Early in our pregnancies, someone posted odds of not having a miscarriage by week, which many found reassuring.
Now that many of us are hitting viability stage, I thought I would post viability/survival rates of premies week by week. This was very comforting to me, as based on my recent choleostasis diagnosis I’ll be delivering no later than 38 weeks, but likely sooner, with significant risk of PROM.
I am a NICU RN in a large Center, so I care for the smallest of preemies. The weirdest thing was hitting the stage where I started seeing patients at the same gestational age as my baby...looking at what they would look like if they were on the outside. Weird stuff. Also seeing the challenges they experience, I pray every day I don’t have to experience it. Of course every baby is different. We have 24 weekers who go on to have no issues and have happy healthy lives, and 30 weekers who go home on oxygen, have medical issues and many challenges. I guess that’s the case with anything. Definitely reassuring as we get further along to know that the risks are less.

I keep coming back to this post for comfort. My mom was born at 30 weeks and a 1.5lbs with cerebral palsy complications and survived. We're almost there!! Hang in their babies and bodies!!
I love this chart and have read this thread several times. But i have to admit every time I scroll past this thread and see “loss mentioned” my heart sinks until I remember that it doesn’t actually mean an April baby. Thank goodness!
