Re: 1st Tri Check-In w/o Feb 19

• Thanks for starting this week's thread, @BusinessWife!

I'm 12w4d. Finally heard the heartbeat on our borrowed doppler on Saturday morning after circling around my placenta's heartbeat for like 30 minutes. I'm like "I know you're in there!"

Last week I had the blood draw for the Counsyl Prelude NIPT as well as the standard prenatal blood tests (yup, still don't have syphilis, thanks guys). According to Counsyl's website, the testing phase on my sample is complete and it's going through the quality control steps before we get the results. *Should* have them by Wednesday. I'm nervous but not obsessing about it... unless you call checking Counsyl's website 10 times a day counts as obsessive.

I'm feeling pretty good, but bloated. Some little aches and pains as everything stretches out but that's it. Boobs are still a problem, but I'm hoping that tapers off sometime soon. Sleeping is still horrid - really insane dreams/nightmares and up two or three times every night to pee.

My question is how many of you have/are going to do NIPT?

Dream vacation right now would be somewhere I can just relax and be warm. I've been watching a lot of Bahamas shows on HGTV and that looks fun. Otherwise if I had the energy and felt physically better, I'd love to go to Croatia.

Any recent/upcoming appointments?
Tomorrow morning, will get to see the baby again at the NT scan...

Any concerns? Looking forward to seeing baby, but I am not crazy about any of this testing. I know I can decline it, but it is covered based in my age, so I'm trying to just go with the flow. I'm sure it'll be fine, it 1. I don't want the labwork to revel the sex before delivery 2. I hope the tech / Midwife doesn't say anything to make me needlessly worry for the next 2 weeks or so till it all comes back. :#

How are you feeling? I feel like I ballooned overnight the other day! Lol. Not quite a baby bump, but I definitely look like I had a bit too much to eat. :p. Otherwise good, not too many symptoms, which I'm trying to be grateful for and take in stride, and not let it worry me that I'm not feeling "pregnant enough."

We told a good friend who just visited with her daughter over the weekend, so that was fun. Very supportive and happy for us, and took me shopping for a congratulatory gift, including baby's first real blankie (a very nice grey cable knit cotton one), first stuffies, and first touch-and-learn baby books. ❤

Questions? @sarcasticowl. I will be 35+ when all my babies are born, so it's covered by insurance, I'm in going to do nipt. Not sure which brand of test it is, but Im sure I'll find out tomorrow.

GTKY: What is your dream vacation destination? Warm and relaxing sounds good, too! I have aleays wanted to see some amazing blue oceans and white sand beaches, like Bali, Figi, or Tahiti. Ahhhh...

well I was able to secure a HSA ins plan that will save us some cash but kicking myself I didn’t call my agent as soon as I got my BFP. However I had to switch OBs so now appt is 2/26.
@sarcasticowl so exciting! Are you finding out the gender? I will def be doing NIPT but will wait until after 3/1 so the cost can go twd my deductible.

I’m right there with @BusinessWife I’m a beach girl at heart and have always wanted to do Figi or Tahiti but getting my husband on a plane for that long is challenging. I did go to Croatia a couple of years ago with a couple I’m friends with (sans husband) when I was feeling particularly low from IF and needed an adventure. I loved it!!!

• @lablover78 Yes! I HATE surprises. :)
• How far along are you? / 6 weeks, 4 days

Any recent/upcoming appointments? First "official" sonogram tomorrow- I had an early one last week to check for Ectopic but couldn't see too much since it was so early. Really, really hoping for heartbeat(s) tomorrow!

Any concerns? Had another TINY bit of spotting Sunday night. I may have a hematoma (instead of a 3rd baby!) so that could be the reason, but it's always scary anyway. I'm also still having a lot of lower abdomen discomfort, particularly when moving around for a long time. I used to be a really consistent runner and now just walking for a mile and a half leaves me feeling pretty uncomfortable afterwards.

