Why would anyone try to sell land where half the lot is the side of a VERY steep hill? We looked at a lot this weekend and were just floored. like wth were people thinking? nobody's going to be able to build here without it being a colossal money pit!
@catlady1215 depending on the area you could build a pretty cool house on a hill. We have family that has a sick house basically built on stilts with the entrance at the top of the hill. But unless it’s somewhere like Los Angeles like theirs is, yeah it doesn’t make sense.

@josie12367 I heard lots of crickets on Superbowl night! I kept checking TB hoping for activity, but everyone was out partying while I was home washing my new glass food storage containers and organizing the cupboards. I live an exciting life! MH asked why I switched to glass containers and threw out the old stuff. I told him they were for my egg quality. He looked at me like I was crazy.
I have nothing interesting to talk about. I want to try making yogurt...anyone have a good recipe?
@offtoneverland ooo... new containers sound lovely! I've been making a conscious effort to not heat things up in plastic anymore, but we still use plastic for storage/leftovers. I'd love to switch to all glass, but it'd be a fight w/ H, also we don't have enough cupboard space (plastic compacts so easily).
AFM... I'm celebrating that today is a no upset stomach/no vitamin puking day! Yesterday I yakked after my PNVs for the first time, apparently hummus, carrots, & pretzels was not enough in the stomach. I think the Provera earlier in the AM was partially to blame too... btw maybe this is better suited for the ?/CS thread, but is it weird to start getting side effects for Provera 1/2 through the script vs right away? Like I notice hot flashes right away, but those have subsided and now it's night sweats, slightly upset stomach, insomnia, and boob soreness. Stupid Provera giving me the crazies.

Yeah @lurvleybunchococonuts it did that to me too. It's going to feel like a TWW because it's fooling your body, and hormones right now. Those are all normal symptoms unfortunately.
@offtoneverland@lurvleybunchococonuts I’m thankful I switched to glass before MH & I started dating! We both grew up using leftover containers (ex: sour cream, cool whip, butter) for food storage. That, or real Tupperware. Complete opposite ends of the spectrum

I’m at the DMV. Joy. One of my coworkers told me that DH’s license could be suspended since we hadn’t turned in the plates from our totaled car, but took it off our insurance. So here we are. Also FINALLY got my stupid orthotics this morning, and have my psychiatrist appointment in two hours, and then DH has physical therapy a few hours after that due to a minor work injury. Then we’re gonna go to Petsmart to look at the kitties they have for adoption. Busy day!
@josie12367, yours or someone else's? I feel like I am always finding people's dogs. DH thinks I try and help ones that aren't lost and gets really annoyed when I bring them home. Lol
@lurvleybunchococonuts ugh provera has had me so sick this time. I usually just get mild hot flashes but ive been really nauseous too. And the crazies too lol. Def should have waited to watch This Is Us until I'm done with this script.
@josie12367 awe nice. We seem to get a lot of dogs in our yard too and I love reuniting them with their families.
@dreamscapes_ yay for adopting a kitty. You'll have to post a pic when you find one!
@jrm_14 No, someone who lives near our neighborhood bus stop. He apparently slipped out an open gate. I got him right before he went onto the main road. He looked like an old guy with cataracts starting up. His momma was grateful. They just moved here, and didn't realize how easy the gates in that neighborhood blow open with high winds....and we get lots of wind storms here!
ETA: This is the third dog i've caught, and returned in the past month in that one area. Glad i'm a dog person, and they like me too it seems.
@offtoneverland making yogurt is pretty easy. There are tons of recipes for crockpot/instant pot too. You basically just put a scoop of storebought live culture yogurt in a container of milk and keep it warm for a length of time.
DD1: June '16 DD2: March ‘19 :::: Married since 2011 :::: USN Wife ::::
@krissy2241 We're most likely not adopting one yet. Just going to look at them, lol. We don't have the money for our complex's pet fee (and are moving in 6 months), so we're likely just going to wait until we move.
So apparently there's a new product called "lady Doritos." They're less crunchy, cleaner on your fingers, and can conveniently fit in your purse. You know, because we're socialized to believe men can eat loudly, lick messes off their fingers, and dump crumbs in their mouths while we ladies must not draw attention to ourselves while (God forbid) enjoying a snack.
Not to mention it's toxic masculinity. There are plenty of men who would rather not deal with cheesy fingers, noisy chips, and a pile of crumbs on their laps while they eat. Marketing a product like this as "just for women" inhibits men from expressing disgust at standard Doritos because their dudebros will make fun of them.
And the CEO talking about this idea is a woman herself. Rather than trying to smash the patriarchy she's meekly complying by marketing bullshit quiet chips to women so we can eat in silence like we're supposed to. Fuck that.

