@KristoKekerooni Our RE offered to push the ER one more day to accommodate my husbands work schedule. I think it getting pushed further is more common than it happening sooner. Yay for lots of follies!
@50Wife Good luck with your ER! Try not to fret too much. Just make sure you have all your bases covered, DH should have the on call number for your clinic and you should both know what to look out for if you do need to call. My only other recommendation to the other great advice you got is to take the pain meds before you're hurting and the anti-nausea before you're barfing.

@elothair sorry your body is messing with your schedule- though I have to say k more of us had a screwy cycle immediately before testing than not! What I would also say is, even if you haven’t got a positive OPK by CD22-5, then try going in anyway for the BW. It might be you missed your ovulation this time, or that it will be an-O. But they might be able to tell you and also get a hint why you’re there in the first place (even if it’s not your normal problem).
@jrm_14 I think it hits all of us as a shock the first medicated cycle that that TWW (or ten days, or 20 days depending on if your RE is a PITA like mine ) is suddenly even more intense than before. Some of it is the meds - but I think some is because treatment brings higher expectations. Hang in there, keep talking to your DH and vent here or in a PM when you need to.
@ndz2018 what FET protocol do they have you’re on? If you’re planning FET in March how come you start progesterone on 13th Feb? Normally I thought you start progesterone 5-6 days before FET (depending if the blast was a day 5/6).
@rvamom315 Fx on those AMH results! Do remember to only take them into account with Vitamin D levels - if they are low they suppress AMH. Also don’t forget to take it together with your AFC. One alone seems not very reliable overall...
@shortstack930 oooooh I’m on tenterhooks to hear how things look after your first US on weds!
@50wife I’m sure the ER will be a walk in the park - or at least after it will seem like it. If you’re not experienced in sedation etc then make sure they take their time with you to explain and answer your questions. My clinic had some great laughing gas which made you float off before they did the IV sedation. Apparently nobody falls off the chair - I asked to see statistics just to make sure! And when you come round and you’re on the heart rate and BP monitor, I like to “play” with the machine by holding my breath or breathing quickly just to see how much I can change my pulse or oxygen %s. (I can make by O2 go down to 80% just by breathing differently!!!) Just in case you need something to “do” until they let you sit up and have a magazine!
@lurvleybunchococonuts I’ve taken to doing everything in writing too. I also felt like I was being a pest at the start, but DH was very clear - we are the patients, we are paying lots of money (either OOP or for the insurance in the first place) and they are there to provide a service. We wouldn’t accept crappy service in a restaurant so why would we do so for our health? (As a traditional Brit who likes to avoid confrontation this does not come naturally for me!)
@avrilmai ohhhh the waiting. The waiting at every step is unbelievable. Fx the cyst is at least gone next week.
@alohakumu pleased you’re sorted for PIO! Next week will be here so fast!
@darkstar42 yes TSH ranges are very wide. My old naturopath OBGYN said 1.0-2.5 (on my REs lab report it has 0.5 to 5.0 as normal!). BUT! TSH is of course best interpreted when you have T3 and T4 too. And if you’re wanting more TSH info, then there’s a Fertility Friday podcast just on thyroid in case you’re bored. It also talks about ok TSH combined with consistently low body temps may indicate a sub-clinical thyroid issue. But don’t get too lost down that rabbit hole.
@kristokekerooni are you doing monitoring with a local OB? In my conversations with all the millions of clinics I asked a lot about their experience with local monitoring. Most said they just need lots and lots of pictures with measuring references, then they can handle it. I’m still thinking about buying our own US machine and making it DIY! Especially when I gearing up for multiple retrievals, if I need 5-6 US at 200$ per time, then I’ve paid the for the US after one cycle! My PCP will do my BW. But she doesn’t have an US suitable for TVUS.

