  • 1. How far along are you? What are the babies sizes, or if you know their weights??
    28 + 5, last ultrasound 15th %ile, but don't know weight.

    2. Any recent appointment updates,if not when is your next appt? Saw OB late last week, got T-Dap, and learned I have a 38 week cut off if you want to update for me @momma6angels11 :) Got a better idea of the timeline for my next appointments and ultrasounds, and asked a lot of questions this time. Glad to hear the episiotomy rate at my hospital is low. Was told that for twins it's better to get an epidural than nitris because of the higher possibility for ECS, so that answers the nitris question from earlier.

    3. How are you feeling? Pretty good today.

    4. Best moment with the babies this week? Lately they have been having 5-6 AM dance parties, which is pretty cute.

    5. Any Rants/ Raves/Questions, or  Advice ? I'm just so glad MH and I got our family visiting out of the way over October and Thanksgiving and opted for a just us Christmas/New Year's/anniversary since it will be our last. It's nice to be around family, but relaxing and productive staycations are amazing.

  • 1. How far along are you? What are the babies sizes, or if you know their weights??
27 weeks today! Babies are the size of fennec foxes :)
    2. Any recent appointment updates,if not when is your next appt?
Nothing recent, next appointment is January 2nd. That will also be my glucose screening (sarcastic yay :/
    3. How are you feeling?
Good but very tired. My carpal tunnel seems to be getting worse, so I'm concerned about being put on work restriction right at our busiest time of the year, but I've read that continuing to do things that can make the carpal tunnel worse can lead to it being permanent.
    4. Best moment with the babies this week?
Feeling them kick up a storm while we watched The Last Jedi :) Little geeks in the making lol
    5. Any Rants/ Raves/Questions, or  Advice ?
Just ranting about DH waiting to get things done until the last minute and it's driving me nuts! I wish I could lift stuff so I could just do it myself, but my back has told me it's not going to happen lol.

  • Merry Christmas everyone!! @vflux33 I updated your cut off! I got my tdap last week too. Did your on say a dry epi was a possibility?
@amanning2011 about the carpal tunnel.. i was told last week that if reducing salt and wrist braces dont help that going to a hand specialist could be an option as it can get to the point of being permanent damage..she said they had a twin mom get it so bad she had to get surgery on both hands and then had her babies 2 weeks later  and needed help with everything even wiping herself after bathroom use..
  • @momma6angels11 Wow I really wasn’t taking my carpal tunnel seriously enough now that I know it can lead to that kind of permanent damage... we talked about different kinds of epidurals but she said a lot at once and honestly I don’t remember all of it, other than I know she concluded that the situation will likely dictate the type of epidural recommended.

Hope that everyone has an awesome Christmas!

    1. How far along are you? What are the babies sizes, or if you know their weights??
29+5  they are pineapples or butternut sqaushes! Will know weights next week!
    2. Any recent appointment updates,if not when is your next appt?
No appointments this week,  but next week I have 2
    3. How are you feeling?
Pretty much the same.. Thinking the 7ish weeks cant come soon enough.. I also think I am going to give in and get the wrist things for the carpal tunnel..
    4. Best moment with the babies this week?
Just feeling them stretch out and watching them move is amazing.
    5. Any Rants/ Raves/Questions, or  Advice ?

Anyone else having to pee more often? What about breasts being more sensitive all of a sudden? Who all plans to breastfeed/ pump?

I hope everyone is doing well! And hope to see updates this week from @kikikav ,
    @i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake , @lexigirl1228 , @awolfff@sardavbak , @Mnddnvn, @syssa-o , and @Gingham
  • @momma6angels11 I have a lot of times when I feel like I REALLY have to pee and then there are like 4 drops. But it's been like that for me for awhile. I plan to try to BF, but I am kind of stressing the whole BFing twins thing. Are you? I know a lot of ppl who had a rough go BFing just one, and the time commitment just seems insane for two. I told MH that I'm going to give it a serious try but that if it goes poorly I'm not gonna hesitate to either supplement or switch to FF if I have physical problems or am driven absolutely crazy by it. I do really want to try though. Hopefully it'll work out.
  • @vflux33 i have needed to pee more often of course but it just seems like its gotten worse in the last week or so. I do plan on bf, but am worried about doing it with 2. I think if bf dont work well Ill try pumping exclusively and feed them the bm in bottles. If i need to supplement I will do that also. Lastly will be going to formula if needed..
  • @amanning2011 your number 5! Goodness, mine has been driving me bananas with that. They need an advent calendar....with chocolate and a honey-do checklist! Lol Though mine just went to babies last week and bought everything remaining on our registry...can’t really say much now!

