Re: Weekly Randoms 12/26

  • @JJMNO1616 I too wore a hospital gown for the reasons above. I had yoga pants, nursing tanks etc for the remainder of my stay because that’s what was comfortable to me. I’ll prkbably do something similar this time. Maybe bring a robe, haven’t thought too much about it.

  • @klburke88, my MIL is the same. The volume of stuff she gives is absolutely insane. She is a keeps her basement all stocked up and buys stuff all year long. We sort through everything she gives us and end up taking a lot of it to be donated right away.

  • @kmalls very true it’s just crazy how expensive insurance is and how little it can get you. But it’s not all for nothing when it comes to the deductibles. We had an awesome plan when I first got pregnant that covered everything and had no deductible and his work changed insurance and that’s all changed now so it’s an adjustment to get used to. I am at least thanksfuk our jobs offer insurance
  • @JJMNO1616 I wore the hospital gown and a robe. By the actual birth part I'm not sure how much I was actually wearing, to be honest.

@babyclarke429 girl I feel your pain, trust me. We were shocked every time a bill came in with our first pregnancy before we figured out how the plan worked. It was enfuriating having to pay what seemed like a lot from every paycheck and yet also having to pony up the cash for every procedure. I’m sorry you’re going through that now!
  • @sapphires-and-diamonds add us to the potty training club only we've had zero pees in the potty. She's interested tho so I've got that going for me.

What are you doing for naps/overnights? We used diapers since yest was only day 1.
@beach_mama sorry I'm just seeing this now. So DS has basically stopped napping regularly, but he has taken late naps the past 2 days because he's so screwed up from Christmas. He fell asleep on our recliner in the livingroom both days so I just stuck a towel under him, but he stayed dry. Bed time I have been brave and left off diapers. He has consistently woke up dry for a couple months now so I figured he's be ok. I think what has helped is there are no diapers in his mind. I told him they were all gone now. So it's the potty or wet pants. He's also older and has been physically ready. I just wasn't  :D

Thanks for all the feedback about the hospital attire! On a different note, I just got myself roped into a debate on a breastfeeding FB page and some of these women are SO out of control. These two girls called another poster selfish and lazy for letting her baby CIO for ONE hour ONE night at 9 months old because she was trying to change their night BF routine. The OP said after that one night the baby adjusted fine and they haven’t had any issues since. Both of these women tried to say that now the baby has learned in that one hour that their needs will no longer be met when crying and that they were abandoned. I serious can’t with these crazies.

  • Man y’all got this FTM worried about all the judgment coming my way post birth... how do you guys deal? I feel like my eyes are already stuck mid roll and babes not even here yet
  • I’m not sure if this is where I should ask this so if it is out of line just let me know. Is there a way to view your previous posts in these forums. I honestly haven’t been on this as much as I would like and have only posted a couple of times. I am wanting to post more lately but can’t remember where I have already posted. So is there a section you can go to to find all your posts or do you just have to search every page of threads to find where you posted last? Also, it would be handy to know if my previous posts received any “likes” or were quoted. Thanks in advance for input on this. And my apologies if this is a dumb question or wrong place to put it.
  • @dubnug Exactly what dumbgurl said except I will add that you have to be on a computer. The phone app and mobil version of the website won’t let you view your history.
  • @dubnug on the mobile app you can go to the search bar and type in your username and make sure if your in other groups you search just April 2018 moms and it will show you.
  • so because this amazing baby likes to sit on my bladder I need to go pee all of the time. not a huge problem but at work we have cheap toilet paper. I have seriously been considering taking in my own because after the second time in a day it's to rough and hurts to wipe.
  • This probably belongs in a FFFC post, but... I peed my pants this week. Like just a little, but enough to have to change my underwear (obv) and my leggings. Thankfully I was at home and just trying to tell DH something while hysterically laughing and couldn’t hold it in. I feel like a real member of the club now! Needless to say I’ve started doing my kegels again  :D

Totally unrelated - has anyone done their yearly physical with their regular PCP during pregnancy? I was due for mine back in 1st tri and had to cancel due to a scheduling conflict but never made a new appt. I’m wondering if I should make one, or whether it’s even necessary since I’ve been seeing my OB monthly (and now bi-weekly as of next week).

