No, usually I have them two weeks after the cerclage comes out, but it's always possible. I have contracted much less during this pregnancy, so maybe she will bake a little longer and I can avoid any issues with jaundice.
So I started my hospital bag about a month ago... still haven't finished it. Have max a month left to this pregnancy and I want it in the car zipped up so bad but I keep realizing it's not finished, and I need another nursing shirt, and we had to find a sock to put rice in and we had to buy the rice, and what if we don't have enough snacks, etc. etc. I'll put a couple things in it and just get exhausted. It's like I'm incapable of finishing this damn thing. Anyone here having that experience?
@vflux33 I haven't even started mine so at least you're ahead of me. I've got less than 4 weeks til my scheduled cs but I'm paranoid I'm going to go into labor early. I should really get my bag packed and get my car seat installed, but that makes this all seem "real" and I'm kind of in denial right now that baby will be here so soon, I think.

@vflux33 I also haven't started packing mine. But I still have 8 weeks to go probably... Make a list of what you need packed and have YH finish it. Does he have his bag packed yet?
@mmom3 I need to do that! I had to buy a new one near the end of my bfing journey with DD (I accidentally plugged my computer power cord into the original one and it would no longer turn on...) so I still have one that is pretty new. But I'm thinking I'll leave one at work this time around.

@vflux33 I haven't started a hospital bag and don't plan on until 2 weeks to go, I plan to pack very light, baggy black sweatpants, nursing tank and slippers plus contacts and glasses. We live 15 minutes from the hospital and last time I used nothing I brought so I'm trying not to over think it!
@becausescience We made a list, and revised it like 40 times. We're packing our stuff together so our list is sort of a combo list. He thinks he will be able to come grab stuff we forget. I don't want that to happen a lot though because I know I'll do better if he's around the whole time.
This reminds me that I really need to sit down and actually figure out what I need in my hospital bag. With P we lived five minutes from the hospital so I brought the bare minimum essentials. Now we live 30 minutes away from the hospital, unless there’s traffic then it’s over an hour away. So I need to pack better so my husband doesn’t need to leave me.
@vflux33 What’s the rice for? I read up and saw you said you don't want your husband to have to go home. I'll be totally honest, I am needy AF and love to pass off stuff to my husband, but I gave birth at 5am after laboring since about 4pm the previous day. My mom came to the hospital later that morning after flying in, and he had to then take her home. I had just got done feeding the baby, so I had the nurses take her to the nursery, and my husband left to take my mom home and also shower himself. After all the craziness, I was finally alone, in a quiet room, and I was able to drift off for an hour or two. It was so damn peaceful. My adrenaline was just so high that I couldn't get in the right mind frame to sleep with everyone there, and I think my husband enjoyed being able to go home and have some quiet time standing in the shower.
And to offer any reassurance, the hospital loaded me up with freebies. I wore my hospital gown most of the time, and I left the hospital wearing what I wore to the hospital. No shame. I just procrastinated on finishing my bag, and DD1 decided to come 10 days early. I had the basics in there (tooth brush and other toiletries), and I had a robe in there which was helpful. So if you don't pack everything you need, you'll be okay!
@DDRRT1982 My cerclage is coming out February 13th. Have to go back to the OR to do it since it's the more complicated of the two kinds not looking forward to the possibility of another spinal headache...but we gotta do what we gotta do right?!
@missnc77 For me it's partially timing dependent. If I make it the full 38 weeks my mom will be here, so giving MH time off will not be a huge deal. But if I go earlier, we're all alone. My mom has a medical thing and can't fly in earlier. So no family here at all, no friends who are close enough to be around at that kind of time. Also we live 30 min away from the hospital in no traffic/an hour in traffic. My hospital reaallllly pushes the rooming in thing so I don't know about the nursery. And the twins factor might play in--I'm a FTM so we're going from zero to two and I completely don't know what I'm doing with just one so I'm not sure I want him to run off so early on! Especially if I'm really out of it. We'll see though. I'm open to the possibility that I will feel differently when the time comes, but as of now, knowing myself, I want him to be available and in the room as much as possible.
ETA Oh the rice! In the birth class I took the doula running it was super into this rice sock thing where you put rice in a sock and microwave it and use it as a back massager during labor. She basically talked about it like it was the best thing ever, so figured it couldn't hurt.
@vflux33 Totally get it. We don't have family here either. It was pure luck that I had scheduled to fly my mom in on that Friday anyway, thinking that 10 days before my due date we'd be fine. DH actually had to call work to see if someone could go pick her up and bring her to the hospital. This time I'm flying her in 12 days before my due date, and fingers crossed she gets here before because if not, we have no one to take care of DD1 while I'm in the hospital. I don't even want to think about that as a possibility.
@missnc77 Yeah, mine is getting here 4-5 days before my OB's cut off date. And we're waiting to hear from our MFM about whether we should set the cut off at 37 weeks instead because of growth issues, in which case she won't be here until a few days later (plus could go into labor before that).
If we had another kid at home I have no clue what we'd do about that--I hope the timing works out for you!