@vflux33 I am totally sweating the breastfeeding. I did breastfeed my son for a few weeks and then exclusively pumped during the day for about 4 or 5 months while breastfeeding at night and then formula fed when I stopped producing (couldn’t even hand express milk out!)...that said breastfeeding was the most challenging in the beginning, but hands down the easiest long term. I took a breastfeeding class a couple weeks ago and found it really insightful. I had my son before being able to attend the class, so I’m glad I got to take it this time. I didn’t feel very supported in my mission to breastfeed my son and got really horrible advice from the lactation consultant in the NICU (she told me to ween him off the breast at 3 weeks “or he will never take the bottle”). And pretty much all the women in my family formula fed. Anyways, i made it clear with my husband and Mom this time we are breastfeeding and that is that! I’ve got breastfeeding support group schedules and lactation consultants bookmarked on my yelp and taken the class and feel a lot more prepared, but also really intimidated.

1/2. 30 weeks tomorrow! Have an OB appt but they don’t tell me the weight only the specialist does. No new updates. I’ll post again tomorrow if I get any major updates.

    3. Feeling basically good. Just tired and sore and my mother is driving me crazy. This week has been particularly tough with the family- husband’s brother passed away on Christmas...in Italy...so trying to be there for my husband and be on limited activity and keep my emotions in check..still try to help where I can....my poor husband :(

    4. Best moments with the babies has been when I can physically see them move. Husband has been doing more belly touching and thats always nice.

  • 1. How far along are you? What are the babies sizes, or if you know their weights??
27w1d.  At my ultrasound today, they were measuring 2lb15oz and 2lb7oz. Baby A's head is measuring 32 weeks!?  Dr is not concerned about it right now...my son's head always measured a couple weeks ahead and he, indeed, just has a really big head.

    2. Any recent appointment updates,if not when is your next appt?
I failed the 1 hour glucose test today :(  3 hour test on Friday.  Yay.

    3. How are you feeling? Not that great to be honest.  I still get nauseous every evening. I've never been so uncomfortable in my life.  Everything hurts. One baby is literally right under my breastbone. My New Year's resolution is to be more positive about the remainder of this pregnancy  :D

    4. Best moment with the babies this week? Just feeling them move all the time.  As difficult as this pregnancy has been, I still smile every time I feel them dancing around in there.

    5. Any Rants/ Raves/Questions, or  Advice ? I'm bummed about the glucose test.  My level was 195 and the cutoff for GD is 200, so I wish I could just skip the 3 hour.  Has anyone else been diagnosed with GD?
  • @vflux33 I plan on BFing and really, really hoping it works out, but I know it will be tough with twins.  I BF my son for a year and absolutely loved it.  I will be sad if it doesn't work out (plus the cost of formula for two babies...ugh!), but will try not to beat myself up over it.

And yes, I feel like I have to pee all.the.time. but sometimes only a little comes out. This is TMI, but sometimes when I stand up from the toilet, more comes out!  I even sit on the toilet, lean forward, wiggle around, make sure everything is out, but as soon as I stand up, more comes out!  I've learned to hold a bunch of toilet paper down there while I stand up.  Pregnancy is so glamorous.
  • @awolfff im so sorry to hear about your brother in law.. im glad that you are taking it easy and babies are staying put so far.
@Gingham I failed my 1hour glucose test.  I got a 143 and cut off was 135. I took my 3hr and passed. Fx that you pass the 3hr one.
As for the tmi..lol that has happened to me as well. You've got some good weights!!
  • @awolfff I'm so so sorry to hear about your brother in law. That's awful. Don't forget to take care of yourself. I know YH needs you, but if you overexert that won't do anyone any good. I hope your family heals well...Good to hear the breastfeeding class helped you. I'm registered for one in late January and trying to read up on what I can. With my family I think I have the opposite issue going on. Everyone except my mom (I'm looking at you, H and mother in law) seem to think that it's not possible for me to have a problem breastfeeding and I feel like I have to constantly warn people that it may not work out despite my best efforts. I'm glad you feel so much better going into breastfeeding this second time around. Hopefully it will go as planned this time.

