21 Weeks 4 days. Babies are a couple of endives apparently.

    2. Any recent appointment updates

None yet. Next appointment is on Monday the 8th.

    3. How are you feeling? Rants? Raves?

I’ve had diarrhea on and off the past 3 days so that really sucks. Not sure if it’s pregnancy related or “this time of year germs” related. Other than that, I feel pretty good and The boys are kicking all the time.

    4. Did  you buy anything for the babies this week? Add anything to your registry?

I didn’t buy anything but added a bunch of clothing basics to my registry. I have ZERO baby clothes from when DS was an infant so I’m pretty much starting from scratch. I’ll probably make a trip to once upon a child after my baby shower to fill any gaps.

    5. GTKY: What Are you most looking forward to after pregnancy?

I’m excited for zoloft, not being huge, wearing regular clothes, and having the occassional adult beverage.

19 weeks. You can now add my genders- found out yesterday we are having a boy and a girl! :)

    2. Any recent appointment updates
Level 2 ultrasound yesterday looked good! Going back in 3 weeks to get better images of their hearts because they didn't want to fully cooperate. Also having an echo done in a month.

    3. How are you feeling? Rants? Raves?
Unfortunately got my first cold. Was hoping to avoid getting sick all pregnancy. Not sure if I should try to ride it out or take some meds  :s

    4. Did  you buy anything for the babies this week? Add anything to your registry?
Went to a secondhand store I like and bought a couple outfits, couldn't resist when we found out the other sex! Will now add more towels, cribs sheets etc for our girl on the registry.

    5. GTKY: What Are you most looking forward to after pregnancy?
Being a mom! And getting to cut back on work hours
  • 1. How far along are you? 20 weeks and 4 days!

    2. Any recent appointment updates? We had our anatomy scan yesterday.  I so love seeing them grow.  Little girl was tucked up into herself and we think she waved at us :)  Little boy was being a bit more shy.  It's kind of funny to think that they are similar to my SO and I.  I would be the more outgoing one, my SO is more reserved :)

    3. How are you feeling? Rants? Raves?
No rants or raves.  My only concern was the OB/GYN talking about the babies coming early.  It made me have a bit of a panic attack.  I thought, "we basically only have a handful of silly clothes at this point" but then I calmed down and realized we have plenty of time and the big stuff (cribs, diapers, car seats) can be purchased when we get closer.
    4. Did  you buy anything for the babies this week? Add anything to your registry?
I am hemming and hawing over a changing table.  Do we need two?  I have a changing table dresser top in little boy's room.  Do I need a changing table in the little girls room (right next door) too?
    5. GTKY: What Are you most looking forward to after pregnancy?
I just want to hold them, sing to them, snuggle with them, nibble on their cute little feet.  My SO says I have to share the babies, and I say I will.....but I'm not sure yet :) Ha ha ha.
  • @nhardler My girls shared a room (still do) and we just had one dresser with a changing pad on top.  Then I used the pack n play with the little changing station on it downstairs so I didn't have to carry them up the stairs every time they needed a diaper change, and eventually just started using the diaper caddy on the couch or floor.

  • @sandbar517 Sounds perfect to me!  Our living room is down the stairs and basically on the complete opposite side of the house to the bedrooms so that's a great solution!
  • 1. How far along are you?

22 weeks and counting. And yes, it really is going slowly, but that’s okay, since I’ve not really done anything yet.
    2. Any recent appointment updates

Had a realllly long anatomy scan at 19 weeks with a stressed out technician. My ultrasound at 21 weeks went so quickly and that technician was so calm. Calm is definitely the way to be.
    3. How are you feeling? Rants? Raves?
Feeling pretty normal actually. Still just tired and out of breath easily. And does anyone get annoying swelling on their calves where their socks are? Overall I just wish I didn’t have to go to work right now. I’m always wishing it was nap time.

    4. Did  you buy anything for the babies this week? Add anything to your registry?

At Christmas, my sister and SIL brought old hand me downs from my nieces and nephews. So awesome and yet, so overwhelming.

My hubby started a registry. He’s definitely project manager of our family. Love him! But it still seems so far away, and I can’t get into it yet. Plus we live in a 1 bedroom apt in NYC. We will be moving about four months after the babies come. So much to consider when space is such an issue. We are going to convert the living room into the nursery. But that means storing furniture and so much more. Haven’t had any motivation to start.

    5. GTKY: What Are you most looking forward to after pregnancy?

I cannot WAIT to have a beer or a glass of wine. Watch, it won’t even taste good at that point.
  • @lindsaymayphoto we might have to have a living room nursery for while too. We live in a 2 bedroom but we have a soon to be 4 year old. All his things are in the second bedroom so we might need to be a bit creative with where the babies things are going to go.

  • @lincbeesmom have you started arranging yet? Would love some inspiring words to help motivate. Lol

Not yet. We have a small ikea couch that we’ll probably have to stick in DSs room and we have a table that might need to go in there as well. I just bought some storage cubes for his toys so I could consolidate some things and that gave me some more room in the second bedroom. I think we can make it work but it’ll suck only having a recliner to sit in if we want to watch tv in the living room.

