Has anyone had experience with this? I was reading this article and would like first hand thoughts about it? I personally think it might be a little crazy, but I am open to anything that has real benefits.

Re: Placenta Encapsulation
That said, I did it when I had my daughter. I felt I had a higher risk of suffering from ppd/ppa, and I wasn't taking antidepressants at the time. So, I thought, what the hell, I may as well give it a go. Besides encapsulation, I also did a placenta smoothie (the hippie is strong over here, lol).
I *think* they helped. Looking back, I think I did suffer mildly from ppd, and maybe it would have been worse otherwise. My milk came in fast and strong, but I have no reason to think it would not have otherwise. I will say, I got sick sometime after she was 1 and had a huge dip in my supply. I started taking my pills again, and my supply increased dramatically after a couple of days.
Studies have shown there is no benefit to doing this and it actually can be dangerous. A woman recently passed a blood infection to her baby through breastmilk because of this. There are also no laws in place to make the practice safe - the process doesn't kill all pathogens.
