Vaginal discharge &itching

Hi,

I'm 12w7d, I saw my Dr on Friday 2/23 for vaginal itching and some discharge-which has been going on for a week now. From what she seen it looked normal to her. She took a urine sample (NO burning while peeing) and also a swab. Now I have to wait until Tuesday or Wednesday for results. My stomach today is making strange noises, it's almost reminding me of when I had BV, but there's no grey or frothy discharge like BV has. I'm stumped, is anyone else experiencing this?

Not doctors. Can't help you. Your doctor will call you Tuesday or Wednesday and have appropriate medical advice for you.
To answer your question, as for me, no, I've never had that.

@michjeepwife We're not doctors and can't help her. Even if we were, a doctor wouldn't diagnose a condition over the Internet without seeing the patient and checking out the symptoms first hand.

A certain amount of discharge is certainly normal during pregnancy, but talking about my experience with vaginal discharge doesn't do a whole lot to help this poor girl with <i>her</i> vaginal discharge, and I think we've talked enough about vaginal discharge for one morning. Er. Lifetime! Lol

I'm not feeling all that sorry that she has to wait 2 maybe 3 days to hear back from her doctor about what is most likely a simple infection if anything. That's just life. Sometimes you have to wait a little for things. She's not experiencing something scary or life threatening, it's just mildly unpleasant. And seriously, for reals, what are any of us going to be able to say to her to help her with her medical condition that her paid professional legally able to distribute medical advice doctor isn't going to say in like 48 hours from now? She already went to the doc. She's not stuck unable to see a doctor and forced to consult the internet because she's desperate. Answers, actual based on medical test answers are already on their way.
Also no one got snarky until OP got snippy herself in another thread. Once someone gets snarky themselves I say it's fair game to give snark back cause you get what you give sometimes.

Not a medical doctor, can't diagnose on the internet, blah blah blah. But ANY symptoms can be so scary when you're in a certain mindset, especially if you've experienced loss and/or it's your first pregnancy.

I assume all the OP wants to hear is "that's likely just a minor infection it happens. It's happened to me, and it was nothing. I have a healthy baby".

So here you go: in my first pregnancy I ended up with a few minor yeast infections, that just presented a a little bit itchy and some discharge. It was fine. OTC medicine was approved by my doc and fixed me right up. Hopefully it's as simple for you.

@MandyMost I totally get that, especially having RPL and having no prior children. Unfortunately, we can't tell her it's all OK. I have no idea! It sounds weird to me, but what do I know. I could have had the same symptoms and have had a completely different diagnosis than her. One person it might just be a yeast infection, for another person it could be something else. Again, only her doctor can evaluate all her symptoms along with her medical history, etc. to make a (hopefully) accurate diagnosis.

I would never tell someone it's nothing. If you're concerned, go to a doctor. If you don't like that opinion, get a second medical opinion. Sure, many of us suffer from MS, fatigue, breast tenderness and we reassure each other on those things. We know those are typical first tri symptoms. But I'm not about to reassure someone about something I know nothing about and risk her not going back to her doctor to get it checked out, especially if it gets worse.

This plus also not my job to play mind reader and guess what people feel or what the want to hear. OP's post said nothing of emotions, fears, need for support, any of that. She listed medical symptoms and asked for feedback about her medical symptoms. Not a doctor. Can not help.
When people post saying they feel scared and would like advice about how to stay calm, if I think I can help I do try. Cause I can offer opinions, thoughts, feelings. That I can give people. My opinions, thoughts and feelings don't help with medical conditions or concerns and could very well potentially hurt if I'm wrong and I don't want that responsibility!

Totally on board with everyone saying this isn't something we can answer/read the board organization thread/her doctor is already working on this, etc. And snark is definitely warranted.
That being said, I am uncomfortable with all the "ew, gross!" kind of comments and gifs. Has nothing to do with poor board etiquette on OP's part, it's not a random gross thing like a picture of her discharge, and this reaction would deter even regulars from posting "icky" symptoms - which pregnancy is full of! - lest they be shamed.

Meh, nah. Not to worry. @Car0liiine. OP posted an AW just to SS her own specific medical questions we can't help her with, is not a reg, and didn't ask for support, either. That's why she got the eews etc. That's not how the board works. Anyone who is here participating, or even lurking the symptoms and questions threads knows there ample support to be found, and no question is off limits. But that's not what happened in this case, and anyone who tries to do the same thing i.e. start an AW thread out of the blue to ask us to play internet doctor, is likely to get responses in kind. Simple as that.

I know the responses would not have been the same for a regular. But you're still making statements about a symptom that a regular could potentially have and I wouldn't want that to hurt someone feelings. I think most regulars would understand that there reaction was because it was a drive-by, but I just think it's best to err on the side of caution and keep the jokes specific to the unacceptable parts of such a post and steer clear of personal details that could apply to others.
Not a big deal, just don't want anyone who might be a contributing member to get caught in the crossfire whenever we're just trying to have some good snarky fun.

