Baby Names

Cannot find a girl name.

edited January 2018 in Baby Names
Team green. In love with our boy name: Leo Constantine, but cannot come up with a girl name. I have all these "rules" that are holding me back, and I can't let go of them. Must have a good meaning, must go with sibling names, can't have the same first initial as siblings. We also have a kind of funny LN. Sounds like Pop-ah-knee.

Siblings are Catherine (Kate) Victoria and Andrew (Andy) Richard. Eleanor has been suggested on here in the past, but that is my given name.

Names I love but "can't" use:

Anastasia (wanting the classical Greek pronunciation further complicates this)
Celeste
Claire
Claudia
Felicity (sounds funny with LN)
Penelope (favorite, also sounds funny with LN)

Names I love and "can" use, but don't think they fit:

Hazel
Iris
Juliet
Josephine (I hate every. single. possible. nickname.)
Miriam
Rosalie

Names that fit that I "can" use, but I'm not sold on:

Lydia
Margaret/Marguerite (would want Daisy as nickname - too much of a stretch?)
Rosalind (husband doesn't like)

I know I'm limiting myself with these arbitrary rules, but I can't get over them. Help?

Re: Cannot find a girl name.

  • What about Matilda? It has the regal and royal sound of your other names and doesn't match your other kids first initial.

  • Daisy IS a proper nn for Margaret. I love that she can have a solid name with a playful and cute nickname.
    Adding
    Josephine with no nn
    Genevieve
    Valentina
    Maureen
    Ingrid
    Francine

I always say that Daisy is a proper nickname for Margaret, but people think it's weird. My grandmother was Margaret, but hated it and used her middle name, Zoe (pronounced Zoh). I'm kind of obsessed with Valentina now - that wasn't really on my radar before, but I'm not sure if I can see myself actually using it. Matilda is cute, but not my style.

  • Of those you list, Margaret (nn Daisy) definitely works best. Mommabear1221 has three solid suggestions : Elizabeth, Madeline and Amelia. Also, how about:

    Emily
    Gwendolyn
    Diana
    Helena
    Juliet (it does fit)
    Louisa
    Susannah
    Philippa
    Rebecca
