I either had a fake out with decrease in nausea or some kind of bug. I feel hung over (still), and I switched from constipation to diarrhea. Oh, yay. Trying to push fluids and eat small frequent meals, though nothing sounds good. Also, VERY sensitive nose which is undoubtedly contributing to nausea again. Less than 3 weeks until second tri, can't come soon enough.
@smsaulino Please send some of that my way! 13 weeks tomorrow and still exhausted and nauseated as ever. Can barely eat dinner most nights. Also, dizziness has entered the picture today. When I was pregnant with DS I was feeling fabulous by now....
@klj0228 that is what I take Metamucil for.. they make it in capsules also, for those that can't stand the powder. I haven't had any problems since I started taking it.
@Wishilivedinflorida I wish I could... I'm running around like crazy over here.. DH is convinced I'm highly caffeinated, but I am not. When I wasn't feeling my best, my dr told me just to eat small meals (or light snacking) throughout the day and not to lay down within two hours of eating and I've stuck to it and am doing a lot better on the sickness front of things. Also, to eat a piece of ginger candy or take a couple drinks of ginger soda when feeling nauseated. That helped also. I really hope you get to feeling better soon.
13 weeks tomorrow. I’m experiencing both first and second trimester symptoms now. Have more days feel queasy rather than nauseated but then every few days the nausea is super bad. Headaches now, dizzy, hip pain. All of the last part I can handle if the freaking nausea would just stay away.
@nlc8424 I am the exact opposite of you. I went from diarrhea from week 4-9, and this last week I have gotten constipated. As bad as diarrhea sucks, I prefer that to the feeling of constipation!!
@skilledsailor I have been telling my husband that my hips have been hurting the past few days. I'll probably start sleeping with a pillow between my legs, since the mornings are when it's the worst. But yay for the 2nd tri!
I go from 0 to hungry real quick.... it's super annoying. Lower back and hip discomfort. Not pain, just a constant need to readjust position but nothing really helps. I need to start getting son yoga in, I know it will help. Been a little dizzy in the evening which I know is from not getting enough water. Starting to hit my slump later in the day so hopefully over the next week or so I can get through a day without feeling dead tired!
Thanks to nausea meds, I'm no longer feeling like death! I'll still have days where I'm adverse to all food but I can force some down. But a good bit of the time, I've been able to eat normally.
Other symptoms have taken over. These include increased sense of smell, fatigue, and very vivid dreams.
I've been able to smell individual notes of DH's body wash and sometimes I can tell you exactly which coffee he is brewing. I slept the majority of Saturday. The dreams (and nightmares) have been all over the place.
@Redpuma119 I have a bum knee and some wonky hips and sleeping with a pillow between my legs really helps. Since I have a jacked up back and neck too, I'm a mess, what can I say, I find that a full length body pillow helps the most. That way I can hug the pillow and still have something all the way down to my ankles. I use two, one on each side, so when I flip at night I don't have to move the pillows around. Takes up a lot of bed space but I get more sleep with less pain so for me it's worth it.
13 weeks today. Still nauseous and exhausted but I think it’s from working and not taking any breaks to eat/rest. I can smell anything And everything which when you have some smelly patients to deal with it’s not great at all.
All the nausea and vomiting are getting significantly worse for me as I get near 12 weeks next week. Like @prpl11butterfly I go from not hungry to hungry real fast, but lately it's been not hungry to ready to vomit from an empty stomach real fast. Keeping those wheat thins and cheese its nearby 24/7. Sciatica pain went away for a week or so but is back again.
I hit 12 weeks Wednesday and the past few days I have felt one million times better! It's also been warm here so I've been able to get outside and that has helped my mood a ton. Definitely a SADD sufferer. It's been so nice being able to eat the things I crave . . . But I've gained like 4 lbs in 3 days lol. I'll have to figure out a balance there. Also call me insane, but I've either been having very consistent but irregular muscle twitches in my lower left abdomen all day, or I'm feeling the first flutters!? I pulled out my doppler and was able to find the heartbeat for the first time right in the area I'm feeling something? Not sure. Once I start feeling real kicks I'll be able to look back at this and know whether it was baby or not.
Thanks for the advice everyone. I had been taking Metamucil, but it suddenly became an aversion so I had stopped. I made myself drink some today (I have to get the pills) and by golly I pooped!! I felt like having a party. Been eating Raisin Bran, but will make the switch to frosted mini wheat this week, because it is one of my absolute favorite cereals.
@Redpuma119@SkilledSailor have you thought about getting a pregnancy pillow? I’ve seen lots of people swear by them. I’m considering getting one before those pains start to come on.
Crazy dreams - nightmares, sex dreams, just vivid weird dreams, whatever, are really ramping up. I was having a great sex dream about some handsome young man with black curly hair, kind reminiscent of Jon Snow but not quite, and right when it was about to get good my toddler woke up crying. He won't even let me get some in my dreams!!! It's amazing I was allowed enough adult time with my husband to concieve this current pregnancy.
My hips stayed so bad from number one that I always sleep with a pillow between my knees. Once 7 weeks hit I needed to find a thicker one, and longer one, so I have a pregnancy pillow because it's nice and long, but then a thick regular pillow to add between knees.
Also, I'm feeling pretty OK when I can get enough sleep. But the best has been feeling like "hey, my moods have been pretty home, I'm not too bitchy" which is frequently followed by "my f-ing kid is insane, I'm selling him to the zoo" or "seriously dog, go to hell I'm done with you."
But when I'm not screaming like a lunatic I really do feel quite zen...

