GTKY: New Year's resolutions

Happy New Year! Let's hear all about your resolutions. Do you make them, do you keep them, or do you think it's just a waste? What does everyone have planned for 2018?

Re: GTKY: New Year's resolutions

  • My N.Y. resolutions are all geared towards LO tbh. I need to get done all the things I want done before babe gets here. Clearing junk rooms, my car, our pantry....want to make some meals for after he gets here.
They're not exactly "resolutions " as I'm not changing any behaviors but definently things that need to be done.
Allow my man Jon to show how I feel on the insides...

  • Mostly for me, it’s financial goals. Since we’re looking to buy a house Spring 2019 (will qualify for first time homebuyer credits in our state at that point and DD2 will not be an infant anymore), I’m hoping to reduce our overall debt utilization ratio by 20% for revolving debt like our credit cards. It won’t be easy since our diaper budget and daycare budgets are doubling and income won’t be increasing much but that’s also another resolution- get DD1 potty trained.
  • My New Years resolution is to hopefully find a new job post/ or become a SAHM post maternity leave, so I can spend more time with my family (currently commuting 2.5 hrs/day & work very long days). My husband, kids & myself need this.

Also, getting DS potty trained and in a big boy bed before baby gets here....well at least the bed before baby.
  • Sorry I’m late. I came on here to catch up the first and fell asleep in the middle of reading a post! Lol. Then last night was a birth class at the hospital.

Anyway, we started a journey towards becoming more minimalist last year and I am focused on getting our house in order and the rest of our “extra” out. I want a house free of triggers for my anxiety... and crap everywhere is a huge trigger.

I am also going to start a capsule wardrobe and yesterday I started in on my closet. I’ve been holding on to way too many clothes and a lot of them aren’t even “me”.

And like @megpeg I want to make more time for me this year. I bought a meal plan/grocery list service so I do better about handling dinner and not eating out as much, especially with 2.0. I have made it a point to make hair appointments, a facial and a massage on a regular basis too. I cannot pour from and empty cup and I have been neglecting myself for far too long. I also try to do a five minute journal everyday and I bought some books and a devotional for some personal growth.

2018 feels like a big year with a lot of change, but I finally feel ready.
  • @megpeg @mdfarmchick y'all are mom goals! I hope you two get the extra me time y'all need!

  • I started a company as a free-lance editor 2 years ago. I've been growing a clientele base, but it's been slow. So my goal is, after taking 6-8 weeks maternity leave, to buckle down and blog/vlog regularly to build my online presence and grow business. We're gonna need the money when LO gets here, I'm sure!