@emmanemm This month I’m taking the Estradriol to build up my lining after the surgery. The way he made it sound is that it’s kind of raw where he cut away the septum. The progestrone pill I’ll be taking on 2/13 for a week is to fake my body out that i ovulated and i should get period 3/5 day after I stop all the pills. After I get That AF in late Feb we will be begin prepping for the FET.
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): Trying to find the right new clinic in time for next cycle, and trying the old fashioned way in between
How are things going?: Much better today than a week ago. Even though today was official beta day, and it was of course negative - as it is CD5 if my next cycle. So the whole thing was more than a bit academic. But I had good talks with clinics again, and am hoping to try and squeeze in a Skype consult this week so we can check if our current favorite clinic is the one we’ll go with.
Any questions?: Nope
GTKY: what was your favorite place that you’ve vacationed? Hmmmmm... good question... maybe skiing in the Jungfrau region in Switzerland. Staying in a small boutique hotel with views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau Mountains, watching the crazy climbers’ lights twinkling on the mountain as they sleep part way up the ascent, skiing straight out of the hotel, the amazing food, breathtaking views... oh those were the days... Or diving in the Great Barrier Reef... Or my first vacation with DH on the three week drive tour of Cali, Nevada and Arizona. Too many amazing places in the world to choose from!

@emmasemm , bless you for calming those fears. This is perfect, then! YAY!.
Also, anyone familiar with transportation in NY? We are staying in Albany, NY. We have tickets to see a Broadway show in Midtown? In Manhattan? How do we get there? Park outside of NY somewhere and take a commuter train? orrrr? Help.

@KristoKekerooni There are places to park in midtown Manhattan, but expect to pay upwards of $40 for a few hours. Depending on the time you are going into the city, I would suggest you drive somewhere that's easily accessible to subway (perhaps the Bronx or uptown Manhattan), and then take the train in. Not because of money, but because traffic in midtown is really terrible in the afternoons/evenings and you may be late if you don't leave super early. Most of the commuter trains go into Grand central from the Hudson River Line, which is like a 15/20 minute commute from where the Broadway shows are. If you are planning on arriving around 1/2 PM, you may escape the traffic (a LITTLE?) but much better than after 3:00 PM when people start to leave the city.
I can help if you provide more details about times/dates you're coming in. I live in Chelsea, so not too far from where you're going.
@elothair, I have so much sympathy re: the waiting. For me one of the most unexpected aspects of IF is how much waiting around is involved! Edinburgh recommendation: go get cupcakes from The Cuckoo's Bakery. They are totally decadent and totally delicious. We ate way more of them than was prudent on our honeymoon. Also, give haggis a shot if you haven't had it before. I was surprised to really like it! And try to see the inside of St. Giles if you can, it's really gorgeous. @jrm_14, oh no, I'm sorry you haven't been in the best place mentally/emotionally lately. And I can imagine that trying to get to your RE once a week would be super stressful! (They're about two hours away from you, right?) Still, crossing everything for you that this IUI works and you get good news on Friday! @ndz2018, crying over The Land Before Time is always completely understandable. It was a very traumatizing movie! @RVAMom315, I hope the headaches get better soon and that your AMH results are good! @shortstack930, exciting that it's almost time for your first monitoring ultrasound! I'm glad the injections haven't been too bad so far except for the itchy bumps. @50Wife, I will be thinking good thoughts for you tomorrow during the egg retrieval! I hate being put under too because of the control thing, but hopefully it really won't be too bad. And that's awesome that you're having a "textbook response" to the meds so far! FX for you! @lurvleybunchococonuts, I hope that by now you've gotten the call from the doctor and know what the next steps are. It's definitely a little easier to deal with all of this when you know what's coming next. @AvrilMai, I would love to see New Zealand someday! My in-laws just left for a vacation there but say they are absolutely not visiting anything hobbit-related, which made my husband very sad. FX that the ultrasound next week looks good and you're able to move forward. @AlohaKumu, I'm glad you have some people willing to help with the PIO situation and especially that you won't be alone for the FET next week! @Darkstar42, it's always hard to hear about people being KU, but I'm glad the semester is generally off to a good start! Iceland looks like such a beautiful place to visit, I would love to go someday. @KristoKekerooni, what a terrible U/S technician! I'm glad the news was much better than she led you to believe. FX everything lines up nicely with your flights! @emmasemm, I'm so sorry this last cycle wasn't it for you. But I hope you find a really great clinic to work with the next time around!
