Are these products safe?

Hi everyone! I'm so sorry if you all are tired of posts like these or have answered similar questions previously. Mods- feel free to delete and tell me I'm crazy or move somewhere else

Are these face/body products safe? I spent a lot of time researching last night, but I'm still getting mixed answers online. Is there anyone with personal experience who can confirm? I use the following and I want to make sure I'm not harming my baby (I'm about four weeks along and will stop using/switch immediately if need be). I can provide pics if you need clarification.

1. Target Up & Up soothing body lotion with cocoa butter and shea (currently used after each shower, will use to help w/ stretch marks)
2. SoftSoft luminous oils AND coconut butter body scrub. I alternate usage as body wash when I shower.
3. Alba Botanica Good & Clean daily foaming cleanser (face wash)
4. Clean & Clear deep cleaning astringent (toner/ I  apply this after I use the face wash)
5. Target Up & Up moisturizer (I ONLY use this after product 3 and 4. I am still in the market for a night time moisturizer if you can recommend one)

Products #4, #5, and #6 are almost empty. I just bought a three pack of all of them in Clean & Clear brand (it's a step one, two, three package) to use next. Can anyone tell me if what I'm using is fine? Everything is used once a day at most. I'll admit, I work from home and sometimes slack with the face washing routine. What can you recommend for each of the above that can be bought at drugstore/Target prices (aka $10 or less) if everything I currently use is bad?

Thanks in advance!

  • Agree with the above. I have no experience with these specific products, but if you haven’t already just look at the “active ingredient” on each product and google whether it’s safe for pregnancy instead of searching based on the name of the product itself. The Clean and Clear stuff may have salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide and your doc may advise not to use them during pregnancy. Just bring them to your first doc appt if you are really concerned and see what she or he says.

  • Thanks! I have looked at the ingredient list AND searched to see if they were safe. But I'm still concerned, as I am getting mixed responses in regards to if they are safe or not. I'd like to think they are perfectly fine and I don't have to spend money on new products, so I think I'll continue using them (and ask a doctor if someone calls me back to schedule an appointment, ugh been trying since last Tuesday when I found out!).

Anyway- on a related note, if anyone does have a night time moisturizer they recommend, thanks in advance! And if anyone is using these products and can tell me to calm the f down and shut up, that would be great too!
  • As far as I know, the big no-nos are salicylic acid and retinols and I believe those are most commonly found in acne and anti-aging products, not general body wash, face wash, lotions.

There will be mixed responses on everything pregnancy related. Like PP mentioned, if a search of the active ingredients comes back ok I personally would be ok using a product.

As for using the lotion for stretch marks, you can still get them anyway. Unfortunately you're either predisposed to stretch marks or you're not. Lotion won't help prevent them if you're going to get them. It will however, help with dry itchy skin from your belly stretching.
