@starla.  I'm sorry you're still feeling so sick. (((Hugs)))  GL with the kitty!  She may be able to jump right over the gates, tho, no?  We would really only need one at the top of the stairs I think, but even then, it's going to be a while before s/he's crawling around upstairs... so I'm trying not to stress it.

@episcowitch We love old houses!  And we are renting too lol. So much less headache.  We have our baby box coming, too!  I should really track that actually, cos I practically forgot about it!  It should've been here by now!  :#

@BusinessWife She's almost 15 years old and she's overweight (like 16 lbs?). The last few months she refuses to even jump up on the bed and whines until we pick her up to put her on the bed. I doubt she will jump over the gates. I guess we'll have to figure something out.

Aww, poor sweet old fat kitty!  :D @starla we had gates before that had a mini door, so you could keep big dogs out, but let a kitty or a small dog through?  Problem is we found an ambitious kid could definitely still squeeze through too! But you could at least latch it maybe and just open it when you saw kitty wanted to get through?

@starla we have a gate with a pet door. DS could get through it for a while but he can’t now. We mostly just kept it closed while he was awake and Kitty stayed in the back room but it was the first thing i’d open once I put DS down for a nap or to sleep. Annoying but it works and isn’t going to be necessary forever.

How far along are you? How big is baby? 7w1d size of a Tic Tac

How are things going? How are you feeling? Just so tired all the time. Im in Hawaii right now with my parents so they’re helping a ton with DS, but i have zero energy or motivation to do anything.

Upcoming appointments? 2/1 for my first appt

What is your favourite thing about where you live? (House, neighbourhood, region etc.) I can have anything delivered in less than 2 hours. Food, Amazon, anything. Perks of living in between San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Also the weather is pretty awesome.

Any projects you've recently done around the house? (AWs encouraged) We built a huge deck over the ugly cracked cement side patio. We wrapped it around the back of the house to the back stairs and added a live edge wood bench along the whole fence. It definitely looks a little DIY but we’re pretty thrilled with it! Pic from DS’s birthday so you can kinda see the deck and bench. It rained the day before so things were a little muddy.

Any household projects that have been on the list for a while? One of the cabinets in my kitchen needs to be screwed back in on the top, the door is just kind of hanging but I always forget about it.

What do you think your biggest challenge will be getting the house set up for baby? Relocating Kitty. Right now the guest room is his safe space and main hangout. We’re moving all his stuff into our semi-finished garage and cutting a cat door for him.

    @episcowitch @BusinessWife baby box? Please elaborate  :)

@AdmiralKitty just imagining being in Hawaii made my rainy Wisconsin day better, thanks!!!!

How far along are you? How big is baby?
7+2 blueberry and now I really want to eat some

How are things going? How are you feeling?
I think adding some B6 has taken the edge off the nausea. I keep getting weird hot flashes, it feels like I have a sudden fever and I can't concentrate on anything except being miserable. Work has been crazy this month so that's not helping I'm hoping it settles down in a couple weeks when reporting season is done

    Upcoming appointments?
    First appointment 2/2

What is your favourite thing about where you live? (House, neighbourhood, region etc.)
I love that I can't see my neighbors and that our yard is a deer and turkey highway

Any projects you've recently done around the house? (AWs encouraged)
When we moved in (July) we pulled out the main level carpet and replaced it with a reclaimed mixed hardwood floor and it's gorgeous

Any household projects that have been on the list for a while?
Hiring a house cleaner because I just can't get it done with having a full time job and moderate social life with a toddler

What do you think your biggest challenge will be getting the house set up for baby?
DD is 20 months. Baby will likely just be in our room for six months, I guess I'm not worried about it... Yet

@BusinessWife Beautiful view!! I love the red barn in all that snow! We also have the challenge of having dogs in the house (3). We're hoping to set up something for them outside before the baby comes so they can run around during the day.

@episcowitch Hope it gets easier for you soon!

    @AdmiralKitty I love the deck!

@EErin86 That sounds awesome - the deer and turkey. My parents just recently had some wild turkeys move in on their land, and that's never happened. They are so fun to watch (when they can be found)

If you're due between Sept 8th and 14th, this is the check-in for you!

How far along are you? How big is baby?
    7 weeks. A blueberry.

How are things going? How are you feeling?
Feeling okay other than having a cold right now.

    Upcoming appointments?
    Jan. 29

What is your favourite thing about where you live? (House, neighbourhood, region etc.)
I love that our house is the same one where my grandparents raised their three children. And I love our tiny town with one caution light and one restaurant.

Any projects you've recently done around the house? (AWs encouraged)
    Recently painted the living room.

Any household projects that have been on the list for a while?
Well, pretty much every other room needs a fresh coat of paint...

What do you think your biggest challenge will be getting the house set up for baby?
Limited space. DS has already claimed the small bedroom next to the kitchen. And the other bedroom is currently DH's office. So, our bedroom is going to have to double as the nursery.

I’m 7 weeks today! Size of a blueberry!

I got really sick with morning sickness this week. I happened to have a regular dr. Appt on Monday and she prescribed Diclegis for the morning sickness. I kind of feel like I’m cheating - it has made me feel so much better. I had lost 10 pounds in the past 3 weeks. Now my appetite is back and I feel so much better. But I’m terrified of taking medicine while pregnant and I’m going to talk with my OB when I finally have my first appointment this week.

