  • @knw007 I need to be better about boundaries, too.  Glad you all are getting more sleep!

@SaVy_05 I am sure my house will be a disaster for a while and I think I'll just have to let it go, or have DH handle a bigger chunk than normal.

    How far along are you? Girl/boy/team green? 26 + 6 / Boy

How old are your other kids? DD turns 3 later this month.

Rants/Raves/Questions (related to being a STM, stages your kids are going through, or anything else)? DD just caught another cold. Seriously, we're about 2 weeks on with a cold, 1 week free from a cold this year. Constant cycle. I don't know if it's preschool (it's our first year) or just because this winter is so bad, but it stinks! Luckily, she hasn't been sick otherwise *fingers crossed*. Also, our bathroom reno is done!!! So happy! Now I just need to get our stuff in there and use it.

GTKY:  What is something you plan on doing differently with this baby and why? I cloth diapered with DD and while I really loved it at first, I plan on disposables for this one. They're just easier! We did a diaper service with DD, so I don't own any diapers (just covers), so it was actually more expensive than disposables too. And after we moved to the suburbs from NYC, I didn't like the service in the 'burbs as much. The only way I will go back to cloth is if blow-outs are out of control since I know that cloth keeps it in better.

@mileswithmyles Not sure about the dressing themselves question. DD will put on some of her clothes sometimes if she feels like it.  :) But she can't do it all very well; depends what it is. I still pull up her undies/pants after almost every single bathroom trip.

@SaVy_05 I worry about the cleaning too. I dream of a cleaning lady...although I know that won't help with the day-to-day. Can't imagine it with 4 kids!

    @knw007 Yes -- sleep!! That's awesome.

  • @knw007 yay for sleep!!
@maplemom18 glad your bathroom is finished!!

How old are your other kids?
    16 months

Rants/Raves/Questions (related to being a STM, stages your kids are going through, or anything else)? 2 year molars are starting and I’m already not enjoying them.

GTKY:  What is something you plan on doing differently with this baby and why? I definitely need to set more boundaries with visitors this time especially at the beginning. We have big families and DS is the first grandkid on both sides so our house was and still is a revolving door of visitors or us going to our parents houses.

I did start pumping right away last time and was able to get a good freezer stash for when I went back to work. I’m a stay at home mom now but plan to start pumping again so dad can help with feedings and maybe even get in a date night once in awhile lol

  • I've been terrible about posting here.  I'm so sorry!

DS is 2 (3 at the end of March)

Rants/Raves/Questions (related to being a STM, stages your kids are going through, or anything else)?
Rant - DS is going through a stage where he is hitting and pushing other kids.  He just transitioned to another room at his Montessori school and they are 3-6 year olds.  I didn't hear about him hitting or pushing from his previous teacher, so either she was poor at communicating these issues, or this is something he is picking up from a group of rowdy boys (the DC's words, not mine).  After working all day, I hate having to go home and be mean mommy/disciple him for not being kind.

Rave - DS is super excited about this baby.  He felt her move the other day and keeps asking to feel my tummy.  He says she is coming out soon.  LOL  It's cute.  I hope he loves her this much AFTER she's born.

GTKY:  What is something you plan on doing differently with this baby and why?
I'm definitely with those of you saying that you're going to pump sooner.  Partly because I have to due to a shorter maternity leave, and also because I feel like I ran out of my freezer stash quickly last time.  I want to make it a full year of nursing and I made it 11 months with DS before having to supplement.  I was able to introduce cow's milk, but I was disappointed that I didn't get the full year.

  • @maplemom18, yes! A cleaning lady sounds amazing! Unfortunately it won't actually happen, thankfully my husband is great about pitching in and doing more when needed.

@clee5711, I'll be staying home again after this LO is born as well, I'm wanting to pump for the same reason, as well as outings, etc. My brother is getting married this year and I'm not 100% sure I'll be able to easily nurse in certain dresses at showers, wedding, etc.
  • @maplemom18 not sure if you found a disposable brand you like, but we love bambo nature. They are compostable and clean. We went back and forth on cloth diapering but decided not to and were happy with this choice!

Rants/Raves/Questions (related to being a STM, stages your kids are going through, or anything else)?
DS has been very difficult, needy and whiny the past few days. Grandma is visiting so I’m not sure if it’s that (he normally acts better with her!), his age or something else... school conference is tomorrow so fx things at school haven’t changed

GTKY:  What is something you plan on doing differently with this baby and why?

i ended up EP’ing after a few months bc DS hated latching and preferred the bottle. I really want to make breastfeeding work out this time. Also, I’d love for my birth plan of med free at the birth center to work out this time!
  • @holli0801 Yes, I used Bambo Nature with DD once we switched to the disposables. I love them! Thanks for reminding me. We've been gifted some other brands already, so I'll alternate a bit, but I'll use Bambo Nature most often.

Rants/Raves/Questions (related to being a STM, stages your kids are going through, or anything else)?
-Getting to the point where it’s hard to put socks/shoes on bc of belly. DS sat low but this little guy is even lower. Uhg.

