I've had a pretty good week. After a full weekend on inactivity while in Texas, I taught twice this week and made it to two classes on my own. Long walk yesterday morning, and teaching again tomorrow. Planning some gentle yoga for today and maybe another walk on Sunday.
Good workout week mon-weds. Yesterday DH and I had a planned off day, which we haven't had in forever it seems..got off work, got into our pj's and on the couch, watched a movie, had an early dinner and early bedtime. It was AWESOME! Back at it today.

I've had a good week and attended 3 orangetheory workouts. I have noticed that I am having a harder time getting my heart rate up. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm not sure if this is a pregnancy thing, or if it is just harder for me to sustain the effort required to keep my heart rate elevated? I still feel like I'm getting a good workout, I just find it odd!
@limoncat I’ve noticed that on some days myself, and then weirdly on other days I struggle to keep it down!
I was trucking along great with my workouts, then work got insane (there by 8.30am each day and I didn’t leave until 10om+ — 3 consecutive nights), and I’m pretty sure I hurt myself. I hurt so bad everywhere...I’ve not been able to get off the sofa for 2 days.
Fingers crossed I’m feeling better tomorrow and it was a temporary glitch. I want to be a workout super star like you ladies again!
@pretzellover I hope you feel better soon! I am starting to think that is actually an issue with my heart rate monitor. It fits differently now that I have a bump, so it is not laying as flat below my chest. So I think maybe it just isn't getting a good signal. Yesterday I ran faster than I have in a long time and still struggled to get the heart rate up. But, I felt like I was working, for sure. Do you wear a heart rate monitor?
@limoncat I am wondering the hr monitor you use may have an issue sitting correctly, because I've had the opposite problem, my hr goes into the cardio zone pretty quickly. However, my cardio zone may be different than yours it usually goes up ton140-150 within a few minutes of Zumba. I wear a Fitbit so it's picking it up from the pulse.
@kissableviv I think it may be my monitor. I just remembered that my garmin watch can measure HR too, so next time I workout I am going to compare it to the chest strap I use for orangetheory. That may give me an answer.
@limoncat Weirdly I feel ok on the elliptical / stairmaster (back on the wagon this am as a test), but every step walking on the ground feels like a painful & swift kick to the crotch. Gonna be a long 4 months!
I agree with you and @kissableviv that maybe it’s the strap. I wear a chest strap most days too bc it’s most accurate for me. My iWatch occasionally looks weirdly low, and when I reset it or count manually dammit if it’s not off every time. id say absolutely trust your body. As my Ob says, if you are gasping for breath so is the baby, and that’s not the goal.