  • Ugh, on top of still recovering from RSV now it’s apparent poor DS has some 2-year molars coming in. Poor kid is in so much pain and he’s now old enough that the teething drooling really pisses him off :( he’s just the saddest little guy right now!
  • @frenchiekinplusone I was supposed to have my checkup with my PCP in Oct, but had to cancel because I was going out of state.  I never rescheduled (and probably am not going to) because there's nothing he can do for me anyway.  Seems like my OB is taking care of everything pretty well for me and I see them every month...no need to add another one in there lol.

  • @Puddlewonderful I feel your pain, DS has his 2 year molars coming as well. I hope your DS is feeling better soon!

  • @frenchiekinplusone - I went to my annual visit with my PCP. I had asked OB about pap/cervical prior and he said no. So PCP visit was a waste, but insurance covers physical so I figured I would ask her a few random things (new freckles, etc).

  • Does anyone know if Buy Buy Baby accepts expired coupons like Bed, Bath, and Beyond does?
  • @JJMNO1616 they do not. It’s super annoying! But I am pretty sure bed bath and beyond will accept expired buy buy baby coupons, so still keep them!
  • @Puddlewonderful Ugh! That’s so disappointing. I asked google and I got mixed responses. I have been saving them in hopes I could go in and purchase several items but I may just have to use them as they come in so I make the most of them. The completion discount is only 10% which kind of stinks considering how jacked up their prices are in the first place.
  • @frenchiekinplusone my gen practice doc told me she didn't want to waste my time with an annual after making sure I was regularly seeing the OB and didn't have any medical needs.  Everything she would check for is already done by the OB, and there are things a GP can't even really talk to you about (such as weight).  So the usual routine is pointless.

  • @psuxray07 @g_amoss @ngolimento thanks ladies!! I won’t worry about it then :) the only one I’ll probably make is a dermatologist appt cause I think I’m due. #palepeopleproblems

  • Eeesh so I think nesting has started for me. I spent all morning making my husband hang pictures on the wall and now I’m dying for DS to nap (which is a long shot) so I can reorganize the cabinets. Yikes. 27 week is definitely the time last year when I freaked out that I could’t get our house clean enough and bought a new vacuum :#
  • Has anyone on here taken antibiotics in pregnancy? I developed a bad cold almost two weeks ago which turned into laringitis on Christmas day, and has migrated into my lungs. I have a bad cough and haven't slept more than a few hours in a row for a week because I'm up all night coughing. It's miserable. I've talked to two docs, including my MW, and they were hesitant to proscribe anything because of the pregnancy. I'm pretty sure its a sinus infection but I'm being told to keep waiting it out, use a humidifier, and "hydrate and rest." Does anyone know if there are significant risks to antibiotics at this point?
  • @kmalls I feel you! DH is at the Pats game today (I know, you couldn’t pay me enough money to be outside that long in this cold) so I’m cleaning all the things. Just finished a long-overdue oiling of our butcher block countertops and really considering hiring a service to do a deep clean before baby comes. So much to dooooooo. Hope your DS sleeps a bit so you can get things done!

  • @mountainsmama do they think it's bacterial?

I just got off a dose of augmentin for a sinus infection. Infant risk hotline and mommy meds app said safe.

  • @frenchiekinplusone oh man, I spent many a childhood sunday afternoon crying from the cold at Foxborough (because my parents are those kind of Pats fans), but I cannot even with this weather. My eyeballs freeze going out to the car, nevemind sitting through that game. More power to him!

PS- we are DVRing the game so we can watch it uniterrputed by kids later. Tell me the score and our internet friendship is over ;)

  • @JJMNO1616 for both births I wore a jersey knit yoga type skirt, sports bra, and tank. It was super comfy and when it was go time we just hiked the skirt up. Now for this baby I am most likely going to wear whatever they provide, but I will bring my own warm robe and socks. Hospitals are so cold!
