Hello all my Advance Maternal Age Mamas. Here's our thread for discussing anything that relates to being a more age enriched mother to be. Please feel free to drop in throughout the month to share any thoughts, concerns or questions you may have
I'm planning to start my posts with a little note about my age and weeks pregnant, then launching into what I have to say, like this- "39/6 weeks: Today I noticed I was like old and stuff and pregnant. Anyone else notice that as a thing in their life?" I think it could be helpful to share age and how far along we are but wouldn't say it's strictly necessary
Re: AMA February Thread
I don't have anything coming up specifically relating to being an old lady, but I do have an ultrasound on Friday to determine viability. I'm told that if they find a happy little heartbeat that they will then set up my appointment with the MFM to discuss further testing and whatnot. I did the Panorama test with my last pregnancy and that's all I'm planning on doing this time unless there's an indicator that I need more testing than that.
Sometimes I get a little freaked out that I'll be 50 while my kids are still in grade school o_0 It was never my intention to wait this long to start having babies but life had other plans for me so here we are. I'm happy to be here in the place in my life that babies are finally happening but wish I could get a magical extension on my 40's or permission to stay 39 for about 5-6 more years. Anyone got an extra wish granting genie in a lamp laying around?
I have my first appt this week. And this is my first pregnancy being AMA. For those mama’s who have been through this, what questions are good to ask different than the normal stuff? I don’t think I’ll want to do genetic testing. I didn’t with DD. I asked if there was anything I could change if I did and my OB said no. I think we’d see something in US or the anatomy scan. My OB does US at every appt. I see him monthly until 32 weeks, bi weekly until 36 weeks, and weekly til delivery.
@ecrotty35 I am scheduled for the panorama test 2/20, my mw said it is similar to Mat21, she said that it takes 7-10 days to get results. We are doing mine a little later than they would if I wasn't overweight. Apparently that makes a difference in the ability to collect a good sample.
I feel old mainly because my oldest kid turns 18 this month. My friends who know are supportive, but also teasing me. I'll be changing diapers and helping DS move in to a dorm.
I've got my first appointment tomorrow and I'm really curious about which tests my Dr will want me to take.
Being pregnant with an active toddler is way harder than I expected. I'd forgotten how crappy the first trimester was. And it doesn't help that I'm catching every *$#!$ing thing he brings home from daycare. I haven't been healthy since I conceived.
2tsp mixed with 2 tbsp water every morning and night. Works like a charm.
