@northbeach3, yeah, sure. Hcg was slow to get rolling and started very low, so that's why I had so many betas. They started to increase exponentially by the 3rd one though, and we're finally in a good range for dpt!
#1 at 8dp5dt was 5 #2 at 10dp5dt was 9 #3 at 13dp5dt was 61 #4 at 16dp5dt was 370 #5 (today) at 20dp5dt was at 1690.
I just got word that after today's, we're done with betas and my RE is extremely happy with how this LGB picked up the pace.
@northbeach3 yes, first one! I guess I’ve been having symptoms of some sort every day, so I hadn’t really thought about it. The crampy days are the most nerve wracking, though...
@zwink1 yeah!!! way to go little bean... s/he was just a slow implanter!
@halfanewt fortunately haven't had too many cramps... mostly alternating btw nausea and extreme fatigue.
@efavell02 i'm jealous of your third beta, haha! i did call to try to get on my OB's calendar once I "graduate" even though my RE hadn't told me to start making appointments... they wanted "proof of pregnancy" so I may have to reschedule until after my 7w u/s... but they did say I could go in to the quest lab to have my blood drawn for various tests (before coming in for the appt with the OB)... so I may go do the labs b/c those usually get posted in my medical portal... the upshot is that the could get me in pretty quickly, so I'm less worried about not being able to get an appt for 2 months.
The nurse just called me to confirm pregnancy, but my number is only 74 so she wants me to come back in on Friday to re-do it. I am having all sorts of flash backs from my pregnancy with my daughter after going through IVF. Not the reaction I thought I was going to have after hearing from the nurse....
@estellegetty, do you have any guesses as to when you may have Od/how many dpo you might be? You might be totally fine, but I totally get the stress associated with the beta game. Hang in there, and I'll be sending good vibes for a great increase on Fri.
@estellegetty - My beta was only 45 on 11 DPO. I had to go back for another beta and the number tripled. Stay positive and get that second beta scheduled!

@pebbledam thanks so much for your encouraging words. I really needed it today! I’m going for my second Beta on Friday! My husband and I decided that I’m pregnant until I’m not so I need to start thinking positively! I’m really glad we have this thread on this BMB.
@zwink1 unfortunately I don’t know when I Oed. I’m still nursing my 17 month old so my periods are still irregular. I know my LMP was Jan. 5th and we DTD on January 19? Friday can’t come soon enough!
@estellegetty i agree with everyone else, hold your judgment until you've had your second beta! my first beta was only 20.9 on 11dpo/fertilization. i went in again on 15dpo/fert and it was almost 300. after reading about betas, it all depends on implantation, which can happen anywhere between 6dpo and 12dpo, with most on day 7-9dpo. I read that it can take 2 - 3 days for hcg to build up in the bloodstream.
Hi all! I'm a PCOS mama. We've done a LOT through our journey to completing our family. 6 years of IF, clomid, 5 IUIs, a uterine polypectomy, IVF where the ER got 1 mature egg (which became my oldest son who is almost 7). A whole new round of IVR with better results, 11 eggs/7 embryos, a failed single transfer, a successful double transfer (4 yo b/g twins). This pregnancy will be my last since I'm considered high risk, I'm old (37), chubby, and my other pregnancies all resulted in preemies (27 week DS, 33+2 week DS/DD). We did a single 5day FET Jan 26. BFP Jan 31 - 5dpt Beta 1 - 119 9dpt Beta 2 today - 285 11dpt Potential due date Oct 14/18 Looking forward to taking this journey with you all!