How are you feeling? Morning sickness hit me FULL force mid-week last week. Friday and yesterday were horrible- lots of vomiting, pretty much nauseated all day no matter what. I'm still pretty early in the 1st trimester so I'm worried it's going to continue to get worse!

Questions?

GTKY: what is your dream vacation destination? Uh, everywhere! I would say Thailand (mostly the islands, but Bangkok too) has always been at the top of my list. We are also BIG cruisers ( I grew up always doing 2 a year) and ever since Zika hit we haven't really been able to take one. Really looking forward to being able to take one again post-pregnancy!

1st cycle of IVF started April 9, 2017. ER- 15R, 7M, 5F, 4 frozen, 1 transferred. BFN

May 2017- Hysteroscopy

June-August 2017- 2nd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 08/10/17. BFP, but ended in a chemical.

November 2017- Hysteroscopy

January 2018- 3rd attempt via FET. 2 Embryos transferred on 01/25/18. BOLD BFP on a HPT on 1/31, Beta # 1 on 2/5= 721. Beta # 2 on 2/7- 1903. 6wk+3 day scan revealed twins!

I'm blogging about it here

9 weeks, 2 days EDD 9/23 (I was measuring a few days behind at my ultrasound so my due date may be changing, I will find out at my OB visit next month :/)

Any recent/upcoming appointments?
Not until March 6th :(. My first ultrasound was last week and it went well.

Any concerns?
Nope.

How are you feeling?
Feeling very nauseous and tired but ok! I am officially done breastfeeding my son (it's been about a week, he completely self weaned when he turned 1) so my boobs are feeling a lot better. It had started hurting so bad when he was nursing. I still have milk but the pain has decreased a lot!!

Questions?
@sarcasticowl I am likely doing Maternity21- I did it with my son and it was nice knowing everything was genetically ok and it was a huge bonus finding the sex out a month early!

GTKY: what is your dream vacation destination? I agree with you all- Figi, Bora Bora- I want to go to one of those huts above the water! Likely won't be for a few years since we will have two under two lol and I can't imagine leaving my babies for that long. I think it takes like 24 hours for travel there so I wouldn't want to go for less than 7-10 days! I also would love to go back to Italy (I studied abroad there) and London is on my list for sure.

Me: 28, DH: 30 Married July 2014 DX: Severe MFI- 3 failed IUI's, IVF #1 Egg retrieval June 4th 2016, 5 day transfer- BFP Baby Boy! EDD 2/25/2017. Our sweet miracle Carter Bennett arrived 2/12/2017 6 lbs, 2 oz 19 inches. <3 Surprise BFP!!! Baby Girl due 10/1/2018.

• Hi All!
11w+1d, EDD 9/10/18 (my husband JUST brought up how close this is to 9/11...must do everything possible to not have a 9/11 baby!)

I'm feeling totally fine and normal, I haven't had any symptoms at all! I'm very grateful not to have any MS as I have a fear of vomiting, but it also makes me feel like a fraud to talk about being pregnant when I don't feel pregnant at all!

All of my concerns are strictly mental. We were very open with everyone in our lives about our infertility struggle, so because of that we've now told everyone that we're pregnant. Everyone is so happy for us and it's awesome to have their support, but now I'm psyching myself out that it was bad to tell people in case something goes wrong. In the last few months I've had a friend and an acquaintance that miscarried at 16 and 19 weeks, so it's hard to be confident that won't happen to me as well. So just hanging in and waiting for my next appointments...NT next week and OB the week after.

My doctor hasn't brought up NIPT...would one normally have both NT and NIPT? Or it's based on age?

@BusinessWife I'm Team Green as well and also have worries about a nurse or my doctor letting it slip! I even had a dream about it. I'm also in the same situation with my husband...now he wants to find out what we're having! I'm not willing to be swayed though!

Dream vacation is Hawaii, without a doubt. We went to Kauai and Maui for our 1 year anniversary and plan to go back for our 10 year.

