read up on doulas but i'm not that brave. Congrats on not vomiting!! I was the exact same way so hopefully it continues for you! I thought it would never end! Hope you liked the new dr! I feel like my place is the same as its a practice of brothers but so far they dont schedule me with the others.
@hottietoddy hello and welcome! sounds like you have some extra health issues you deal with? sorry if i missed it but seems like you're in control and on top of it which is awesome!! The ligament pains are not fun and is scary, when i get up too fast i get zings so that does scare me a bit still!! Hoping the spotting stops soon, i know how stressful that can be! I had an sch and didn't stop spotting till about week 18. Great affirmation!!

@hopefulmom yes, thanks for noticing. I have PCOS and insulin resistance. So as soon as I got pregnant my blood sugar went up a bit from hormones. They put me on insulin week 5 to nip it in the bud. I'm on GD diet and was 6 months before getting KO also. So yeah if you had SCH you know how I feel with bleeding. I think I remember you had that from your posts before. Glad it has resolved itself! My sch resolved itself at week 10 and they don't think it's back but I don't think they can see as well from tummy sono....I might just be crazy though- it's a real possibility.
Also just wanted to share a big second trimester milestone for me. I went to a meeting and walked for an hour and a half with no cramping or breaks. I'm exhausted, but I couldn't of done that a month or two ago. I was so tired and scared of bleeding then. Also been working the majority of every day and still feel good! Cheers to the magic of the second trimester!!!
@hottietoddy GD that doesn't sound like fun but i guess you're used to it by now. Congrats on having all this energy just remember to pace yourself! I previously asked about my SCH to my OB and he was no longer worried once the spotting stopped and also said at this point the baby is bigger and thats what we wanted...so I"m pretty sure you should be in the same boat!!

Hey guys sorry I have been MIA for a couple weeks. Work was ridiculous then I flew cross country for a friend’s wedding. Baby and I are doing ok. 20+3 today! Anatomy scan yesterday showed a small placenta previa which should resolve. If not I’ll need a C/S around 36/37 weeks. Baby weighed 12oz which they said is right on track and was giving the tech a hard time, even completely turned his back to her at one point. I’m getting ready now to go for my heart echo due to the palpitations and racing heart issues I was having but I do think they have improved. Next ultrasound in 1 month to check the placenta previa. Can’t wait to see him again!
@TravelingCouple hope you are not being affected by this new storm. Congrats on hitting viability!
@lablover78 Congrats on second tri! We have the same issue. The placenta goes over the cervix. They told me it is placenta previa and it usually resolves as the uterus stretches. I hope you can still get your NIPT done,
@mtpbadger so glad that band is out of the way and not causing any issues!
@BusinessWife oh how the time flies! Welcome to second tri! I’m so glad we will be on the same board again. Hopefully I will be better at posting regularly in the coming weeks.
@jr102217 I just flew from Florida to California and back. Didn’t wear compression stallkings but did make sure to get up and stretch and do leg exercises while sitting. Do you go through the big scanners btw? I goggled it and it said you get more radiation just sitting in the plane so it’s no big deal but it still makes me anxious.
@sarcasticowl my Doppler was my lifesaver too but now that I can feel him moving around I have finally been able to take a break from it lol. I also have the same issue with palpitations and I’m sure it is mostly anxiety as well. I will look into those mediation videos also.
@cseley321 so sorry that you have to deal with that and you have every right to feel down about it. I hope it still improves over time. Good luck on the scan next week.
@Irisheyes81 that is a tough situation but I would go ahead and feel physically comfortable. You will have to wear maternity clothes eventually so why not feel comfortable for as long as possible. I agree with the others, try not to address personal questions as much as possible.
@Hopeful_mom oh no please try to stay calm and relaxed for the remainder of this pregnancy! Try to avoid people who you know will aggravate you. Glad baby is ok!
Also I didn’t take a picture yesterday for HDBD but here is a pic of me Saturday showing off the belly in the photo booth at my friend’s wedding...(super huge so in spoiler...wish I could learn to resize)
I forgot to post my bump yesterday! 23 weeks exactly and it was the first time the bump was on display at work since I only told management on Tuesday (which went well!)
@Hopeful_mom That sounds so scary! I'm sorry you went through that! I'm so glad baby is ok. @safire3 We definitely got hit with this latest storm...20 inches of snow! Unbelievable. But our power stayed on, so hurrah to that! Hope your placenta previa does indeed resolve itself
@hopeful_mom what a crazy scare! Keeping calm is super important. I can be a bit of an emotional hot head and I
have noticed I’ve calmed quite a bit in recent years. It’s really true what they say about not
sweating the small stuff. Things that
used to leave me reeling for days barely are a blip on my radar these days. Meditation really helped me and honestly I think
IF in general helped me to change a lot of my “life perspective.” For some people its religion, some people benefit
from therapy there really isn’t an easy fits all solution. It’s a struggle but I encourage you to find
something that works for you. I’m so
glad you and baby are a-ok J
Also on the med-free labor thing…I’m so NOT brave in fact one of the reasons I
want to do the natural is because I’m so so so scared of Pitocin and a
c-section and my fear of that is greater than my fear of labor pain. I figure the longer I can make it walking
around and getting things moving naturally the less chance I have to have more
serious interventions. Granted I may
still end up with those regardless but hey I figure it’s worth a try!
@hottietoddy yay!!! To the long walk. The second trimester really does improve
things. Although I’m still calling BS on
the magic energy golden trimester thing I guess we can celebrate being sorta
kinda almost normal again
@safire3 great to see you back. So glad the anatomy scan went well even if
your little one was being camera shy. I
hope your placenta Previa resolves itself and your echo goes well.

