January FET

Re: January FET

  • YEY, January is here!

@prudence9-2 I am sorry your Dr is going on leave! But I hope this embie is going to be your take home baby finally!

AFM, FET is in 13 days and I am feeling optimistic this time around. This time we are not doing Lupron ( and I am so happy about it). Lining check is this Friday! I hope my ovaries are behaving without Lupron because if I ovulate on my own the cycle will get cancelled. I have PCOS so it would be very ironic if I actually ovulate on my own on the cycle when I don't want that to happen! Also PIO shortage is annoying, I had to order compound progesterone from a different pharmacy and I am nervous that they will screw up my order.

  • @DecemberDoll27 I am not doing Lupron either and have my appointment to check my lining on Thursday. I also have pcos and just today was thinking how ironic it would be if I ovulated on my own.

@tnh0413 I hope everything is going well and still on track for the 12th!

Happy New Year everyone, its finally January!

  • Hi All, Happy New Year!

An update from me. Like @PNW12RN, my period has been late this month. I'm still waiting for AF, currently on CD 33, and no signs of starting. That means we're not going to fit an FET in before vacation plans we had later this month, so I'm out for January, and am looking at February instead.

I'm feeling a little frustrated; we booked this vacation months and months ago - we talked about it while I was stimming! - and at the time I'd thought: "No way will I still be undergoing fertility treatments". But throw in a few unexpected delays and a Christmas clinic closure, and here I am... I'm trying to look on the bright side, but it sucks. This whole thing - the scheduling taking over your life and always having to wait, wait, wait and then put your life on hold... it sucks. Plus, before treatments, I was consistently at 28-32 day cycles, but these past few months especially, I've been all over the map... Ugh.

Anyway, best of luck to you all, and Happy 2018!
  • @funkykey oh no sorry to hear that! Just when we think we have everything figured out, AF wants to take a vacation of her own! Bright side, a vacation to clear minds before a FET!

I’m feeling optimistic about 2018! Transfer is 9 days away and I’m ready! I needed to do something to reset myself and body after the holidays, so I started the whole 30 yesterday. I figured since I had to cut out booze anyway starting the 12th, that’s half the battle LOL.

  • @DecemberDoll27 & @bdaisy2761 you’re lucky to not be on Lupron! I’m currently having one of the Lupron headaches. I hate Lupron so much! Baseline is on Friday!

@funkykey sorry about the delay! Try to enjoy the vacation. On the bright side, you’d be able to drink on your vacation ;)

@tnh0413 I hope January brings both of us better luck than October!!!

AFM... I heard from my nurse yesterday that the results of the first ERA biopsy were “receptive with some instructions” I wasn’t told what those instructions were. And not sure if they will even test the second biopsy from two days later. But I hope if they do they’ll tell the lab today as it takes two weeks to test and my lining is two weeks from tomorrow!

  • @prudence9-2 I am sorry you have to take Lupron, it made me feel miserable my previous FET cycle! Headaches, no energy, non existent sex dive ( poor DH thought I stopped loving him, my sex drive went from "let's do it anytime anywhere" to "do not touch me" ) Also I wonder what those instructions are from your ERA. Also thanks for pharmacy advice, I tried 2-3 different pharmacies but at the end went with local one that my clinic recommended. 30 day supply of progesterone is arriving this Friday.
@tnh0413 good luck with the whole 30! Sounds like fun! And I hear you on feeling optimistic for a new year and new start.

AFM, I am just waiting for my FET... And working like crazy. Also, I don't have any 5 day blasts left so we are transferring a 6 day hatching blast this time. Any of you guys heard about any success stories with 6 day embies? Is anybody in the same boat with me transferring a 6 day blast?

  • Hi All,

If all goes according to plan, my FET is scheduled for January 18th.  :)

A little about me... I did IVF about 18 months ago. I got OHSS so we did not do a fresh transfer. After genetic testing I only had 2 embryos come back normal -- a day 6 and a day 7. We will be doing the FET with our day 6 embryo. We don't know the sex.

The reason why it has taken so long for us to do the FET is because we moved overseas! I met my husband overseas just over 6 years ago and this is our third country to live in together. Since my husband's job assignment is long-term we decided that I should go ahead and come home and do the FET.

Due to my PCOS, I don't have regular periods so my cycle was kickstarted by a shot of progesterone (took about a week for me to start after that). I had my SIS this Tuesday and the doctor said my lining looks great. I should be good to start PIO on the 13th. I go in next week on Tuesday for my last check up before the FET on the 18th.

I'm a little nervous because I'm having some spotting tonight. :#  I've never gotten this far in the process before so I'm not sure if that's normal. I guess I'll call tomorrow and find out. I feel a little helpless because I'm out of town until next week so basically I feel like I have to hold my breath that the transfer is still on until my appointment on Tuesday.

I'm so excited to be on this journey and to be able to have this group to support one another. Wishing you all successful transfers!