My updates are so boring these days, but here goes:
Diagnosis (if you've been): Dual factor. MFI and low AMH.
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): Waiting for IVF Consult appointment on 2/20. 3 weeks to go!
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): We got DH's genetic carrier screening results back and we're not a match on anything, so that's one less thing to worry about. Other than that I'm still just working on losing weight and eating healthier.
How are things going?: I've been doing pretty well, though the waiting is definitely hard. I do think the wait has been good for helping me do lots of research and really think through various scenarios (the prospect of potentially having to use donor eggs, for example) while my emotions aren't running quite as high as they were during the initial IF testing/results phase and will be again once we finally start IVF. Still, February 20th can't come soon enough!
Any questions?: Nope!
GTKY: what was your favorite place that you’ve vacationed? I loved London and Scotland, which we visited on our honeymoon, but I actually think Seattle may be first in my heart. There are so many neat museums and places to hike! My brother lives there and has been asking when we're next going to visit. I'm hoping we can plan a trip once we know more about our IVF timeline!
@jrm_14 I’m sorry you’re in a bad headspace. But I’m totally jealous of your trip to Scotland!!
@ndz2018 Land Before Time...I haven’t thought about that movie in forever!!
@RVAmom315 I hope your headaches go away. And an all-inclusive is on my bucket list!
@shortstack930 I’m so excited for you!! And Disney is the best!
@50Wife I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow! I can’t imagine how you’re physically feeling right now (just thinking of the way I feel the day before I O with one egg. I can’t imagine with a small man you as you have!)
@Avrilmai I hope everything is cleared up from the cyst. And oh, I want to go to New Zealand!
@AlohaKumu your FET is so soon! I’m glad you have some options on help with your PIO
@darkstar42 pregnancy announcements are so hard to hear. Sending you hugs
@KristoKekerooni wow! I really don’t get some of the US techs. They can be so un-tactful (and especially since yours was wrong!) and what Broadway show are you seeing?
@emmasemm I’m glad you’re in a better place than last week. And your description of Switzerland sound amazing!
@Augusta108 I’m glad the genetic screening cane back with good results. And I’m ready for it to be mid-February too!
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): starting to track again. Started temping today and will start opks on Saturday
How are things going?: slowly. I’m ready for it to be the middle of February!
Any questions?:
GTKY: what was your favorite place that you’ve vacationed? Oh man! I don’t know if I can pick one. Maybe Tokyo? I loved the Disney park there and we had so much fun touring the city and doing culture-y stuff!
@Augusta108 Looked up their website - those cupcakes look amazing!! Will definitely put that on the list! And yes - it’s amazing how much waiting is involved. I guess I better get used to it, ugh. I live in Vancouver so we go to Seattle often - it’s such a beautiful area!
@purplg8r I’ll be in Vienna Feb.17-23 and then London until the 28th with a day trip up to Edinburgh on I think the 26th. I haven’t ever been off North America so I am super exited to go but now that’s it getting close I’m realizing how many small details I have to consider (like power adapters!).
@emmasemm that's a very good point I hope the skype consult goes well!
@augusta108 Yay, at least that's one less thing to worry about!
@purplg8r & @augusta108 no call back yesterday a call will be made this morning if I have time on break, if not than a call will be made this afternoon. I hate being told "she'll call with next steps once lab results are in" when I called you yesterday and had you give me the lab results! Harumph.