It’ll be easier once I get the baby shower over with and I can see how much baby stuff I ACTUALLY end up with.

  • @lincbeesmom my shower isn’t until March 11, so that makes me feel better you haven’t really done much either. When’s your shower?

Also, good point about having two seats for a tv. Noted.

Mines in 3 Weeks on the 27th. I have to drive five hours to where all our family is and my niece is due the same month as me so I agreed to have mine early.

  • @lincbeesmom that was super nice of you. Did you figure out what double stroller to get yet? I’m so clueless. FTM here.
  • Yeah, the double stroller has been a big struggle for us too!  Some of my twinnie moms say they like the side by side, but then I know I've seen moms struggle in aisles of grocery stores, or in crowded areas, trying to navigate around people with the side by side.

I’m definitely going for a tandem vs side by side. It’s just such a big investment, i don’t know when to make the plunge haha

pretty sure im skipping the double stroller frame and going straight for the contours options elite with the infant adapters for graco  car seats.

im just going to wait until after my baby shower (either my parents or dh’s Dad usually offer to make a big purchase) and after the completion discount on my registry to decide.

  • @nhardler I live in NYC and the only thing I notice is how hard it is for the side by side strollers to fit and maneuver through doors. So I’m pretty set on the tandem. But there really are so many options. I guess I will go to a store soon to check them out
  • Thanks @lincbeesmom!  I hadn't heard of the Contours Option Elite so I Googled it.  It looks really snazzy and is exactly what I would think I'd prefer vs a side by side!!  I had read twin blogs and "What to do when you're expecting two", and they had recommendations on specific strollers if you opted for tandem OR side by side.  When we went to Babies R Us and test drove the stroller they recommended, we didn't like the feel of it.  And it was crazy heavy.  So, we tried out some others and settled on the Chicco Cortina Together Double Stroller - Obsidian but we registered for Chicco car seats that'd clip right into it.

  • Has anyone else thought about sleeping arrangements in the beginning? I'm starting to put together my registry and it's like, "do I buy 2 cribs? Do they sleep in 1 crib together? Do I buy 2 bassinets? 2 Rock n Plays?". I'll be sure to ask my doctor his opinion on the twins' sleeping arrangements at my next appointment (wouldn't you think having them sleep together would be a SIDS risk?!), but I was wondering if anyone else has thought about this yet...

Side Note - My son loved the rock-n-play but then we had a tough time transitioning him to the crib because he was so used to being propped up and snuggled.  Any suggestions would be appreciated!
  • We are doing separate cribs from day one. I've heard of people doing all types of scenarios however so I would say it's personal preference.
  • When my girls were first born, they slept in the Arms Reach Co-sleeper for about four months or so before they got too big to sleep in it together.  It was pretty small, so they weren't really able to roll anywhere, even at the beginning.  Then we put them in the same crib (also in our room), but put them a little further apart so they wouldn't roll over on each other.  Once they started sleeping for longer stretches, (probably around 5 or 6 months) they went into their own cribs in their room.  Again, personal preference, but I felt better having them together and near me especially since we breastfed and it was just easier having them that close.  But, bottom line, we did buy two cribs that they still use as their toddler beds (they're almost 4).

  • @emearsheimer and @doubleblessings1124 I have been asking myself the same question about sleeping arrangements, and I'd agree that it seems like a personal preference.  I will ask our pediatrician too but some of my twins mom friends have said completely different things (1 said same crib, the other said she kept them in twin bassinets).

@lincbeesmom, late to the party, but The Options Elite is actually what we used for the twins their first 18 months and I loved it. It worked out really well for me. I could push it with one hand and pull the grocery cart with the other and had no problems. It also fits through doors and aisles easily.
My main complaint is how heavy it is. I think it's 40ish lbs which isn't an issue now, but was the first few weeks I started to do things after the c section.
Also keep in mind your trunk space or space behind the back row of an suv. We took ours along when we tested out new vehicles after the twins were born. We ended up not buying a smaller suv with 3rd row seats because it wouldn't fit with the 3rd seat up and we planned to have another child. We ended up getting a van which I also love.

I think we will use this stroller again now with one of the toddlers in the front and baby in the back and 2nd toddler in an umbrella stroller.
We were also gifted with a side by side jogging stroller this summer from a friend who didn't use hers anymore. It is nice to have them next to each other and not have such a long stroller, but can be a pain to perfectly center it in a door frame to get through.
  • Sleeping arrangements: I haven’t decided yet but I think I’ll start out with a two bassinet type deal then transfer to one crib until they get bigger/we move to a bigger apartment or house.

@suchaglencoco I’m glad you liked it! We have very little trunk space behind our third row but one of the seats in the third row lays flat so I’ve been using the side as storage so I’m hoping I can get away with putting the stroller back there. I’ll probably buy it soon so I can start planning ahead.