@Gingham Sorry to hear you failed the 1 hour glucose test. That sucks. I hope you pass the 3 hour. I have the exact same pee issue when standing after --glad to hear I'm not alone! Hopefully your breastfeeding will go well again since you did it successfully before. But seriously, do not get down on yourself for having a rough time this pregnancy. Multiples pregnancies are hard. And despite some people making a fair effort to understand, no one who hasn't gone through this could possibly get it. I felt so validated last week when I talked to my OB: I was like, "hey, I feel 99% of all possible pregnancy symptoms and I seem to feel them worse than other people I know." And she said "Yes, of course you do! That's what happens in twin pregnancies. You have double everything, including all the discomforts." Just her saying that made me feel so much better. I guess I'm saying, if you want to be more positive then be more positive, but as someone who did a lot to get here with IF treatments and taking 1.5 years to get pregnant I'm totally over the guilt at not enjoying this pregnancy, and you should be too. Especially considering all you went through at the beginning of this, which was probably pretty traumatic for you. Give yourself a break! When your LOs are born, you'll have all the time in the world to be positive about them, and you don't have to feel bad for not feeling positive about the pregnancy itself. *End rant
  • 1. How far along are you? What are the babies sizes, or if you know their weights??
29w1d, 3 lbs each and trust me when I say my back is feelin it!
    2. Any recent appointment updates,if not when is your next appt?
Had OB on Monday and have MFM on Friday. Nothing to report, no news is good news!
    3. How are you feeling?
My back hurts and have recently begun feeling pressure in my pelvic area which comes and goes (kinda feels like someone punched me in my vagina). Mobility is very limited. Basically it hurts to move around. I'm most comfy lying down but even then I'm hurting. I've been getting on all fours when I can to take some of the weight/pressure off my internal organs. It feels amazing but I can't hold that position for very long. And need help getting up off of the floor.
    4. Best moment with the babies this week?
Everyday they stay put is a good day.
    5. Any Rants/ Raves/Questions, or  Advice ?
I am peeing more than ever. definitely more at night (about 3 times each night). No breast sensitivity but nipples are huge and dark. Ordering my breast pump this week, think I'm going with the Spectra.
  • On the topic of aches and pains, I was speaking to my OB about it this week and asking her if it was OK that I take Tylenol on a damn near daily basis and she gave me the option of narcotics. DH and I (he came with me for first time to meet OB) were kinda shocked she would offer this. I told her I don't think that's necessary at this point but wanted to ask if anyone else has any experience with this? I'm not the type of person to turn down pain relief but would like to take the least medication possible during this pregnancy. Maybe it would be better than so much Tylenol? Even with the Tylenol my back literally feels like it's breaking every time I get up from my desk at work.

I know that you ladies can relate to the discomfort!
  • @i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake i feel you as we probably all do. It hurts to get up from the couch, its hard to get in and out of the car. I also have the pelvic pressure coming and going. I hope your MFM appointment goes well tomorrow. As for narcotics I would not take them either. What about Arnica gel or tabs? I haven't taken any thing for my aches and pains yet, but that is where i would start as its a more natural medicine.
  • @i-wanna-b-the-girl-w-most-cake Yeah, I wouldn't take narcotics for that either. We have polar opposite OBs, mine is always like "you can take this Benadryl once if you're absolutely dying, but try not to" lol. Have you thought of taking the Tylenol at the worst time of the day and then dealing the rest of the day without? Are you getting prenatal massages? Some health plans will have semi-secret discounts for them (mine does and I'm only getting them once a month but they're soooo cheap and pretty decent). I do feel your pain too. I feel like almost every day is worse than the last.
  • 1. How far along are you? What are the babies sizes, or if you know their weights??
29 weeks today and had an ultrasound today, Baby A was 2 lbs 14 oz and Baby B was 3 lbs. 6 pounds of baby already! Baby B is now head down, but Baby A is kind of scrunched up breech underneath her. Really hope they are both head down by delivery time.

    2. Any recent appointment updates, if not when is your next appt?
No major updates from today's appointment. It was a quick ultrasound and quick visit. Now on to the 2-week appointments.

