Re: Appointments w/o 1/8

  • @acunamatada Bahahaha that gif is 100% how I feel. NT scan on Saturday so I get to see the little nugget again. Woohoo!
  • Loading the player...
  • YES finally! My first appointment is Wednesday and we should be seeing little one for the first time. I love and hate the first appointment because they can last sooo long.

  • NT scan on Friday morning! Legit cant wait to see our little babe!
  • @zg49 Ahhh so exciting for the first time! Enjoy it! :)
  • Haven’t seen the babies in a month and FINALLY get to see them on Thursday. Have an early anatomy scan at 17w later this month so incredibly happy to be seeing them every 2 weeks for a while. Can’t wait to make sure they are ok and see how they have grown!
  • I had an appointment this am, and I forget who was asking if I was going to get another us, well, we did not! I'm obviously disappointed BUT I know the heartbeat is what counts and we got to hear that with the doppler which was great! He's moving around as always and the NP had to chase him, haha!

They went through the usual questions. Blood pressure and urine are good and I got the slip for part two of the California screening program. Another blood vial to draw at 15 weeks, so I'll go sometime next week.

No US until the anatomy in 6 weeks if all goes well but I have another check up in 4. DH and I still have an elective ultrasound we already paid for at the other lab (they had a 2 for $99 "deal") so we may go in 3 weeks.

For those living in California, my doctor told me the State usually gives them a call of something is off with the genetic test. I'm still waiting on the results of the first blood test I drew through the State, but the doctor said he got no calls so he is just waiting for the "snail mail" to come in, lol! Since NIPT was good he is not expecting any surprises but he'll let me know.
  • Also @bradybunchmom89 and @devilcat139 I asked the doctor if he had delivered any Christmas babies and he said no but he was all excited because he delivered twins vaginally on New year's day! Holy crap!
  • @kissableviv My 2nd born was born on NYE...the one day my Dr was out of office(Her husband takes her on a cruise once a year because that's the only way he can get her to not go into work on her day off to deliver babies!). :)
  • I have to get my blood redrawn for the NIPT tonight and I was supposed to have my NT u/s tomorrow morning but they pushed it back to Thursday morning.
  • Last RE visit is Wednesday, then I get to schedule my first OB appointment instead of weekly (or more) visits
  • First OB appointment this Friday...finally!!  :)
  • Genetic counselor appt on wednesday morning and...SURPRISE ULTRASOUND! its at 8:45, and will be the first time I see babe at almost 12 weeks. For some reason they are gonna do an ultrasound and the Harmony test, which I think is odd because like, the sequential screening would do the same stuff right? Blood draw and ultrasound? I'm gonna google it and I'll know in two days but anyone know the advantages to what one does versus the other? Also, is harmony one that will tell me the sex no matter what, or is it an extra order and would cost me extra? Just curious!
  • @SmashJam I have no idea about cost because it looks like the whole NIPT portion was covered for us but we did have to tell the doctor about the gender. Mine was thorough QNatal.

I had an ultrasound at the doctor's and my blood drawn for the NIPT at 10 weeks. Then the NT at 13 weeks, so another US basically, and another vial of blood. I'm going next week at 15w for the second trimester part of the screening program. So confusing!

I think my 10w US was basically going to be the first US, except I elected to have one at 6 weeks (which I paid so much for because it was at the doctor's office!!!). It just happened that the NT was 2 weeks later so I was spoiled seeing the baby again!
  • 2nd OB appt tomorrow morning after I drop the kids off at school. Super pumped to hear the heartbeat. They’ll also do all the blood work screens so I’ll find out probably in the next week or so if everything is ok and it will also confirm (or deny) my OB’s guess of a boy at our first appt.
  • NT tomorrow! Can’t wait to see nugget again. Today I had my 12 week OB and it was great timing because our cell free results had just come in so dr got to tell us it’s a girl and all the tests were negative. Fun couple of days
  • Finally! Appointment on Friday where I’ll get to hear the heartbeat again! It will be almost 8 weeks since my first ultrasound. I can’t wait! I just want to know my nugget is okay  <3
  • Had my 2nd OB appointment this morning, right at 14 weeks. Listened to the heartbeat, but It sounds the same as on my at-home Doppler! I get blood drawn in 2 weeks for AFP Tetra, and will only do the cell-free DNA test if something is off on the AFP. I don't think I get another ultrasound until the anatomy scan. Also getting thyroid re-checked in two weeks because it had been slightly low on my initial blood screen. I am that annoying patient who comes in with a list of unending questions, sorry not sorry  :#:D
  • I had an appt this morning with my MFM.  Had a quick u/s to check the HB so that was nice!  We talked about starting baby aspirin to try and prevent pre-e if we can.  So I'll be starting that and I have to do a baseline 24-hour urine catch.  I hate those, such a PITA.  My NT scan is Friday and I have my 1-hour glucose test on Monday.  My Panorama results should come back this week as well.  Busy week!

  • My first visit with my OB since "graduating" from my RE is this afternoon! I'm excited and nervous. I've got a full page, single-spaced bullet-pointed list of things I want to discuss with my OB. At the top of the list is: "I'm probably going to be high maintenance." #sorrynotsorry
  • Had an appointment yesterday at 15w1d.  Nothing super groundbreaking- haven't gained any weight yet (yay!), all blood tests came back normal, early GD test (b/c of AMA and big babies) came back fine.  HB was high 150s/low 160s and it was hard to get a good read because the baby was allll over the place in there.  She asked if I was feeling him/her yet, and I said I thought I was but wasn't sure and she said "It's your third- that's definitely baby!" so that's kind of cool.  Next appt is at 19w2d in February!

  • @WorkinWeezel yay for passing the GD test!  I have mine on Monday.  I've had GD 4 times before (with all of my babies) so I'm pretty sure I'll have it again.  But I'm just hoping it will hold off until closer to 24-28 weeks this time.  In my second and third pregnancies, I failed the glucose test at 14 and 12 weeks, respectively.  Awful.

  • samjjorgensen I have my appointment Friday too! Maybe see you there haha!
  • I had my 2nd appointment today with a surprise u/s. Good news is that baby is doing great and right on target 12wks today. Bad news is mama is not doing great and has lost 20lb in 4 wks. My Dr is threatening hospitalization if that doesn't slow soon. The only thing keep me out right now is I've been able to keep down sips of water through out the day. So, I'm only moderately dehydrated. They are adding zofran now to my daily routine of nausea medicines. Hopefully that will help it.
  • @Sarafuss I"m so sorry!!! I've never had it, but because my kids were big they want to be sure!

  • Update on appointment** Had our first appointment today with OB and got our due date moved to July 24 instead. Baby was strong and measuring 12w1d :)

  • Had ultrasound and meeting with a genetic counselor today and I honestly thought it was a waste of time. I mean, the ultrasound was amazeballs, baby was right on track and flipping like CRAZY and it was my first so it was nice to see it looking good. But I went to the genetic counselor after and she was like, what are your concerns? And I was like, literally nothing, in my non crazy brain. Like, I know that this so unlikely to happen again, and not only that, beyond a fetal echo there is absolutely nothing you can do for me with any amount of blood tests. And she was like, "yeah, thats right, we just like to offer because women have been through this often don't want the shock of a different, unrelated complication so we offer other tests." Great sentiment, but I talked to my midwife before the referral and literally told her that the other tests wouldn't do anything for me so just schedule the sequential. Lo and behold, we are doing the sequential, and the only day they can get me in is Monday the 22nd when I am 13+3 so I have to go that day or I won't be able to test! Mondays are pretty hard for DH to take off so its not a convenient day. Like, why didn't we just listen to me and schedule the test in the first place? I guess I get an extra ultrasound but its still annoying and only like, 2 weeks from now.
  • @SmashJam my practice/hospital makes you meet with the genetic counselor if you want to do the NT scan.  Which is annoying because I've met with her in three different pregnancies now and she's not telling me anything new.  But at the same time, my genetic counselor is the sweetest, least judgmental person ever and I always walk out of there feeling good about whatever the decision I've made is.  I'm sorry you're having a hard time with this group of doctors/midwives.  Do you have other options for care?  I hope after this the rest of your pregnancy is smooth sailing with getting appointments scheduled and they get their act together!

Also, I agree that I'm not concerned about the same diagnosis so I totally get that.

  • Ah @Sarafuss maybe that is this policy. I have never given birth at a hospital like this, the other hospital didn't have MFM or a genetic counselor and in fact I had to go to THIS hospital to get all testing done because they didn't do it. All in all they seem super nice care wise, but I think that I was expecting one thing and got another. When you tell me about your hospitals policy it makes a little more sense, they just made it sound like it was my diagnosis that made them refer me, not that everyone got referred, but maybe that isn't the case!
  • Had an appointment this morning the MW had the hardest time finding the hb because baby was hidden in my side.
But I got to schedule my anatomy scan! Feb 8th! Things are moving quickly now!
  • I scheduled my anatomy scan too! I think mine is the 6th or the 8th. I’d have to look at the appointment card. I can’t remember anything anymore lol. Yay for all of us scheduling exciting appointments @acunamatada