Oh girl, I am sorry. Mine don't come out easy bc I usually contract so much there is so much scar tissue built up around it. I hope yours comes out easily.

Bahhhh we had all stayed healthy through the first part of winter. Then both kids went down with coughs and minor fevers last week. Now DD is puking. I’m begging God not to let it spread. I can’t do the puking thing.
@vflux33 my doctor actually told me last time that the hospital I was delivering In tries to push rooming with baby very much, but I should tell them to take baby and get rest. It was the best advice ever. After labor, you really need all the rest you can get. They can still bring baby for feedings and all, you just let them know. But at least the time in between you can rest up a bit. Standard in the hospitals where I live is that no one can sleep over with you. So its probably a whole different scenario....

I only looked at the convertibles enough to determine that the mesa henry infant seat was better in terms of chemicals than any of the other infant seats or convertibles on the market. Which is a long way of saying, I have no idea. I focused so hard on the newborn stuff (and spending money on that stuff) that I ended up not getting a whole lot for later. It sounds like you may have looked into this more than me, which means I should read up on the maxicosi! Any good sources for that?
I think part of me is hoping that once it's time to switch to the bigger baby seat that there might be more on the market by then, since the no flame retardant/low chemical options are getting more popular. But if you've done research on the current market, I'm definitely all ears!
It's from 2016 – the best scoring models (other than Mesa Henry) are outdated by now. The Maxi-Cosi Pria and Britax Marathon merely scored w/ the lowest levels of FRs, so come "highly" recommended compared to others. I'm also hoping that they repeat/release the study and/or someone makes a FR-free convertible seat by the time our kids need them. If not, one might be able to contact Maxi-Cosi for example and try to confirm that they haven't changed their practices (or have improved them!) since the 2016 study?
just worrying that 35 lbs will come earlier than we think! so want to have a game-plan.

@orbmaker Interesting! I will check that out and look into the website. Surprised I didn't come across them before. In their homepage they have a "we want nontoxic carseat" petition too, which we should all sign (yeah, yeah, I know just another online petition, but to prove a consumer need I think they can sometimes be useful).
Keep me updated @vflux33 and @orbmaker with what you guys find. I will keep my eye out. I usually switch all my kids to a convertible around one year even though I have three now that haven't hit 35lbs yet. My daughter (4), who is definitely petite, is still within range to rear face. So we haven't moved her to forward yet. We will when the baby comes, but that's bc she will almost be five and close to the rearface limits with height. I was hoping to use her seat for the new baby at one year, but it looks like she'll be in a convertible for a bit longer due to size.

We got ours done in the snow too! @orbmaker@vflux33 I haven't been following the whole low chemical thing but as far as the weight limit goes, usually most kiddos outgrow the height limit before weight for the infant seat. I believe in my state the car seat recommendations are to switch to convertible at a year due to it being safer than an infant seat at that point in time (TW... basically did research on this because the boy I babysat was way too big for his and it said that there is risk that in an accident the child could be ejected at the top of the seat... this was over a year ago so I don't remember all the details... end TW) Just wanted to share that with you guys... but you should be good on your infant seats for at least 9 months, maybe longer!!!
So I know I mentioned my photographer completely flaking on me, well my SIL has offered to do my maternity shoot this week (after we recover from this stomach bug)! I’m so excited! She has done our pics a few times and each time they’ve been wonderful!