GTKY:  What is something you plan on doing differently with this baby and why?
-Baby wearing so I can keep up with my active toddler. I planned to baby wear with DS but in the end I didn’t do it as much as others seemed to do. This time around it’ll force me to out of necessity.
  • @hcrish yes, I definitely plan to baby wear with this one. We have the Sully wrap but I only used it a few times. Im going to have to get better with it. I’m also looking into the Lilliebaby.
  • @clee5711 & @hcrish, I'm going to baby wear this time too.  I'm a little nervous about it because I tried a Moby wrap with DS and it was terrible.  I'm not sure if I tied it wrong, but it always felt like he was falling out of it.  I have an Ergo with the infant insert, but the insert is SO thick.  End of May weather will not work with it.

  • @JNCPro3130 We have the Ergo too and have used it many times over the last 2yrs. I never wrapped, and plan to try it this time around, but feeling lost on deciding which brand to go with...so many options on brands, fabrics, and cost!
  • @hcrish, love babywearing! My favorite is my lillebaby carriers! They are so versatile and comfy. I also love that there's no infant insert for any of the complete models!
  • I plan on baby wearing since I will also have my toddler running around. I have an Eddie Bauer carrier with an infant insert and I never used it because I was worried about DD falling out.

How old are your other kids?
    - 5 & 2 1/2yo girls

Rants/Raves/Questions (related to being a STM, stages your kids are going through, or anything else)?
-I actually have to rave on the girls because since we implemented the magnet chart they’ve consistently been STTN (well, I don’t know if they’re waking but they’re following the “don’t wake Mama before the sun is up” rule. I don’t care what they’re doing as long as I get my sleep!)

GTKY:  What is something you plan on doing differently with this baby and why?
-Getting an effing minivan because juggling an infant carrier and two other kids between cars in the parking lot will be easier. I should have made the leap last time! I’m also not pulling out my CD unless I absolutely have to. I was all about CD with DD1 but now... ain’t nobody got time fo dat.

@mileswithmyles DD1 was 4 or 1/2 but DD2 is dressing herself already. Sometimes those second kids just do everything so much sooner! But if your DS is almost 4 then he’ll get there soon... fx!
  • @sandbar517 Yes!  I wish the Weego was available at Babies R Us or Amazon so we could put it on our registry!  Those nice twin carriers are $$$ but they look so amazing!!

And, I don't have a lot of patience for realtors either.  Sometimes houses are sold very quickly so they have to be quick to respond and set up showings!
  • @nhardler Exactly!  Like I said, we're not ready to put any offers in like, today, or anything, but if we could work out a contingent sale or something, it might still be worth starting to look!
As far as the carriers go, maybe you could drop subtle hints to someone close to you that you wish you could put it on your registry, but you can't.....maybe someone will get the hint and buy it for you anyway!

Rants/Raves/Questions (related to being a STM, stages your kids are going through, or anything else)?
Rants- while I love my son being so loving the constant touching me all the time drives me insane some days. We're also in the test the limits stage and my lack of patience makes it hard.
GTKY:  What is something you plan on doing differently with this baby and why?
Not cosleep! Mainly because there's no more room in the bed lol the fist in the face or feet on the back is really getting to me. I feel like I will have a way easier time getting a newborn to sleep in a crib then fighting with my son to sleep on his own...at least I hope.

  • @desguti023 I’m looking at Siennas. My stepdad is a buyer for a dealership and he recommendsd Siennas and Odysseys- we are just loyal to Toyotas so we’re sticking with the brand. Most people I know with vans have an Odyssey and they love them, though.
  • @desguti023, we have an Odyssey and absolutely love it!
  • I’ve already accepted that my next car will be a mini van. It just seems so much easier than an suv. I have a CR-V now and a second car seat barely leaves room for a small adult to ride in the middle.
  • How far along are you? Girl/boy/team green?

Rants/Raves/Questions (related to being a STM, stages your kids are going through, or anything else)?

Rave - My son is reminding me how impressionable he is recently, soaking up what he hears us say and reciting it back.  This week he asked me what MY favourite part of the day was! Too sweet.

Rant - he had his first public meltdown in Chapters this week and was screaming ‘no’ in my face. I feel like this might be somewhere a right if passage tho?!

GTKY:  What is something you plan on doing differently with this baby and why?

I’m going to sleep more, or try too. Last time I insisted on doing all of the nighttime feedings on my own and refused to bottle feed him until he was three months old (I was terrified of risking ‘nipple confusion’, which came at the cost of my mental health). But not no mo, this time I’m planning to let dad do some evening feedings. I’m sure it will make for a healthier and happy mommy this time around.

  • @desguti023 We have a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country.  I love it.  Granted, we didn't do a ton of shopping at different brands, because we bought it used, so we were pretty much looking for the features I wanted in our price range instead of for specific makes/models.  I've had it almost a year now, and I really have no complaints, or anything I would change about it at all.  Except it has leather seats and no seat warmers.  Not fun in the winter.  Other than that, I love everything about it and will never go back to a regular car until my kids are much, much older.  The difference between an SUV (even if it has three rows) and a minivan is life changing.
@mlindzz I did the same thing for the first few weeks, until I couldn't handle it anymore.  I started letting MH do the 11:30-12 midnight feed so I could get at least 4 hours of continuous sleep and it made me into a new person.  After supplementing them with formula for the first week or so because of their blood sugars, giving them pacifiers, and then going on to breastfeed successfully for a year, I'm convinced nipple confusion isn't really as much of a thing as people seem to think.