@prudence9-2 we did not PGS test and I am kicking myself for not doing that. My Dx is tubal infertility and I just turned 30 so my RE did not think it was necessary. TW* And here I am with CP after my fresh transfer and BFN after FET #1. *end TW My RE is still super optimistic we will get a take home baby with our two remaining embies  and I wish I could share his enthusiasm. But I actually feel better about this coming transfer than I did about my previous FET( I just knew it would not work somehow, they showed me the pic of the embie and I felt nothing).

Hi, @DecemberDoll27! I was just reading back through and saw you and @prudence9-2 are transferring day 6 blasts. Same here. My RE didn't seem concerned about it. My day 7 blast he seemed like that was less than ideal though. But I just have what I have and I'm going to hope for the best!

We moved to Kazakhstan. All medical major treatments have to be done outside of the country. My husband fortunately spent Christmas with me and then just left yesterday for a business trip to the same city that my clinic is in so we will be together for all of January, just long enough to do the transfer and get the results of the beta. After January it will be long distance while I continue on this journey (either pregnant or giving my day 7 blast a try).

For those that have done a previous FET, how is the PIO? Just as bad as everyone makes it out to be?

I ran through the past messages and made a little chart of everyone's FET dates so we can all cheer each other on. Hope you don't mind? Please let me know if I got anything wrong.

@tnh0413 I am glad I am not the only crazy lady who does not get attached to embryo pictures. With my fresh transfer I knew it would work and it did, it just did not last. So I guess mother's intuition is a real thing after all. I hope we all have a great month! No BFN's, CP's or MC's in 2018!

  • @DecemberDoll27 Yes, all of the moving is exciting and scary at the same time. We found out we were moving after we had decided to do IVF and the timing was really bad. The company really advised us against it due to where we live and because I'll have to be away from KZ for so long (there's a minimum number of days the spouse has to be in country). We just decided that our personal lives come first so now we are ready to do it.

I feel really nervous about the timing of it all. The longer it all takes to work the longer I have to be away from my husband. Soon I'm going to have to think of a good reason to tell all of my friends in KZ why I haven't come back yet (I'm not telling most of them about my IVF journey)! The holidays were a good excuse, and now my husband's business trip. It's just all so complicated. I'm trying not to get too stressed out because that's bad for the whole process. *Deep breaths* It all just weighs on me. It's hard when it's something you want and have absolutely no control over, which I know you can all relate to.

Wishing us all the best of luck! I do feel really optimistic about it all. I just overthink everything too!

Waiting on my updated schedule but my RE said everything looked great and we can move right into the transfer. Woohoo! Guessing it will be very end of January, maybe first week of Feb? Either way I am excited and can’t wait to FINALLY get going!

@DecemberDoll27 I asked whether you had PGS because you were saying how you only transfer one. Usually with PGS, the advise is to transfer 1. But with non PGS, I think it depends on your age.

Not sure if you saw my history. But I had 4 PGS normal embryos. ***tw**** first FET ended with the embryo stop growing at 6w 1d. Second FET ended with a CP and third with a BFN. ***end tw**** so as you can see, PGS doesn’t guarantee success. I’m down to my last embryo... :(

@Knottie17863111 thanks for making the list!

So can I ask everyone’s plan for transfer? 1 or 2? Since DH couldn’t afford PGS on ours, we are going to take our chances and transfer 2 non tested embryos.

  • No problem @prudence9-2

@Mando15 Glad you're back on track. That's awesome.

We are doing 1 because we only have 2 and my RE thinks twins would be too high risk.

  • @Mando15 Congrats on the transfer date! So exciting! We are transfering 1 PGS untested embie.

@prudence9-2 My RE has no issues with transferring 2, my DH is not on board though ( he is overprotective and thinks I am too small for two- I am 5'2" 120 lb). And I don't really mind doing one at a time.

AFM, lining check this morning went well, we are 8.2 mm with 10 days before transfer. ( I know it is not super thick but it is better than my last cycle at 7.6 mm) They did BW and will only call me if something is wrong. Ovaries are nice and quite. So we are all set to transfer on the 15th so far! So relieved!

@Knottie17863111 Thank you for the list of all the upcoming transfers! Its great to have.

@Mando15 I am happy to hear you are on track for January, that is great. We are doing 1 PGS untested Embryo, I was hoping to do two, but my Dr feels strongly about doing one and my DH wants to take her advice. We are just hoping for the best!

AFM I had my final lining check and blood work yesterday. I made my DH take me in the snowstorm to get there, I was worried about the transfer date getting pushed back and didn't want to miss the appointment. My lining is 9mm and all came back well with the blood work so we are ready for the 12th. I start my PIO on Sunday morning and I am not looking forward to it, I am hoping its not as bad as they say.
  • @bdaisy2761 don't worry about PIO, first two or three are bad ( first one is the worst) but then you get used to it and barely feel it. Also I used a heating pad after every shot or just a bottle of warm water to massage the area after)) And also it is nice when you warm the syringe in your hands before the shot so the medicine thins out a little bit.