    3. How are you feeling?
Pretty good, surprisingly. Had to do most of my ultrasound on my side today though because when I lay on my back I start to feel faint.

    4. Best moment with the babies this week?
Just love seeing them on the ultrasound.

    5. Any Rants/ Raves/Questions, or  Advice ?
Rant: Oy with the peeing already. In the morning when I bend over to lift the toilet seat, pee squeezes out of me like a sponge. TMI.

Rave: My DH gave me a prenatal massage for Christmas and my appointment is tomorrow. Can't wait!

Advice: I too am planning to breastfeed, but will see how it goes with 2 and if I have to exclusively pump instead. I exclusively pumped with my daughter for about a year starting at 3 months after I went back to work and it was fine.

Have you guys heard about nipple shields? I think some people can probably be judgey about these and I'm sure some lactation consultants might not be quick to recommend because it's a device/not as natural or something, but it was a lifesaver for me. The last lactation consultant that came to see me in the hospital when my daughter was born gave one to me and I don't think we would've have been able to breastfeed without one. It assists with the latch if your nipples are on the flatter side. It was a major stress relief. I'm packing two in my hospital bag this time around, just in case.

@awolfff I'm so so sorry to hear about your brother in law. Take care of yourself too.

  • @vflux33 Thank you so much for saying all that.  I'm crying (hello hormones!)  I have felt a lot of guilt over not loving this pregnancy since I went through years of infertility as well, and wanted it so badly.  You're right about everything.  And now I'm not about to become more positive about this pregnancy because I was just diagnosed with GD and slight anemia.  Ugh!

@mnddnvn I used a nipple shield as well for the first few weeks and probably wouldn't have continued without it.  I don't think there's any shame in using them!!
  • @Gingham That sucks! I'm sorry. I have slight anemia too. Are you going to do iron supplements or just eat more red meat? Managing a big diet overhaul for both of those at the same is going to be a pain. At least you won't have to do it for super long, given that it's already almost January.

I'm always here if you need to vent about the lack of positivity over pregnancy stuff. TBH I find the cultural expectation that we're supposed to be jumping for joy this entire 9 months to be super irritating--that and the whole expectation about how "easy" it is to get pregnant in the first place. Both make it feel like there's something wrong with you if you have a different experience. But there's not. It's all BS  :)
  • 1. How far along are you? What are the babies sizes, or if you know their weights??

27 weeks 1 day. Our identical girls were both weighing in at 1lb 14oz today! They're measuring in the 18th percentile but the doctor says they're healthy- just petite!

    2. Any recent appointment updates,if not when is your next appt?

We had a growth scan today, which was nerve wracking after our last growth scan 3 weeks ago when Baby B was measuring in the 2nd percentile for her abdomen size. She is all caught up to her sister now and both are growing steadily! It was such a relief to get a good report. Baby B is having some elevated levels of something (S/D ratio) in her umbilical cord flow but it's been inconsistent- sometimes it's elevated, sometimes it's normal. So the doctor says she's just going to monitor it but isn't concerned. We will continue with growth scans every 3 weeks and fluid/Doppler checks every week or two.

    3. How are you feeling?

Feeling pretty good- my lower back and pelvis are killing me. Usually wake up feeling good and then am hobbling around by the end of the day. My blood pressure was a little high today (and at the last few doctor appointments) so now of course I'm worried about preeclampsia, especially since I've been having some minor headaches occasionally.

    4. Best moment with the babies this week?

My husband and I both saw them move from the outside!!! So exciting. And they've been moving like crazy.

    5. Any Rants/ Raves/Questions, or Advice ?

Anyone else having blood blood pressure issues? Any ways to manage/lower it?

  • @kikikav I was having blood pressure issues in the beginning and when I upped my protein intake my blood pressure stabilized.  I also check mine at home.. as it seems I also have the white coat syndrome..
  • @momma6angels11 that's good to know- I can definitely use to up my protein intake anyway. And I bet I have doctor related nerves too. My dad has a blood pressure machine that he is going to lend to me!
  • @vflux33 I'm just taking an iron supplement for now.

So far I'm not doing too well with the GD.  The dietician I was referred to is on vacation until the 8th so right now I'm just sorta going off what I'm reading online. I feel like I am eating well, but my levels are still high, including fasting.  I just need someone to tell me what to eat!