@lurvleybunchococonuts - Oh, thank goodness! I like Doritos' response tweet: We already make Doritos for women. They're called Doritos.
In any case, I just finished my very lady-like snack of Cheez-its. Conveniently packaged to fit in my purse. Now, if they could figure out a way to make a bag of chips fit in my Weight Watchers Smartpoints budget, that would be amazeballs. That little indulgence cost me 4 points.
Sitting on my break listening to all the customers in the pharmacy, knowing I will have to get off my arse in a minute and help out but I really just want to sit here and let it develop into chaos. The joys of sole charge
@lurvleybunchococonuts Yeah, the new containers are so nice but they take up a lot more room. We don't have a lot of room as it is, so I understand wanting to stick with plastic. I kept a few plastic containers (because they're so easy!), but I'm going to try to not heat them up in the microwave as well. I'm sorry you've been feeling sick from your vitamins! I have to take mine with a decent breakfast, otherwise I'll get sick too. Glad to hear you had a good day and didn't have an upset stomach. @jrm_14 What do you do with the receipts? Do you just tell them you don't want it? I have to say that chapter of ISWTE was kind of demoralizing, because BPA and plastic is everywhere! I was feeling all impressed with myself when the author was talking about BPA, thinking "Good for me! We don't have any BPA containers!" then she started discussing the dangers of non-BPA plastic containers as well. It's everywhere! @meggyme Thanks! The idea of making my own yogurt totally grosses me out, but I'm going to try it. Hopefully it works out! @galactickates Do tell us about this amazing PB&J! Was it homemade? @josie12367 I have to tell you...your siggy makes me swoon. Every time I see it I giggle and blush like a boy-crazed teenager. I can't help it! Okay, I spent too long looking for the perfect Tom Felton gif and now I have to STOP. *fans self*
I just tested my previous 5k times by two minutes. That includes full blown peeing my pants and falling off the treadmill.
Speaking of chips. I felt miserable yesterday at work from a migraine, and when I feel like that, I like to eat junk. So I went to the vending machine to get a coke and a snack. I saw funyons and was excited. I got back to my office and they were nasty. The bag said "baked not fried" which I didn't realize funyons were not always baked. I felt so miserable it made me want to cry. But then I found brownies in the kitchen someone had made and ate 3.
ETA... I really feel like most of that should be a FFFC and I should feel a little ashamed, but I don't. Lol.
I spent 20 minutes standing in line at the pharmacy tonight. Literally just standing. Not moving. In a line ten people deep. Because their corporate office has decided that all non-flagship stores will run with the bare minimum of people. Just... Ugh. In other news, am now officially (and finally) diagnosed with depression and anxiety, with prescriptions for an anti-depressant and an anxiolytic. I'm seriously considering asking my therapist if she thinks it's a good idea if we just bite the bullet and adopt a cat. I think it would help if we had a pet.
@dreamscapes_ definitely adopt a pet. Seriously I was NOT a pet person my whole life, that all changed last year when we adopted Lucy. Tw*loss* I had a loss in Nov I had to have surgery, while I was healing our dogs were by my side 24/7. End tw* They are so healing... pets are seriously little miracles sent to us as a reminder that there is always love in this world.
@dreamscapes_ ^^WSS. YAS! I 110% believe my cats help me when I'm having an anxiety attack or even just starting to feel overwhelmed. But MH, is probably a better example, he has bipolar and PTSD, amongst some other "fun" things. So when he has down days, they can be pretty bad, Bohica, his kitty (ok she's both of ours, but he is her human) can tell and makes a world of difference with him. He would much prefer a dog (can't have one in our apt), but he will admit that she is better than any other dog he's had previously in his life. Tarfu, our orange kitty is a permanent fixture on his lap most days, but on his really bad days Bohica will no let him out of her sight and will be attached to his hip. Even my little demon kitten can tell if one of us is having a bad day. She will plop herself down on your lap and just start purring, licking, and headbutting you. I'm not saying it'll cure you, and you may still have to stay on medications *fluoxetine high five* but having a pet (or two, or three) is a great help. Never underestimate the power of cuddling something cute and fluffy when you're having a bad day.

