Intro- 1st IVF (child mentioned)

Hi Everyone
I'm new here, and very happy I found this forum.  I'm looking forward to connecting with others through this process!  Even in the beginning stages, I can already tell that people don't understand what you're going through, if they haven't gone through it themselves.

A little about our story-  Me- 33, DH 39.  Together 12 years.  We live in NJ, and are extremely lucky and thankful that fertility is covered by insurance. 10 years ago, we were unsuccessful after several months of "trying" although back then, I can say we clearly had no idea about fertility and what actual trying entailed.  But my obgyn entertained the idea, and had some labs drawn, and ordered the SA.  I got a pretty basic answer of, I don't ovulate, and DH had a low count. Dr pretty much said we'd never conceive naturally, handed me a script for clomid and sent us on our way.  We were young, and naïve, so we didn't ask much more than that.  Clomid did nothing for my cycle, and at that point in our life, other fertility treatments weren't an option.  So we just put the thought out and let that be that. **TW--- 10 months later- we proved the dr wrong, and conceived our now 8 1/2 year old son, who as it turns out is nothing short of a miracle, since my RE now, agrees, conceiving naturally really isn't probable** End TW

5 years ago, I really went full gusto on trying, temping, and taking (and forcing DH to do the same) every imaginable vitamin and supplement, but it didn't make a difference, endless sticks, still no line.

4 years ago- I saw an RE, and did the beginning testing, but life got extremely hectic, we fell on some rough times, and I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer 2 years ago, and all things fertility got put on the back burner for a while-

Finally in a good place, and ready to move forward with our journey, saw the RE in September, and before we could move forward with testing, turned out I had 6 fibroids (one the size of my fist)- So had those removed last month (along with a bunch of adhesions) and here we are.  Initial testing shows I don't ovulate well (my LH was higher than my FSH on day 3, even though I have extremely regular cycles). And DH still has a very low count.  Dr recommended we skip all other treatments, as they most likely won't be successful, given 8 years of no luck, and jump right in with both feet to IVF with ICSI! Just waiting for AF so I can start BCP.  Once that happens I'll find out my protocol etc and really get this ball rolling.  We're figuring a March retrieval/transfer if all goes well between now and then.

Really looking forward to getting to know you ladies, hear your stories, and gather as much info as I can!

@mcgeeva Thank you.  I guess I was just hoping that if I let it go long enough, it would just happen. Jersey has it's good and bad but this is where I grew up, and all my family is here, so I stay.