Hi All. First I am so excited to tell someone besides my husband that I am pregnant!! So thanks for being my space to share. We have been ttc our second child for 15 months with two early losses mixed in. With the first loss, we told our family right away after the positive test because we were so excited (when you have a first normal pregnancy, you aren't riddled with anxiety quite like you after a loss), and the only thing worse than the doctor telling you that you have a non viable pregnancy is having to go back and tell everyone again.. so we kept the second pregnancy and loss all to ourselves and got to an RE. We learned that we have serious male factor infertility. Hubby's count was fine, but his motility and morphology were 20% and 1% (which explained the early losses as well) So she recommended IUI because he had a decent count and figured it would help weed out the bad sperm and get it closer to the egg. Infertility is a rabbit hole.. we started out saying.. if it doesn't happen, we are meant to have 1 child, we don't want to spend all of this money for the possibility of getting pregnant and it not happen.. but then we had two losses.. and we had a reason and potential solution.. so we decided to pay (of course our insurance covers no fertility) for an IUI. This was our first cycle with clomind, ovidrel and two back to back iuis. I had two great follicles (24 and 22) on day of trigger and was so excited. When I went in for my first IUI the NP was not very friendly and then while reviewing my husband's SA for the IUI said that it was an incredibly low number.. only 1.5 mil and they like a minimum if 5 and prefer 10 and that I should talk to the RE before trying another cycle. I sat there crying the whole 15 minutes that they tell you lay after they are done. I didn't want to tell my husband how upset I was, because I didn't want to sound annoyed that his sperm count is so low (he is very healthy.. so this came as a surprise to us) but I did tell him how the nurse was flat and matter of fact that this probably wasn't going to work.. and I feel like I just kissed 2000$ away. When I went in the next day, I had another nurse and she reviewed his numbers and said that they were low.. but all it took was one and then she was joking about stabbing the top of my uterus because she was gonna get those suckers as close to the egg as possible and I left feeling so much better. Not very hopeful, but still feeling better. Fast forward to 9 dpo on Saturday.. I have been testing out the trigger because I am a POAS addict.. and hcg levels fascinate me.. I had just had my first blank test the day before.. but once it was dry I swore I could still see a little something.. I had said I wasn't going to test until 10dpo because that is when I get my positives...but I decided.. what the heck.. I have a bunch of Wondfos.. so I peed and within a minute I could see a clear as day line.. no squinter after it dried.. I moved onto FRER and it was a clear pink line....I was paranoid it was still the trigger.. but it was so dark. Of course.. my husband had just boarded a plane to another country for two week work trip an hour before I got my positive text..so I sent him pics over text.. he is cautiously excited. I have continued to test and they are getting darker quickly (which never happened with my losses) and my beta is on Thursday! If you are still with me, thanks! It felt good to get that all out! Happy to be joining you ladies in a BMB!!
@kaza512 - Welcome and we're so happy to have you. IF is a total mind fuck and it's so hard to go through alone. Congrats on your BFP and FX for a sticky little bean!!

I'm 36 and DH is 42. We've been TTC for about 3 years. Went through multiple cycles of femara + TI with no success. Finally got a referral to an RE in spring of 17. Went through 5 cycles of IUI with clomid then femara and increasing doses of follistim + trigger shot.
Finally got my first BFP ever on jan 27th. I've had 2 betas with good rise and go back to the RE later this morning. Hoping they do my first US today!!!
Super excited to be here!! Can't wait to get to know everyone!
I asked my clinic to do a 3rd beta because i was so nervous and today it was 8,000! So happy! I feel like I can breathe a tiny bit easier leading up to our Feb. 22nd ultrasound!

I just wanted to thank all of you for sharing! My best friend is currently going through IVF, and although we talk a lot about it I also don't like to pester her with questions. It's good seeing things from all of your perspectives ❤️
yay @efavell02!! i bet that's a huge relief!! i did POAS again today b/c i was feeling less symptoms... but hopefully that's the last one for awhile. finally coming to "acceptance" and presume that if something DID happen, my body would make it pretty darn obvious. and that even if i'm not feeling symptoms, things can still be progressing and i should be thankful for less nausea!
@northbeach3 if it makes you feel better, besides bloat making it look like I am a billion years pregnant, I currently feel zero symptoms. None. Nada.
Also, how is this for a mindf*ck- I feel like this can't be real because of how 'easy' this was. Like, who gets pregnant on a fresh transfer first time? Then I remember it wasn't easy at all- 3 medicated cycles, 3 IUIs, one canceled IVF cycle, and then a second IVF cycle...but it still feels 'too easy'.
@kiwi2628 I feel the same way! Then I remember that it’s taken years and money and tears... and still kinda feel like I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. Enjoy your symptom free time, I guess?
@northbeach3 I’ve definitley asked myself that question in the last couple weeks - if something were wrong we’d know, right? Glad your symptoms are leveling out, though!