My appointment is on January 31 - and I can’t wait! I hope to see the heart beating strong! Also, I’m a FTM and have no clue what I’m doing and I just want to make sure everything is going well in there.

I love the weather here in LA. And there is a fantastic park right behind our apartment. I can’t wait to take walks with the baby in the park.

Around the house: We got married this year and we bought a photo printer and have been printing and framing our wedding pictures.

My house hold project that has been on the list: I need to reorganize my closet! It’s a disaster and I have been putting it off for a long time.

The challenge is is that we live in an apartment and my husband runs a business from home. We need more space even before the baby! But, we are very clean and organized (except for my closet) so I think we can make this work. The nursery will have to be in our bedroom. Prices in Los Angeles are out of control so we don’t think we can move anytime soon.

How far along are you? How big is baby?
7 weeks 4 days.  The size of a tic tac.

How are things going? How are you feeling?
Pretty good, though I've been experiencing a decent amount of nausea and insomnia.

    Upcoming appointments?
    2/2

What is your favourite thing about where you live? (House, neighbourhood, region etc.)
It's convenient to just about everything in our town.

Any projects you've recently done around the house? (AWs encouraged)
Last year we had our screened in porch converted to a sun room.  The project took way longer than the contractor originally quoted, but we're pleased with the outcome for the most part.

Any household projects that have been on the list for a while?
I desperately need to go through and donate a lot of the boys toys.  Also clean out the closet clutter.

What do you think your biggest challenge will be getting the house set up for baby?
Figuring out which of my older boys should share rooms so that there is a dedicated room for the baby.

@ready44. That will be fun adding to an already full house!  How old are your not-so-littles?
  • Options
@BusinessWife, they are 5, 3, and 1.  I'm fortunate enough to have a few different options.  Right now DS1 and DS2 have their own rooms.  We also have a guest room as well as a room we use as an "office", where DS3's crib is set up.   We have space enough; it's just deciding what we actually want to do.  Agreeing on that actually might be the hardest part.

If you're due between Sept 8th and 14th, this is the check-in for you!

How far along are you? How big is baby? 7+3. A “wee raspberry”.

How are things going? How are you feeling? Ready to have my energy and appetite back! Sleeping a lot which is helping.

Upcoming appointments? Next appt is 2/21 for first US!

What is your favourite thing about where you live? (House, neighbourhood, region etc.) I live  in my hometown so I am biased.  :D Living close to my family is absolutely my favorite thing. We have a huge backyard where we have hosted all of DD’s birthday parties and lots of parties with family and friends. I love the warmer climate, all of the great restaurants, concerts, festivals, and how the city has grown over the years.

Any projects you've recently done around the house? (AWs encouraged) We replaced our flooring ourselves in the Fall and we love it!

Any household projects that have been on the list for a while? Lots! We are getting ready to replace our front door and get all new furniture downstairs, plus paint our living area going upstairs. We are strongly considering selling within the next year, so I am sure we will only be adding to the list when we meet with a realtor!

What do you think your biggest challenge will be getting the house set up for baby? The switching around of rooms, for sure. Bedroom #2 is currently our playroom/workout room, #3 was the nursery and is DD’s current room, #4 is our guest room/storage area. We will be moving DD to #2 because it’s the biggest of the 3, the nursery will be in #3, and we are changing #4 from a guest room to our playroom/workout room. We will probably buy a nice air mattress for guests and they can stay in our living room when they visit. We have a lot of clearing out of stuff/rearranging of storage to do. I’m tired just thinking about it.  :o

@starla I am trying to remember what our two cats did! I don’t remember it being an issue for them. We spend a lot of time in our downstairs area, and I think we just left the gate open during those times. A gate with a cat door sounds like a great option, though!

How far along are you? How big is baby? 8 and 2 days, about an inch big

How are things going? How are you feeling? things seem to be ticking along just well which means that morning (most of the day) sickness is definitely here and tiredness.

Upcoming appointments?  Friday - my first

What is your favourite thing about where you live? (House, neighbourhood, region etc.)  Walking trails close by and the privacy

Any projects you've recently done around the house? (AWs encouraged) We just put up wallpaper that I got for $3 at a friends thrift store.  It matches nicely and is pretty modern.

Any household projects that have been on the list for a while? Our upstairs bathroom refresh if the contractor ever gets back to us

What do you think your biggest challenge will be getting the house set up for baby? House - fine.  Baby can share with the next oldest and will sleep in our room for awhile anyway.  Vehicle - not so much as we drive a 5 passenger crew cab....

I had another good ultrasound yesterday. Baby measured 2-4 days ahead (8w4d to 8w6d) with a heartbeat of 175-178. Still not getting hopeful but I feel my guard coming down a little.

I had my first ultrasound yesterday and everything looks good! Baby is measuring a few days ahead - but the dr. is keeping my due date at 9/14. I learned from you all that this is standard practice. Hearing the heartbeat was so amazing. We were both crying. I think my husband was in shock! Also, we told our mothers and his sisters yesterday and that was REALLY fun! All of this is amazing - but I’m still scared. There is a long way to go before the end of the first trimester. Thank you all for being here and creating this awesome community. As a clueless first time Mom - I really appreciate this!