I've been feeling tiny flutters, too, but it's probably too early? The dreams have been vivid since O, but they've really ramped up in weirdness in the last couple of weeks! I bought dried fruit from the bulk section of my grocery store. I hope it helps with the constipation.

I haven't had to deal with too much constipation (yet), but I start the day with fiber gummies, and then I snack on dried fruit (apricots, cherries, figs etc.), and nuts when I'm at work. And make a point to get 10 glasses of water a day. So far it's working for me!
My sense of smell has suddenly kicked into pregnancy overdrive mode. I can smell the tiniest amount of weed being smoked by a neighbor up the hall. Or someone who recently ate fish who comes within 5 feet of me. It’s so weird! And I wasn’t experiencing it until now. I wonder if other things will start happening...I have had a few very vivid weird dreams, but not many and definitely no sex dreams . I am suddenly having round ligament pain - especially when I sneeze or move suddenly. And, it’s getting harder to hide. I’m 11 weeks so I assume it’s still blump, but I look pregnant for sure! I think I will have to tell my boss soon. I’m still super tired and still nauseous.
I’ve been getting intermittent headaches that don’t go away without Tylenol, which is weird for me. I’m also still totally breathless when going up stairs.
I’m tired, but less so, hallelujah! And other than the occasional dry heave, my nausea seems to have gone away too!
@magnolia209 I've had RLP a couple times while sneezing as well. It makes me yell out "ow!" which makes DH worried. I have to tell him it's fine. Also, you sound disappointed by the lack of sex dreams... LOL!

I felt a few flutters the other night too but I have an anterior placenta so I am hesitant to say they were kicks. Last time I didn’t have an anterior placenta and felt kicks much later. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see...
Totally getting all the weird dreams and remembering every detail when I wake up. Also, nausea comes and goes, i've been falling asleep on the couch as early as 7, so tired! Lots and lots of broken up sleep, I wake up every couple hours or so with that sick stomach feeling. Gonna try to have some saltines, see if it helps.
@BusinessWife Good fiber recommendations with the gummies, dried fruit nuts too. I try to also make a point of drinking more water, some days are easier than others. @megnwingate oh i'm so sorry about the smelly patients, I work a lot with the homeless population and I can relate to your struggle. These vivid dream are just weird! I generally don't remember my dreams, but I can remember flashes of them. Last night I was interviewing strange looking people for a job, in another I was very upset that someone wasn't making my ice cream sunday at a baskin robbins....I actually woke up wondering where my two scoops was and mad!
Still having near constant nausea, especially in the evening. I got down half a chicken breast last night and high-fived myself. Refried beans and rice made that possible.
I'm feeling a little more bitchy than normal (especially at strangers), but that happened last pregnancy too. I went to starbucks for the first time since getting pregnant and this woman with a mobile order didn't even glance at her drink before telling the barista she knew it was wrong because the app didn't have a light water option, and wanted it remade. Then why the hell did you mobile order it! That is not the baristas problem! Grrrrrr...okay, need to let that go.
All your flutters are making me anxious (excitedly or course). I started feeling DS around 15wks and I hear STMs feel them earlier since they know. I can't wait
My flutters are definitely just gas So much gas. Only 9 weeks over here so it's still gonna be awhile before I can actually feel little dude. I'm getting excited thinking about feeling little kicks again though. So, uh, am I the only freak that got motion sickness in the 3rd tri from kiddo rolling and bumping around in there?
@lcardinal04 I am suuuuch a bitch right now. I'm saying things, and there's a little part of me that's thinking, "hmm, that's not very nice." -but it's a very little part, so the bitch wins every time.
@klj0228 I think I will eventually get a pregnancy pillow, but I'm trying to make do right now. TW**** even though Ive never made it this far in pregnancy, im still hesitant to make too many purchases. END TW
@businesswife I've always been a good water drinker, but the amount of times I have to pee is getting ridiculous.
How could you STMs tell the difference between gas and flutters?
How could you STMs tell the difference between gas and flutters?
It was tough at the beginning, but I found the obvious movements to feel more like a popping sensation than a flutter. I remember the first real movement I felt was on my drive to my aunt's house for Easter - there was no mistaking the feeling as gas. It felt like someone had flicked the inside of my stomach.

I think gas and flutters feel very similar... At this point I would go by location. Obvs if I feel something between my ribs and hip bone at this point it's not baby going on an adventure
For me location and intensity are big clues to whether it's gas or baby. Baby movements when they are little are very subtle. Pregnancy trucker gas is not. Also if I feel something up higher or across a bigger area, that can't be baby cause little guy is contained to a very specific small area.
The best way I can describe the feeling (for me) was like a pop corn kernel popping, and it happened a couple times consecutively. It was absolutely unmistakable against the "rolling" sensation of gas. And like @stothi said, location is a big clue as well. Below the belly button likely won't be gas by the time baby can be felt.
Last weekend I had a pretty decent increase in energy and it was such a tease because I’m back to feeling like a zombie all the time. My sex drive is definitely back though, hallelujah! I’m still on the full diclegis dose and won’t even try to back off for a few weeks. I needed it the entire pregnancy last time.
I first started feeling movement with DS around 15 weeks and I could only ever feel movement while laying down until I got closer to 18/19 wks. So before bed every night, I’d just lie down with the light on and read or play on my phone and try to relax so I could feel something. Earliest movements for me felt like a holding a goldfish in a bag of water. It was like a “whoosh” feeling.