Had my first scan today! Coming off a uterine surgery so they wanted to make sure it implanted correctly. Measuring 5 week 5 days and we saw a heartbeat of 110! Have one more scan next week and then if all goes well I graduate to the regular schedule. So far so good!
@northbeach3 Thanks! I'm 5w5d today. 25dpIUI. They did do an US today to check that little speck was in good position but couldn't see anything but the yolk sac. Go back again on the 21st for another US.
Not sure if I belong here. TTC for at least 3 years. No luck. Did some testing and found I had pcos with regular periods and ovulation per NFP. That was hard but rolled with it. We decided to not do any more testing past SA. We have been not preventing nor trying for at least 2 more years and just got a BFP for the first time ever about a week ago. Confirmed with blood work and have a dating ultrasound next week. My journey hasnt had losses, ivf, or pregnancy (until now) if I this isn't my place that is ok. No hard feelings I do want to say all of your ladies are strong and amazing!
@SweetSweetTooth I’d say if you had to wait that long and do testing to figure out what’s wrong, you belong with us Just because you didn’t do treatments doesn’t mean you didn’t go through a hell of a lot to get here. Congrats on your BFP!!

@SweetSweetTooth Infertility happens in so many ways. 3 years of TTC definitely means you have felt the frustration that so many people don't understand when trying to build their families. Congrats on your BFP and welcome!!!
@efavell02 I'm on estrogen pills and prog. supps and can't wait to stop taking them. I'll be on them until 10 weeks, so middle of March. But I understand the hesitation!
@efavell02 no suppositories and patches here. I get shots and pills. I believe my RE requires that I keep taking the estrogen and doing the PIO shots until week 12, soooo no end in sight here. But, I totally get your fear and will probably be the same way when I get to the end of this stage. I in no way, shape, or form trust my body at the moment.
Got a call from my midwife about my initial blood work and I was put on oral progesterone because mine was low. Glad it isnt the suppository as that sure doesnt sound fun.
@kiwi2628 I relate so much to what you said. I have thought th exact same thing - this was easier than I thought it would be. But it really wasn’t easy at all! I have the sharps containers to prove it
@efavell02 I am taking PIO shots and I can’t wait until I’m finished with them. My butt is lumpy and I’m kind of over it lol
I called my RE (even though this pregnancy we conceived without medicine or treatment) because he knows us well from our journey with IVF with our daughter back in 2016. He completely understood why I'm such a nervous Nellie and he said he will do an ultrasound tomorrow for me as well as redraw my beta so I don't have to go all the way back downtown to my OBGYN. SCORE!!!! FX we get good news tomorrow.
@efavell02 I'm still on the progesterone suppositories, 3 times daily... not sure how much longer I'm supposed to be on them. I have my first u/s next Thursday and I'm hoping that they will start to ween me off of them.
@SweetSweetTooth I have a very similar story. We have been trying just over 2 years and I found out in October by going to a fertility clinic that I have PCOS but also ovulate too. They gave me metformin and it helped me lose 10 lbs within 3 months. DH also has 29% DANA fragmentation so we just had a longer time "connecting" the good egg with the good sperm. We planned to do 3 months of cycle monitoring and then do IUI if that didn't work. First month it worked, which is still a shock to me!
I understand your frustrations and agree that yes we might have had it easier than most but we still did struggle with the anxiety/ stress of years of trying. I also agree these ladies are strong and brave for all they have been through.
Me 33 DH 41 TTC since 2016 Due: October 12, 2018 Location: Ontario, Canada
I'm feeling the anxiety! Ultrasound tomorrow.. Spotting lightly last couple days, normal?? I dont know if ill ever feel like its real! Fingers crossed for good news.. (Four failed IUI, first IVF took)
Midwest Momma to be + Dog Mom to Riley, Beagle/Boxer/Snarfer Baby Blob due Oct 7! PAIF 2+ years!
On an ultrasound what can the technician tell you and what are they not allowed to say? I go for my dating ultrasound Wed and I have never done a pregnancy ultrasound! I did a trasvaginal one to diagnose pcos. I am worried I will have false hope during the ultrasound or I will be lost knowing if we have a baby yet or not.