Why would they have her on bcp after her period? I'm so confused... Here I thought her baseline was done and she was stimming! My Dr never used bcp foe my protocol so it is so foreign to me.

@rallykat14, my RE did this with me. I started bcp on day 1 of my period and stayed on it for 3 weeks as prep. She basically wanted to shut my ovaries down and start from scratch. Baseline was done right at the end of the 3 weeks because they want to make sure that your levels are all down and suppressed before starting the meds.
@rallykat14 I think, and don’t quote me on this, they put her on BCP to keep her levels at baseline till she is ready for stims. When we were waiting for our ICSI to get approved through insurance they were going to start me on BCP on CD 3 till it got approved for that reason. Why they are waiting till Feb, Idk? Maybe her schedule doesn’t work with stims till then?
@rallykat14 I had to be on BCP a few times throughout this process. Right after I started my period, they put me on the pills so they could control when I would stim prior to the ER. They said it makes the ovaries “quiet” so when you are ready to get them going, they do what you want them to do.

@KristoKekerooni I live outside of Albany. You can take the train from Rensselaer to Penn Station, or if you have a car you can drive to Poughkeepsie and take the train to Penn Station or Grand Central. I've taken the train from Poughkeepsie to Grand Central and then taken a taxi, walked, or the subway from there.
Heck yes, @50Wife!!! I hope the process went very smoothly and you are recovering well

AFM:
Diagnosis: Old AF, OH has low T and we had to freeze his swimmers
Status: WTO
What are you doing: We're doing one more cycle of at home insemination before hopefully beginning medicated IUI next cycle. We have exactly 11 vials of sperm left, so I'm debating between being agressive again this cycle with 3, or dialing it back to 2.
How is it going: To be honest, I'm losing hope. We're in the last few cycles here, and I'm starting to feel sad(der) since we've had so many cycles of BFNs and it's almost impossible to feel hopeful that we'll ever get a different result. Of course, I also am looking forward to being done with building hopes into the TWW, just to have them dashed when AF arrives. I also like the idea of no more tracking when I'm going to O and stressing over when to inseminate and all the other mind space that TTC/IF takes up. It's exhausting and there's something to be said for being free of it.
Today I went in to have my second saline sono since it's been over a year and my RE wants updated testing. Walking into their office made me unexpectedly well up. I was emotional until I finally drove out, even though the results were actually very good, and the procedure went easily and painlessly this time (last time I was shocked by pain when he injected the saline...this time I literally didn't feel it). He said that the fibroids I have are not an issue and were less noticeable than last time, which makes me wonder if the Arvigo massage I had over the summer was helpful. I am quite happy to finally have good news for once. He also didn't seem concerned when I told him how my HSG went. He said that even slow fluid leaking out of one tube is good and that he feels I'm clear. Fuck I hope he's right, because he told me I have a 20 mm follicle on the right side, which is the side that they were concerned about. BTW, it was super cool to get confirmation that I'll O in the next couple of days and from which side. I geeked out on that a bit.
He also said that I can just call on my first cycle day to come in and get started on IUI, without doing another consultation, which is awesome. I just have to convince OH that paying the 50% of the $1200-ish that insurance doesn't cover is worth it!! Any questions: Not at the moment.
GTKY: I think my favorite vacation so far was to Grand Canyon. We went one January, which I highly recommend. It was not crowded at all, and still so beautiful. There was even snow on the ground in some places. I also loved visiting Niagara Falls in the winter, especially the Canadian side. There's something to be said for traveling off season, especially when the snow makes things so stunningly gorgeous.

First monitoring went well! They saw three follicles between 15-16mm on the left ovary plus seven under 10mm and another three between 15-17mm on the right and six under 10mm. So 19 total!! They said they can almost guarantee the ER will be Monday!

Also, anyone familiar with transportation in NY? We are staying in Albany, NY. We have tickets to see a Broadway show in Midtown? In Manhattan? How do we get there? Park outside of NY somewhere and take a commuter train? orrrr? Help.

ER#2 ~Jan 2019
I can help if you provide more details about times/dates you're coming in. I live in Chelsea, so not too far from where you're going.
@lurvleybunchococonuts I hope you’ve heard back about the next step
Diagnosis (if you've been): AMA, ovulation dysfunction
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): wto
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?): starting to track again. Started temping today and will start opks on Saturday
How are things going?: slowly. I’m ready for it to be the middle of February!
Any questions?:
GTKY: what was your favorite place that you’ve vacationed? Oh man! I don’t know if I can pick one. Maybe Tokyo? I loved the Disney park there and we had so much fun touring the city and doing culture-y stuff!

Question for you all because I'm so confused. My donor started her period jan 10 and baseline is feb 2. They said baseline usually happens two weeks after starting bcp. Why would they have her on bcp after her period? I'm so confused... Here I thought her baseline was done and she was stimming! My Dr never used bcp foe my protocol so it is so foreign to me.

I don't think I've said it yet, but welcome @elothair and @lurvleybunchococonuts. It sucks that you find yourselves here, but this is an amazing bunch of women who I can't imagine being without.
@KristoKekerooni So glad you are finally getting started. FX so hard that the timing all works out perfectly.
@emmasemm I was MIA last week, so I just want to send you the biggest hug. I'm glad you're feeling better this week, friend. Take good care of yourself. I'm thinking of you.
@Avrilmai I hope your wait on the bench goes quickly. I'm sure it's so frustrating. Hugs to you.