Have a great week everyone!

im only 5wks 5 days. My due dates based off my 5 day transfer date is Oct 18th!

Any recent/upcoming appointments? We finally have our first sono next Monday the 26th. I can’t wait!!!! This is harder than any normal 2ww ever lol

Any concerns? Not really. The only symptom I’ve had is some fatigue and I worry just because of my lack of symptoms. Not even my boobs hurt! I’ll feel much better after we see the critter next week

How are you feeling? Great, other than a little tired sometimes.

Questions? When did y’all have your first sonogram? I should be 6 weeks 4 days for mine and I’m just wondering what we might see. I assume the gestational sac (hopefully!). Should we be able to see or hear the heartbeat that early?

GTKY: what is your dream vacation destination? I would love to go Israel someday!
• @Dragonfly6191 - Thailand is high on my list too! My aunt and uncle go there at least one a year for trips with their seminary and they have told me how amazing it is. I hope you get to go someday!
• @CatWaffles. Congrats again! I believe my second scan was at 6 + 5, and we did hear the heartbeat. Hopefully! It might not be super fast yet, though.

@sarcasticowl. Congratulations! Team Pink is so wonderful! That little girl is going to be so spoiled by her grandparents and aunts and uncles LOL

@sarcasticowl congratulations on great test results and a girl!!! I have also been watching the same bahamas HGTV shows! Haha feels like a vacation while on couch. My hubby likes it too!

@BusinessWife congrats on NT scan!!! We did our first shopping for baby last weekend as well. Looked around at Ikea for furniture to get a budget.
Sounds like some great first items that you got- how nice!

@lablover78 well glad you figured out HSA plan now at least! Never too late to save money

12 weeks due Sept 4th or 5th. I'm saying 5th because easiest to remember

Any recent/upcoming appointments?
Had OB appointment today and all is well measuring 12 weeks and 175 HB. Can't remember if told you guys NT scan results were good last week. Hubby also went to parinatal for his blood test today. Carrier test came back with a couple things so they are testing him. When I got back he totally surprised the heck out of me! Told me he talked to doctor and our free cell dna test was negative so no down syndrome. He also told me we are having a boy!!! It was a huge surprise how he told me and I am really excited. We have 2 nieces so exciting....girl would be great too but I had always wanted boy since met my husband.
• Wow! @hottietoddy. Congratulations on your boy!

Thank you! TB cut off my last post. Wanted to say I have half a mind to tell my in laws it's a girl then say 'just kidding it's a boy' or not tell them sex at all and make 'em sweat just to F with them. Haha!

Any concerns?

Family Dynamics can be stressful and still sorting through them but starting to feel less angry and let it go. Not going to let them ruin my joy. Will tell them when I feel like it then set some boundaries for gifts and comments.

How are you feeling?
Ok, more energy back finally and less anxious. Still worry at every twinge or small pain, still worry about things that could go wrong but chances are small now so focusing on that and just going to hope and plan for best.

Questions?
Was wondering what others are budgeting for one time costs such as baby gear, clothes, furniture ect. Outside of materinity leave and doctor bills budget, what is the total amount others are budgeting? Those two items vary greatly which is why I exclude them.

GTKY: what is your dream vacation destination? Well, we actually own 2 timeshares, one my dad left me in CO and one we bought in Isla mujeres, Mexico. We've worked hard to pay for them and haven't been able to go to either this year due to IF complications and TTC and Pregnancy. So my dream right now is to go there to our places. Someday I would also like to go to Italy and back to Paris. Would also like to trade our timeshare to go to Bora Bora, bahamas, Tahiti, Seychelles......basically try all the beach areas.

Any recent/upcoming appointments?
I had one yesterday and my next one will me on March 20th where I also have to do an early glucose test. YUCK. Heartbeat was 171

Any concerns?
Having nonstop weird and vivid dreams. I am waking up multiple times a night because of them.

