It's a New Year and a new look at my health. For fertility primarily, but also generally getting an idea of how this body works. I have heterozygous
A1289C. I don't know how "seriously" to take this.
What resources or treatments have you found that were helpful?
Thanks in advance. Happy 2018, all!

Re: MTHFR Mutation question
My GP said to not super worry, but there are some easy steps to take. For TTC, make sure your prenatal has methylated folate, not folic acid. For life purposes, try to avoid folic acid in general as it builds up in the system and can cause problems later on. The big place I’ve found it’s hiding is in enriched flour.
Hope that helps!

I'm going to be honest and say I have no idea where folic acid lurks... I currently do not eat gluten because of my Hashimoto's and I am trying to eat low net carbs because I think I have insulin resistance or just non-specific metabolic issues.
I will have to see what folic acid and folates are in.... Thank you!
@Worldtravler0522 - My primary doctor hasn't put much importance on it, mostly because there isn't enough research behind it. My naturopath, who I no longer see regularly, was *all* about theory. My primary is willing to try anything "that might be helpful that is not harmful" and even things that aren't proven helpful.
In her words, there's "no slam dunk diagnosis" with me. I will ask about Folgard and thank you!

I will ask my GP in our next email exchange. I *bombarded* her with supplement questions last night and sent a spreadsheet (well, a .jpg of one - they don't allow any other attachments!). I might be her least favorite patient...
