I am ready for spring. My DD has strep and a sinus infection, my DS1 has a cold that has 104 temps, nasty cough, and it's a virus. We had him tested for the flu and strep both negative. My DS2 was just diagnosed with the flu.
I have been up all night with a child who is sick. I am exhausted.

Sorry to everyone who is sick, has sick kids, and has to return to work tomorrow! I am dreading work tomorrow too, and my son has a cold so I'm crossing my fingers he won't have a fever when he wakes up.
I have to bitch about my dad for a minute. Out of nowhere he texted me today to talk about my state's new maternity leave law, which phases in with 8 weeks paid leave ("paid" it's only 50% up to the state max of $1,000 per week) starting today, and will eventually be 12 weeks. This is amazing for someone like me who works at a small company and is not protected by FMLA. Last time I was back to work 6 weeks postpartum because I have no choice, I had to keep my job. Well my dad went on and on about how this is over regulation and it should be left to the free market and how companies would stop hiring women of childbearing age. He can have his (in my view mysogonistic and uninformed) opinion, but why the F did he feel the need to go out of his way to text me about this, and basically try to start a political argument with me?? I basically told him it was because of this law that he was getting another grand kid and stopped responding to him. Trying not to let it bother me, but the attitude and laws in this country surrounding maternity leave just make me SO angry.

@zande2016 I hate when people purposely try and engage you in a convo when they know you guys hold opposite views and to get a rise, not just for a conversation or information sharing. Like, how could he possibly think you would be like, oh right, i see your point, we shouldn't have those laws? I'm all for conversations with people I don't agree with but I hate it when the entire purpose seems to be to butt heads.
My bitchfest will, forever and always, be potty training. Trying to turn a new leaf and not let the manipulation at bed time get to me, and started bed time earlier today expecting it. I was ok til minute 40 of bed time, the 4th time taking the diaper off and putting it back on, and him waiting until I am basically exiting the room to say he has to go. And then of course I talk to him about my feelings like he understands and he just laughs which makes me want to scream. But...we are back on teh potty training band wagon, so I guess that's a positive!

@SmashJam potty training is the worse! I fought with DD with this. I got advice from another mom who told me to have my daughter name the toilet because she would never poop in it. The mom told me to have her give it a name and tell her you have to give it pee and poop for it to eat and drink. At first I was like WTF!??!! But I tried it and it Friggen worked!
My Monday Bitchfest is my toddler who hates eating. It’s always a war and then when she does my floors are a mess because she eats like a slob. It’s so frustrating.
@Jessicajorden I’m with you on the slob toddler. DS literally spit out his homemade corn dog today right on the floor while looking directly at me. Then laughed and ran away.

The gas is toxic but I can barely poop so I feel bloated and uncomfortable and so self conscious and embarrassed. also I thought my headaches had taken a turn for the better and I was feeling 2nd tri vibes for a few days but nope back with a vengance today. So it is self care night for me face mask, jacuzzi bath, halo top ice cream, sparkling juice and old seasons of worst cooks in america
@lindsayleigh1989 I hope you start feeling better soon! I too keep thinking I'm turning a corner and then my first trimester symptoms come back with a vengeance.

Also, we announced to my step sister and step brother Christmas eve. My step brother and his wife are super excited for us. However my step sister barely looked at me. Everything is a competition with her, everything. When I announced I was getting married, she told everyone in the same conversation that she got permission to start planning a wedding (wasnt engaged yet). Every conversation about my wedding planning in her presence was turned into hers. It's annoying. When she finally got engaged, her wedding was planned in a month. She was married 8 months after I was. Every conversation she has to have the last word, be right, and/or make about herself. She documents her life on social media. She made it very clear she got married to have a child (she is in her late 30's). *Tw* She doesn't know about my 2 previous mc and how hard they are. She doesnt know the emotional and mental trauma it has caused. /end tw. She doesn't know how rough 2017 truly has been for myself or my husband (different novel). She literally told my step brother, why couldn't it be her to be pregnant. She can't just be happy for someone else, especially when it comes to my mom and her kids. So now my step sister wont come around or call. Shes just so self consumed. I knoe this is who she is and she will never change. It's just so frustrating that she won't get over herself.
@zombiehoohaa she sounds like a piece of work! Sucks that you have to be related. I know a few people like this and I just try and distance myself from them because it’s hard to not let their bs consume me. I’m happy she’s pushed away (although it’s for selfish reasons ) your better off without her pettiness right now.
@jessicajordan what's sad is that my step dad (her dad) has dementia and he is only getting worse. I live with him, so I see his day to day struggles, challenges, ups and downs, etc. She only comes around once or twice a month. She sells these gut health supplements and pushed it on my step dad. Well, she swear he is getting better on it, which he isnt. She even went on social media to use him as a reason to buy the products. Come on!!! You make my mom pay full retail price for these products, then visits once or twice a month and then tells your followers the dementia is going away...ugh!!!!!! No bitch, he isnt getting better. He is getting worse. He is struggling more and more each day. My mom won't say anything because she doesn't want to cause issues with my step dad. I'm so fucking tired of it. Oh and she bad mouths my mom to other family and friends any chance she gets. Yet people think my step sister is pretty flipping fantastic. (Insert eye roll) Its just...wth... And to charge for these pills wouldn’t you want to give them to your father to make him better and not make a buck out of it. That right there shows how awful she is. I'm dreading work tomorrow after all these days off, it's making me anxious. I'm feeling kind of anxious in general actually, like physically anxious. I don't want to commute on a crowded train tomorrow, don't want to sit at work all day, none of it. I know I just got too comfortable after almost 2 weeks off but I feel so loopy.

As someone who works in pharma and knows what a white whale any effecive therapy for Dementia/Alzheimer’s has been for the industry for 20+ years, pretending that some nonsense supplement could have any real impact is so repulsive to me. I am sorry you have to be around that toxicity!

I work for a research based nutrition company who only interacts with practitioners (i.e. medical doctors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, etc.). We have some great products, however, I would NEVER recommend them for my step dad because of how advanced his dementia is (maybe just a basic omega, b12, if that). Nor would I just give him something without providing proper information for his doctors to make the final decision to use them or not. Not to mention, even charge my parents for the products. Seriously!!! Like WHAT THE EEFFF!?!?!