How are you feeling? No morning sickness yet but super tired and moody.

Questions?
How do you stay calm during the first trimester?

Dream Vacation? I would like to go to Fiji
• Welcome @marimarii! Hopefully you avoid MS altogether since you’ve made it this far. I’d love to know the secret to staying calm after IF- this girl is a ball of anxiety. Since the beginning I’ve been following a friend’s advice to say two positive things for every negative thought I have but I just look like rainman walking around repeating ‘I trust my body’ ‘my baby is healthy’ etc. Today she told me that someone she knows has a pregnancy focused meditation app that she falls asleep to that gives her warm and fuzzy dreams- waiting for the name of it but will pass it along

8 weeks, 10/3

Any recent/upcoming appointments?
not until next week - it’s still weird to not be going in all the time!

Any concerns?
Not really. I feel more full, but less bloated. That’s totally a thing, right?

How are you feeling?
I’ve been nauseous pretty much all day the last 2 days, but it’s low grade. Just enough to be annoying, not bad enough to impact work/eating. Erg.

Questions?
The exercise thing. They say anything you were already doing is fine to continue (within reason) right? So, if I was doing it before an IVF cycle, but had to tone it back during injections, am I okay to bring it back to the pre-meds intensity?

GTKY: what is your dream vacation destination?
Oooh, total cop out but I’ve always wanted to take a year and do a round the world thing!

@marimarii I've cranked up the therapy and go every week. Has really helped. One think to note is you are probably going to feel anxious and tired. Best to take it easy and if you feel anxious take a break or nap more than you normally would.

@halfanewt- the exercise thing is so vague think it just varies so much per person. wouldn't go back to pre IVF intensity, you are supposed to take it easy. Walking, yoga, recumbant bike or maybe elliptical low intensity setting. They sometimes say you can just go back at it, but working out hard can make any SCH or bleeding worse (don't know if you have anything like that). A few years ago they say you aren't supposed to get your heart rate up beyond 140. But if you were very fit and excersize a lot before Pregnancy better to go by how you feel rather than heart rate. My ob said you should be able to carry on conversation easily during excersize without feeling short of breath. Also don't lay on back or do core twisting stretches.
• I downloaded Positive Pregnancy with Andrew Johnson and listened when I woke up in the middle of the night. It was relaxing and my mind wasn’t racing with work stuff as it usually would be then so I think I’m going to make that my middle of the night routine!

• @halfanewt I have a lot of anxiety about the exercise thing as well. I was so active (heavy lifting, running 8 miles at a time, etc.) before the infertility struggle and depression that went along with it began. I don't have an answer for you, just wanted you to know I commiserate with being unsure what to do!

• Lurking from the PAIF mom thread

@halfanewt I did IUI to get pregnant, but I lifted weights and did an intense yoga class my entire pregnancy without any issues. As long as there's nothing like an sch, you should be good to get back to what you were doing. Just listen to your body and don't over due it.
• @persnickity that’s good to hear, thanks! It’s been okay so far, aside from sheer exhaustion, but that seems to happen regardless of exercise :)

@sarzee2 it’s tough, right? I’ll let you know if I get any interesting info from my doc. Are you doing anything now?

@hottietoddy thanks for the info! I get really anxious if I take it too easy (being sick last week was the worst!) so being able to get back to it would be awesome. It’s been okay so far, but I’ve been taking it fairly easy. I guess I’ll try a slow ramp up and see how it goes?
• Hi everyone, I know the week is over, but I wanted to join in as we finally had our first ultrasound yesterday confirming pregnancy!

How far along are you? EDD?
7w, September 21st, but may change based on babies growth measurements, will find out at next OB appointment

Any recent/upcoming appointments?
Had our first ultrasound yesterday, confirmed di/di twins, 2 gestational sacs with good, strong heartbeats. Baby A was 131 measuring 7w1d and Baby B's HB was 135 and measuring 6w4d, we were 6w6d at day of appointment. First OB appt/Next Ultrasound is scheduled for 3/6/18, can't wait to see the little babies again. Definitely starts to feel more real after ultrasound and pictures.

