1st Trimester

First trimester and flu

Hi all! My husband has the flu :(. He was tested today. I called my doctor right after (my first appt. is tomorrow). And they said if I had access to get tamiflu today, I should start it. I don’t believe I have any symptoms though. Maybe a little throat irritation which could also be allergies. Any opinions on tamiflu and early pregnancy? I think I’m about 7 weeks right now.

  • No experience here and i hope you don’t get sick as i hear it’s hell being pregnant with the flu. I would follow your doctors recommendations as they would know better than strangers here. Do they plan on testing you?

  • I don’t think they are going to test me, we will see how i feel tomorrow as that is my first appointment. I just don’t want to take it to take it, when I don’t even feel sick yet. But I think they are going to tell me to.
  • Your doctor told you to take tamiflu even though you don't have any flu symptoms because you've been exposed and having the flu can be dangerous during pregnancy.

    This ^^

Your dr is not going to recommend you take Tamiflu unless they really thought you should. I would listen to your drs recommendations.

  • She ended up not recommending I take it unless I start showing symptoms. At this point, I still feel fine and my hubs is on day 6. Also it was originally the nurse the seemed pushy about me starting it when I called, the doc. yesterday seemed less concerned. Thanks all for the tips!
