Irregular periods...What should I count as LMP?

Sorry for the long detailed post, but im strugglinf with sating my pregnancy. Im either 7 wks 6 days or 9 weeks 2 days!

My periods used to be irregular. Once I starting the pill, they evened out to every 21 days (starting early in the morning on the 22nd day) and they lasted 3 or 4 days. However, Dec 10th my period started and lasted 15 days! Then on Jan 1st (right on schedule) I got a period, but it was very light and lasted 3 days. I ran out of BC on the 5th and wasnt able to get a new pack. Then on Jan 11th (not on schedule!) I bled again again for 3 days, but it was very slighttttyy heavier. For my LMP, do you think I should count the light period that came on schedule (Jan 1st) or the tiny bit heavier period that was soon after I discontinued birth control?

  • Your doctor will be able to sort that out once they do the dating scan.

  • I think your dr should be doing a dating scan since there's so much uncertainly surrounding your LMP. Have you discussed this with them?

  • I don't have health insurance for a few more weeks (which is why I wasn't able to get more BC) so I am unable to see a doctor yet. A dating ultrasound would cost me $1000!
  • You'll probably just have to ask your medical person and see what they say the soonest that can happen.

If you don't get a dating ultrasound very soon (within the next couple weeks), it's not going to be accurate. They are the most accurate the earlier they occur.

If you can't get one, just talk to them about it. Women have been having babies for thousands of years without due dates, and it's not the end of the world.

I've been reading more about breakthrough bleeding, or withdrawal bleeding, and I think that's what happened on the 11th. The free clinic here in the commonwealth doesn't offer ANY pregnancy or prenatal care. I can go to planned parenthood and may be able to convince them to do a dating ultrasound. After a long cry (which accompanies every little thing) and talk with my partner, we came to the conclusion that knowing whether it's 7 or 9 weeks isn't going to make or break this. As long as I stay on track with being healthy, everything will be ok till I can see a doctor. My mom didn't get an US till she was 22 weeks!