Any concerns?
Still anxious and nervous of course after everything we've been through with IF, but not sure that will ever going away. Just hoping that with each milestone will feel a little more comfortable.

How are you feeling?
Symptoms come and go, had nausea and vomiting for about a week, but made some med adjustments, including changing dose and timing of metformin and it seems to have settled down. Definitely feel strange, wake up starving and nauseous at the same time and that feeling lasts pretty much all day. Also, very tired, I work from home so am able to take a rest/nap in the afternoon, but if I don't I have absolutely no energy and am useless the rest of the day

Questions?
Does anyone know if twins automatically makes a pregnancy high risk, meaning do you have to see a high risk OB, or is that an individual basis?

GTKY: I would love to travel and tour Europe, but right now, living in MA in February (although we did have two REALLY warm days this week), would love to go somewhere warm with a beach, sunny skies and just relax.

• @bethann1022 you are just a couple says ahead of me! We are also expecting di-di twins around late September!

1st cycle of IVF started April 9, 2017. ER- 15R, 7M, 5F, 4 frozen, 1 transferred. BFN

I'm blogging about it here

• @dragonfly6191 what day was your transfer? so exciting, especially once you hear/see the heartbeats! When is your next appt?
• @bethann1022 Jan 26th! My fertility clinic released me last week- I see my OB this Monday- will be 7+2. We saw heartbeats last week so they aren’t planning to do another U/S for a few weeks, just an initial appt

1st cycle of IVF started April 9, 2017. ER- 15R, 7M, 5F, 4 frozen, 1 transferred. BFN

May 2017- Hysteroscopy

Hi guys - small update had bleeding yesterday again so back to modified bedrest for weekend. I freaked out when happened but my mom came over and took care of me and calmed me down. Will go to sono Monday. I've been more active so SCH might just be back. Happened after I was moving a few things around in shed. I like to blame myself but was probably going to happen sometime and just time to take it easy again.

@lablover78 I have been wondering how your bedrest is going and thinking about you. With this pregnancy brain I keep forgetting to ask. So wanted to see how you are doing and how your SCH is going.

Also we told my in-laws , husband's parents and sister. Sister told our little neices too. They are all nice and very excited. They were pretty polite, did on phone with my mom there with us for buffer/ moral support and it's a boy so they couldn't complain. I told em I didn't want to hear it so hopefully they get it, but will be ongoing discussions and management of the relationship. At least now I can be more open about what all is really going on and what we want and need.

So in for one boring weekend but I've been here before and trying to stay calm and enjoy.
• @hottietoddy I’m sorry you had a scare but so glad your mom is nearby and supportive. My bleed has lessened greatly so I’ve sort of gone back to life although I still avoid anything with prolonged standing/walking, lifting and have been working from home 1-2 days per week. I haven’t had another u/s since 10wk (just hit 13w today) so I’m so anxious for them to check on the lo - first OB appt Monday finally. Also we still haven’t had sex since finding out about PG so I guess im still on modified bedrest after all lol - just don’t want to risk anything. Hope you find something to occupy your mind this weekend! Thanks so much for asking.

@Dragonfly6191 & @bethann1022 congrats! And how great that you have each other through the process!

How far along are you? EDD?
6 weeks today. I haven’t gotten my adjusted due date but I am thinking 9/28-9/29? I have an appt on Wednesday and will ask.

How are you feeling?
Feeling pretty good for the most part. I start to feel a bit yucky when I haven’t eaten and I’ve noticed I’ve had quite a bit of headaches lately so I am trying to pinpoint my trigger for those.

GTKY
I am turning 30 this May and really want to celebrate with a baby moon to Maui. Unfortunately I don’t see that happening since we are now looking at buying double everything! Maybe a weekend trip to the coast is more feasible :)