  • @DecemberDoll27 @Knottie17863111 @bdaisy2761 My RE has suggested we transfer one to start but she is allowing me to do two because I do have a bigger frame and would probably be okay carrying two. Also, we are fully out of pocket for everything. So each transfer costs us about $6k-$7k with the meds and we really can't afford to be doing one at a time until it works. FX we get at least one of these first two embabies to stick!
Very excited for all of us to get started.

@DecemberDoll27 Thank you for the tips! That makes me feel better

@Mando15 We are paying out of pocket for everything as well and that's what is worrying me. I don't think we could do it multiple times, financially. Were just sending lots of positive thoughts out!

  • @bdaisy2761 paying out of pocket for everything really sucks. It blows my mind that there isn't more coverage for infertility. Buuuuuuut, once we get our take home babies it will all be worth it.

  • My RE recommended only 1 at a time for me just based on my age. She said if I were 33 or older she typically does 2.

@bdaisy2761 I’m starting my PIO Sunday morning also! It’s not so bad, I was so worried about it and it ended up being the least of all the shots. Definitely warm it up! I gave mine to myself (my DH will legit pass out at the sight of needles lol) and I found that relaxing and taking weight off the leg really helped. I didn’t feel them at all. Occasionally you may get more blood than usual but that’s OK. I always massaged after, and then if I ever had a knot I would roll it out on my foam roller.

Also side note while on PIO subject: I gave myself the last shot in october. Anyone else have ongoing numbness that far out? It was mostly numb on my hip where I did the shots but it’s slowly moved down and now the numb sensation is on the back of my upper thigh, usually only notice it when I’m shaving. Will it eventually just keep on going down or what? Starting back on a Sunday I’m gonna be just a whole numb body lol

  • @Mando15 yay for a January transfer!!

@DecemberDoll27 I know what you mean about being too small for twins. I’m even smaller than you ;) 5’0” and about 100 lb

@bdaisy2761 PIO is really not that bad. First one is scary. But just make sure you put a heat pad afterwards and also massage the area.

@tnh0413 yep. I give myself the PIO shots in the butt and I have my upper outer thighs numb since March!!! I do acupuncture and that helps. Also Time helps. So it got better... but then once I start it gets bad again. In my case it’s not only numb but also painful for the touch. At first it also burned. So yeah, you’re not alone with this PIO numbness :(

  • I was given a shot of PIO to start my cycle. I was really nervous beforehand because I had heard how awful it is. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't find it very painful. The nurse said that it gets more painful once you're doing it daily. You girls are making me feel better about it!

My husband isn't a fainter, but he hates needles and blood. The nurse traumatized him when he watched her give me the shot a few weeks ago. I guess she had to put a lot of effort into pushing it out of the syringe and now he's freaked out about having to give them to me. I told him he has to suck it up. lol I did all of my shots for the IVF (except the last one when I was starting to get OHSS). The one he did give me hurt him more than it did me.  And those were baby needles! :D

Anyone have any success with acupuncture? I know it’s prob too late to start this soon prior to our FET, but just thinking ahead incase this one doesn’t stick.

  • Hey ladies! So I started prepping for our natural FET this past Wednesday. My doctor has me on letrozole until tomorrow and then I go in on Thursday to check the follicle(s).  I’m thinking I’ll trigger at some point over the weekend and the transfer will take place sometime between the 18th and 20th. I’ve never done a natural FET before so this is all new to me! We will be transfering 2 embryos, 1 from our first retrieval and 1 from our third.

Hope everyone else is doing well and things are progressing. (Still trying to catch up on everyone’s posts!)

@Knottie17863111I tried to give myself a shot during our last fet and I just could not go through with it! You’re much more brave than I am!
  • @tnh0413 I still have numbness from when I did a cycle in October- November. I asked my doctor and she said that sometimes happens. Really annoying though.
  • So my doctor just called me with my ERA results... my window was a receptive window but I need another 12 hours of PIO which is great news!

    Now for my dilemma...

    *** TW ****
a non optimal ERA window might explain why FET 2 & 3 ended with CP & BFN...
FET 1 did end up with a pregnancy that ended after few weeks....

After the CP we added neupogen to my protocol, to make sure that if my body fights with the embryo, it won't happen. But FET 3 ended with a BFN...

Anyhow, since the ERA results show that the window is not optimal, my doctor says she doesn't feel strongly that I need neupogen.... we still don't know what happened in FET 1 and why I had a m/c...

So I now have to decided if I'm going to do neupogen or not..... With neupogen, you have to check your blood count weekly to make sure it's not too high... and you continue daily until week 9. But there are hypothetical risks of leukemia to me or the baby... it's a little unknown...

    ***End TW***