Thank you everyone for your help last week with my work situation. @mtbadger it is so cool that your sister is a probation officer too. I hope it gets a little easier as I go along and good advice about saying, 'nope just fat.' I love to shut people down
I had a little scare yesterday. My feet and hand got really swollen. I'm going to be 19 weeks tomorrow so it's VERY early to be swelling. The OB took that very seriously because it is the first sign of pregnancy induced hypertension. Turns out I was dehydrated and I have to drink quart more water per day. I went home and drank water with my feet up and it went away. I can already feel it coming on again today so I have to get a blood pressure cuff. Has that happened to anyone else?
@hopeful_mom It sounds like you went through such a huge fight and then a scare. What a terrible couple of days for you. Family life is so complicated. I commend you for stopping when you still had plenty to say and hope you were heard!
My app is being really weird right now so I'll respond to everyone soon. I just wanted to give a shout out to the bump pics and see if anyone else has swelling
Me: 36 DH: 33
TTC since June 2016
Me: PCOS DH: Morphology 1%
3 TI with Famera and trigger shots-BFN
3 IUI's with Famera and trigger shots- BFN
IVF August 2017 25 eggs retrieved, 19 mature, 13 fertilized (ICSI), 5 frozen, 3 PGS normal
FET November 2017 Transferred one 6 day blast (a little GIRL) BFP EDD 8/4/18
I’m finally catching up and will hopefully reply fully tomorrow morning, but DH keeps reminding me it’s bedtime. I’ve been finishing up our registries today and it was very stressful to the point where DH wasn’t being cooperative or helpful and I ended up crying and needing a break. Good ol’ hormones. Later we both apologized and all is well. I think I’m mostly done with the registries but might tweek it one more or two more times. t’s stressful to figure out what you think you’ll need! I’m debating what to do about bottles on the registries since I’m trying to figure out how to get samples first. Any suggestions? Same thing with breast supplies; I need to call my insurance company tomorrow.
Also, I traveled from Sun to Wed last week/earlier this week and I’m really grateful for the advice to get an aisle seat. On the last 3 planes/flights, I got an aisle seat with an empty middle seat! Whoo-hoo! The trip wasn’t too bad but it definitely used up time that I had hoped to spend at home to clean and prepare. Then after I got home, DH wanted to go shopping at Babies R Us, without any prompting or nudging from me! So we bought our first items: a pack n play and a highchair (though my mom offered to pay for the latter). We almost bought a crib but opted to wait.
Last but definitely not least, I finally felt the baby moving at 21w4d!!!! That was early Thursday morning after I got up to pee at 4:30am. I was on my left side and definitely felt the baby move. When I moved to the right, I couldn’t feel any more movement. Same thing happened the following morning (because of course I have to pee at 4:30am again). And I’m sitting here on the couch, done with the registries, and can feel the baby moving again.
Love the baby bump pics!!! @Hopeful_mom glad you’re okay!!!

@safire3 We definitely got hit with this latest storm...20 inches of snow! Unbelievable. But our power stayed on, so hurrah to that! Hope your placenta previa does indeed resolve itself
@hopeful_mom what a crazy scare! Keeping calm is super important. I can be a bit of an emotional hot head and I have noticed I’ve calmed quite a bit in recent years. It’s really true what they say about not sweating the small stuff. Things that used to leave me reeling for days barely are a blip on my radar these days. Meditation really helped me and honestly I think IF in general helped me to change a lot of my “life perspective.” For some people its religion, some people benefit from therapy there really isn’t an easy fits all solution. It’s a struggle but I encourage you to find something that works for you. I’m so glad you and baby are a-ok J Also on the med-free labor thing…I’m so NOT brave in fact one of the reasons I want to do the natural is because I’m so so so scared of Pitocin and a c-section and my fear of that is greater than my fear of labor pain. I figure the longer I can make it walking around and getting things moving naturally the less chance I have to have more serious interventions. Granted I may still end up with those regardless but hey I figure it’s worth a try!
@hottietoddy yay!!! To the long walk. The second trimester really does improve things. Although I’m still calling BS on the magic energy golden trimester thing I guess we can celebrate being sorta kinda almost normal again
@safire3 great to see you back. So glad the anatomy scan went well even if your little one was being camera shy. I hope your placenta Previa resolves itself and your echo goes well.
@holls214, @safire3, and @mtpbadger love those cute bumps!

@mtbadger, @Holls214 and @safire3 Great bump pictures! You guys look great. @safire3 your dress is so pretty. looks like a fun event.
My app is being really weird right now so I'll respond to everyone soon. I just wanted to give a shout out to the bump pics and see if anyone else has swelling
Love the baby bump pics!!!
@Hopeful_mom glad you’re okay!!!