I'm confused why someone can't ask about this when people on here give each other what I would consider medical advice all the time ! I.e. Someone says I'm having sharp pains - someone will respond don't worry prob just RLP pain.

@iluvgoldies33 Because most of us put it in the symptoms thread or ask in randoms. Also, RLP is something most of us experience so we can relate/compare our experience to theirs. However many of us add things such as “if you’re concerned, ask your doctor”. A good example is the magnesium talk in one of the threads this week. Someone asked, then decided to ask their doctor, then reported back with what the doctor said.

Would you walk into a room full of strangers and ask about your discharge? No. Would you walk into a group of friends who you have already introduced yourself to, and all frequently get together to discuss their discharge? Sure. I think it’s like that.

Walk into a crowded bar and start yelling random stuff to people, and then see if you see more “rude” people.

Actually, I think there’s a handful of people who exclusively post inane details in a massive symptom thread and a different group of people who aren’t that rigid about a message board organization and prefer to address issues organically. One communication style isn’t superior to the other, and I don’t recall having to sign a contract adhering to BMB rules someone else decided. (Bump TOS are a different story, but this post doesn’t breach any of those.)

The more vocal / GIF heavy are setting the tone for the entire board. And frankly, it’s an ugly tone to many of us.

I have lurked the other BMBs and they don’t seem to have as much BS as we do. I’m torn between repeatedly pointing out ugly behavior (it’s not cute, you’re not witty) and just calling it a lost cause.

It's really not that serious, imho. If anyone feels the need to carry on this particular topic, maybe the Read This First, Board Organization thread is a better place to do it. I personally, would be happy if I never saw this thread on page 1 again. :)

@dexnie I'm sorry you feel that way. I feel as though the majority off one of threads are redirected to where the most vocal of us like for those topics to be and then usually the question is still answered anyway. But you're right, no one has made you sign a contract to follow these rules. You can participate more and be one of the vocal ones setting the tone of the board or find another board that suits your personality better. I truly am not trying to be mean or sound like "leave". I'm just saying that I get that certain tones or board personalities are not for everyone and there might be another board out there that does suit you better.

@dexnie i will kindly disagree with you as I lurk the other bmbs almost daily since I apparently have nothing but free time.... the same tone exists in all the boards...the same level of redirection to appropriate threads, same level of snark,and same amount of gifs. That's not unique to our board, that is general bump etiquette. I've been around here years and lurked enough to know what I've signed on for. As pp mentioned some people find other web communities to fit their style more, no harm no foul.

I've noticed on this board and all the boards on the bump that I've lurked (insomnia is to blame) that if someone posts a one off question and they seem genuinely distressed or it's a truly unique question that not even the most hardcore of the snarky vocal posters will say anything other than to answer the question and try to be helpful. I've noticed that time and again if someone posts a one off and gets snarked but responds openly and genuinely that they didn't understand the board format and where should they post because they want to participate, that the snark goes away and everyone is helpful to try and steer the new poster in the right direction. I've noticed many times that if a one off is just kinda meh, like one person will answer and then the thread just dies a quiet natural death, no big deal.
I've 100% of the time noticed on every single board in the 3+ years I've lurked or participates that if OP snarks, GBCBs, or is otherwise nasty or AWish that it becomes open snark/gif season. 100% of the time, without fail, on every single board.
As far as people posting "inane details" in the symptoms thread goes, 1 well, that's what it's there for! 2 I really don't like when people White Knight with one hand and snark with the other. To say, they come here and shame people for not treating the OP with the tone or attitude they deem appropriate but then immediately shame anyone who posts "inane details" in the appropriate thread. That's saying one group is wrong for doing xyz but then doing the same xyz applied to the thing that bothers you. It's the same behavior.
This is a 100% free open to all site. No one pays to use this site. No one is forced to use this site over any other. No one had to use this board over another month, vs first trimester or second or babies on the brain or create their own private group. Anyone, absolutely anyone can start a private group on the bump. There's also this neat feature available to anyone using an internet capable device called Google. There's another resource known as your own doctor/midwife/nurses hotline. No one has to use this site or this board.

Hi ladies. I just introduced and I am not as of yet a board regular, but I have been around TB quite a bit in years past.

It’s not Thursday but my UO is that I appreciate a post about some frothy gray discharge that winds up on the main board instead of the symptoms thread. Sure, we’ve eliminated the need for “Please use the Search Function” posts and arguments but I miss the good old days where these posts hit the board (or what do you think about using drugs while pregnant?) get flamed, WKed and turn into a gif party!

I will even post the gif that is the appropriate response to my input:
