Re: Weekend Ticker Change (January 6/7)

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby? 32 weeks today, LO is a head of lettuce!

    2) How are you feeling?
I wish the insomnia would end, and heartburn has reared its ugly head again  :s

    3) Any appointments this week?
    Nope!

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
MH calls me from work saying someone on his side told him we didn't have enough onesies, hats or socks on the registry. I told him we have two registries, ask so and so to go look on the other one where there will be more "essentials" (eyeroll). MH calls back, "Well I think you need to add more onesies and hats, you know stuff the baby will actually need. There's also alot of medicine stuff on the other registry too. And you have so much expensive stuff on there, nobody's going to buy that!"

I almost blew my eyeballs out trying to keep composure. MH sat next to me for 2 weeks while I registered, was asked more than once if he wanted to help, then has the audacity to critique  :/:/  MH didn't seem to care until his ppl had a look. If no one said anything, he'd been fine. And I'm sure he threw me under the bus by saying I compiled the list. Buy the baby whatever y'all want, I'm not adding anything else! And if MY was listening at all, he'd know said "expensive stuff" was for the completion coupon WE get, not for everyone else. Y'all, my hormones got me like

    5) What is your favorite baby gift you've received so far? If you haven't gotten anything yet, what do you want most on your registry?
My SIL, who is probably a part of the above foolery, got LO the cutest wooden rocking airplane. Even tho I want to throw things in their direction, I still love that gift so much!

  • @cford08 you should try the papaya enzymes. I got mine at Trader Joe’s but they probably have them at any pharmacy. They have helped so much with the heartburn.
  • I'm all for what works @mdfarmchick Thanks girl!

  • @cford08 heartburn is also back for me. Just like in the beginning, it comes when I'm hungry and when I've eaten too much for the little space my stomach has these days. ugh.

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
29 weeks tomorrow - acorn squash

    2) How are you feeling?
Pretty good. The lower back pain is real. Rolling over in bed requires grunting that makes my husband laugh at me! LOL

    3) Any appointments this week?
    Nope

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
So I had a midwife appt this week and found out that mommas with higher BMIs (that's me) get a growth scan at 30 weeks to make sure LO is on track. Finally something good comes from being fat - BONUS SONOGRAM!!

    5) What is your favorite baby gift you've received so far? If you haven't gotten anything yet, what do you want most on your registry?
This is our second so we have a lot of stuff already, but I'm really looking forward to all the cute boy clothes!! We are having a shower kinda late (Feb 17) so we'll see what comes of That!

@cford08 your rant is legit...what's wrong with people?!
  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
32 weeks! Baby is as big as a squash.

    2) How are you feeling?
Pretty par for the course, I guess. Insomnia is the worst. My heartburn seems to be coming in waves, and after a brief break it seems like my hips are back to feeling like they're going to snap in half.  :# But mentally, feeling pretty positive and excited for babe to get here.

    3) Any appointments this week?
I had my 32 week check up on Friday! Heartbeat was good and she's measuring right where she should be.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
I scheduled my repeat cs!!!! Monday February 26.  <3 It seems so so close (only 7 weeks and so much to do!!) but so far at the same time.

    5) What is your favorite baby gift you've received so far? If you haven't gotten anything yet, what do you want most on your registry?
We kept mostly everything from DS so our registry is mostly just odds and ends - bottle nipples, pacifiers, some swaddle blankets. But my parents are getting me a bassinet to keep in the living room! I'm super excited, I think it'll be helpful while I recover from my csection and takes up a ton less space than a pack n play. They're also making me a ton of freezer meals while I'm in the hospital, which was my favorite gift after I had DS.  :) My in laws got me an instant pot for Christmas so I'd have time to try it out for awhile before this little one comes, and I think that will be super convenient too.

@ashleyf911 you have a date! So exciting :) How many days worth of meals did you have last time around?

@amylonghorn girl they're insane and MH was temporarily crazy too. When he got home, we straightened that out real quick  ;)

Edited because autocorrect can suck it

  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
29 weeks today, babies should be the size of pineapples, but since they are measuring small I think that's a bit off.
    2) How are you feeling?
Good for the most part. Still have the carpal tunnel issues, but that's not going to go away until after the twins are born. There's also lot of swelling in my feet unless I'm wearing my compression socks, which I don't get to do very often since I can't reach my feet, lol.
    3) Any appointments this week?
2 actually, one with a MFM on Thursday and the 3 hour glucose test on Wednesday.
    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
Still trying to get the house cleaned up for the twins' arrival. Thankfully my MIL is going to come down in February to help us get everything set up.
    5) What is your favorite baby gift you've received so far? If you haven't gotten anything yet, what do you want most on your registry?
It really comes down to the car seats that we got from my aunts and grandma or the cribs my parents are gifting us for the twins because both are going to be such a huge help.

@cford08 I can't believe they would say that. I've actually been told not to put things like clothes on the registry because people will buy them anyway. If your husband wanted to have a say he should have been involved from the beginning. Mine went with me to do one registry (we did a few to get the free stuff lol) and has looked at the other 2 we are giving out to make sure there wasn't anything he wanted to add.

    30 weeks - zucchini?

    2) How are you feeling?
Pretty good! I'm starting to freak out a little about how much (or I should say how not enough) time is left before baby makes his or her appearance! It is sneaking up on me so fast!

