TTC After a Loss

TTC after miscarriage

Hello, I had a miscarriage in October. I still had all symptoms but when I went for an ultrasound there was no longer a heartbeat. It has been devastating for my husband and I. We are trying to conceive again but have not been successful. Each month that goes by seems to get tougher and tougher. I know 4 months hasn't been long since the miscarriage but I got pregnant within one cycle the first time and am worried something is wrong. It feels like a loss all over again everytime I get a negative test. Any advice on how to cope would be much appreciated.

Re: TTC after miscarriage

  • So sorry for your loss.  Most of us on this board can understand your feelings.  It is a difficult process to go through and it seems we are much more nervous and anxious after a loss.   Our bodies sometimes take a while to get back to normal after a loss and that could be a reason it takes longer to get pregnant.  Just know that you are not alone and the ladies on this board can be extremely helpful in this process.  I have been on this board since August 2016 with 3 losses and these ladies have helped me get through as they understand all the feelings.  They also have a lot of knowledge and can provide some insight

  • "It feels like a loss all over again everytime I get a negative test". Yes. Yes. Yes. I stopped testing early for this reason. I used to test at 8 DPO and everyday til AF started. Then it just got to be too hard. I'm really sorry for your loss. I hope your stay here is short. This board is full of support while you wait.

  • Welcome and I'm so sorry for your loss. I know it's really hard to not get impatient and put pressure on yourself, but just know that it can take a perfectly healthy couple up to 12 months to conceive. Unfortunately, that time resets after a loss and can take up to another 12 months. If you are AMA or have other known issues that you know/think might impact your fertility, then you can definitely see a specialist sooner. GL with your journey!

  • Sorry for your loss.  It is an experience that can only be understood by someone who has been there.  I'm in the same boat, so I don't have any words of wisdom, but as others have mentioned, it can take some time for your body to get back on track.  Good luck to you :)
  • sorry for your loss but being patient is key and I know it sucks.  It took us 6 months to get pg with our loss and now we are on 1 year.  Even perfectly healthy people can take awhile to get pg.  Welcome to the board.

  • Sorry for your loss, but welcome to our group. Like others have said, we all get the feelings you’re feeling, and it definitely sucks each month when it’s another BFN. Unfortunately, it takes time for a lot of people, so hang in there. We can all stay in this waiting game together for now.