@dreamscapes_ - do it. I was having so many anxiety issues before I adopted my first cat. I haven't been officially diagnosed BUT would definitely say that having them made me feel less anxious and less alone. I'm one of those super introverted people and have a harder time allowing people in. But when I adopted Bella, I had a wonderful, sweet, furry reason to smile and put myself out there. And we adopted a second (Callie) six months later. Whenever I have a hard day (and there's been a few of those lately), Callie is on my lap being a purr baby. Bella "talks" to me and rubs herself against me. There are a thousand smiles and laughs when the girls put on their spazzy pants and chase each other all around the house. And I'm reminded that no matter how sucky I feel things are atm, I have wonderful, loving, spazzy furbabies and it is such a help and a soother.
Before I worked from home, I would even use a white noise app at work that had a purring cat sound and ran it when I felt anxious. Something about the sound of a purring cat just instantly relaxes me. If you decide not to adopt right away, that may be something to try.
@galactickates I'm so sorry for your loss *creepy internet hug* I've had pets most of my life, so it's really only the last few years that I haven't. It's just coming down to our complex's stupid pet deposit. We don't have the money for it right now.
@lurvleybunchococonuts My old dog was a lot like YH's cat sounds. We're trying to work it out with the finances, but that's really what it's going to come down to, unfortunately. I really miss having an animal. I know it won't be a cure-all, but it'll help.
@catlady2015 That's what I'm hoping for, honestly. That once we have an animal in the house, it'll help things start to even out a little for both of our brains.
@dreamscapes_ - also here to encourage rescuing a cat! My cat is a great source of joy for me. I've had cats my whole life and can't imagine life without them. We got ours from Petco rescue center and she's a geezer now but she's always been an amusing and affectionate cat. Whether you're playing with them, petting them, or just laying on the couch with them purring on your chest, kitties are such lovely creatures.
More on my weight loss (mis)adventures: I weighed in yesterday and gained 2 pounds. Thinking it was a mistake, I weighed in this morning and gained another pound. SO MUCH FUN. I think I might have PMS. I need to stay off the scale until I'm done with my period. I literally gain 5+ pounds in water weight from PMS until I'm done with my period. It's the worst. But lucky me, today is weigh-in day for my work Weight Watchers meeting so this fun little gain won't be embarrassing at all. You know, considering this is our first one where we're supposed to actually lose weight. Most of the women in my meeting are menopausal (or post-menopause) so it's not like I can laugh with them about PMS weight gain
@wishiwaspreggo, sorry for the weight loss drama. I gained 5 pounds last week between being upset and PMS. I already lost it, but it just makes me realize I could possibly be 5 pounds less than now. I told myself I wanted to lose 20lbs before I am de-benched, and I have been stuck at the same 7 pound range. I have serious scale obsession and will weigh myself several times a day. I want to have DH hide the scale from me for a month and just see what happens.
Has anyone been following the Falcon Heavy launch? My H has been live streaming it at his work the last two days. We're super into space and I think it's so awesome what Elon is doing.
@galactickates I watched the live launch at work and it was amazing! My boss was in my office at the time and I didn't even hide what I was doing because this is the future of space travel! Also, my dream car is a Tesla Model X.
@offtoneverland I sdon’t tipsily stress way too much over some areas (like, the receipts) while eating $h!t like grocery store cake and craft doughnuts. I usually say I don’t want the receipt though sometimes they try to hand it to me before I say it. If Mh is with me, he expects me to take it (he is terrified of not having a receipt if he needs it). I haven’t explained my ridiculous thing with receipts to him bc he’ll be like, “uhhhhhhghhhhh.”