    3) Any appointments this week?
    30 week appointment Friday morning

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
MH and I have a long list of things we want to accomplish before the baby comes, and it just seems like we keep adding to it and not taking anything off. I guess that's what we get for buying a house we wanted to update a little right when I got pregnant. It'll all get done eventually.... right?

    5) What is your favorite baby gift you've received so far? If you haven't gotten anything yet, what do you want most on your registry?
We bought most of the big ticket items ourselves (yay Black Friday) because we didn't want our families buying those big things for us, so a lot of the stuff we've received has been smaller stuff, which is equally as important! My sister gave us their crib and co-sleeper, which was super nice of her. I also received the mobile and wall art in the spoiler box at my shower. Just so freaking cute, and I can't wait to get the nursery put together!

@cford08 I'm glad you got your husband straightened out on the registry situation!

@amylonghorn the rolling over in bed struggle is real!!

@ashleyf911 that's so exciting you have a birthday set already!!

@amanning2011 good luck on the 3 hour test!
  • 1) How far along are you? How big is baby?
29 weeks today! Acorn squash sized baby. :D

    2) How are you feeling?
I know I've said this a thousand times, but if I could get over the bronchitis, I would feel pretty good. I am anxious that I haven't been exercising _at all_, but when I try to it triggers a coughing fit. and the muscles in my rib cage are sore. Ugh.

    3) Any appointments this week?
    Nope not til next week.

    4) Rants/Raves/Questions?
@cford08 I'm glad he got straightened out. My DH didn't do sh*t for the registry. I asked him to look into baby monitors and he didn't even do that. If he complained about my choices later I'd have been soooo mad. ;)

My rave is for my favorite grocery store. They are the only place in our area that has expecting mother parking. and they have curb side pick up. So I do my shopping and tell the cashier I want it, then I just pull up and someone else loads everything into my car. When my hip/PGP was really bad, I even had someone put the heavy things in my cart for me a few times! I hate asking for help, so this has been a healthy lesson for me. Take the help you can get! :D

    5) What is your favorite baby gift you've received so far? If you haven't gotten anything yet, what do you want most on your registry?
People have been very generous so it's hard to pick one thing. But the gift that made our shower erupt in "aaawwww" was a basket filled with two teddy bears, a hoody with bear ears on the hood, and this peanut baby sack thing (I have no idea what it's called lol). and an amazon gift card, which was overkill. Picture in spoiler.

  • @amylonghorn I'm in the same boat with trying to turn over, lol! I was using a back/bump support pillow, but gave up because it made getting out of bed or rolling over impossible  :D

  • @fatstagnation that basket is adorable <3 The little sweater looks so cozy!

@amanning2011 pro tip for your 3 hour: if your lab allows it, don't sit the entire time between your lab draws. I did that and had glucoses range from 70s to 90s and passed. Good luck!

@stlbuckeye132 your nursery color scheme is super cute. I can't handle that mobile, that little elephant made me so happy  :D

  • I've got a Monday ticker change, but lurking here...
@amylonghorn is that why they take the sonogram? I have a higher bmi too, and at last appointment dr said we'll do a sono next time.
i just figured it was routine...
    I won't object to seeing baby  :)
  • Hey @paigew123 well, that is what the midwife told me! With DD in 2015, I had a high BMI but didn't see her after the 20 week AS sonogram. Since then my OB's office was acquired by another practice and they now do the 30 week growth scan for moms with higher BMIs to make sure everything is on track. Not sure that every office does it, but that's just what they told me.
  • @cford08 thanks! I'm sort of obsessed with it. I wasn't planning on having a theme for the nursery, just a color scheme, but it's definitely turning out to have an elephant theme. Apparently elephants are the designated gender-neutral animal because they are EVERYWHERE when looking for neutral things. I don't hate it though. I'm discovering a love for elephants that I never even knew I had!
  • Lurking...my OB does a growth scan in the third trimester for everyone.  It's to catch any abnormalities with fluid and growth.
  • @DDRRT1982 that makes sense.
My doc made it seem routine, and I'm pretty sure I had one last time too, although my bmi was high then too.
My doc is concerned about my high bmi. He keeps mentioning that I shouldn't really be gaining much weight and all that stuff. So it was interesting that @amylonghorn mentioned it was bmi related.

  • @cford08 I wonder if they would consider walking around between blood draws altering the test results. I'd hate to have to go through it again :/

@amanning2011 I wondered that too. Since I was going back and forth between work and the lab draws (which is separated by a sky bridge) my OB was cool with it. I guess since I walk ALOT at work she wanted an accurate picture of what I did during the day. Make sure with your OB though.

@ashleyf911 I sat for my one hour, but my OB didn't make me. I just happened to be off that day. I know it would have been the difference between passing and failing since I failed by one point  :/
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • @cford08 Honestly I think I would have passed mine too if I could have walked. I failed 2 of my draws during the 3 hour, but each only by 2 or 3 points. I've been testing for 3 weeks now and haven't really changed how I eat, and haven't had an abnormal reading. :unamused:
    BabyFruit Ticker

  • Probably because that's not an accurate picture of what we do in a day @ashleyf911. Even if someone has a "desk job", I'd be willing to bet they get up at least once in an hour. Our bodies are used to processing that glucose! Dang OBs lol
