Re: GTKY: Google edition

  • Besides the standard How big is my baby stuff I've Googled:

High blood sugar sign of early pregnancy
    out of breath early pregnancy
twitchy eyelid sign of pregnancy (see the rabbit hole, here?)

What does an ultrasound look like at 8w
    cardio for pregnancy
    best nursing bras
    fish to eat during pregnancy

Clearly I need to step away from the Google for a hot minute

  • I've been Googling little girl bedrooms.  We are having our two oldest start to share so I want to make it super cute for them.  Of course, DD1 wants a Descendants theme and I shot that down.  No character themes for us!

  • @msmonalisavito Ugh, Descendants. Haven't seen it, but the commercials for it make me cringe. I also hate character-themed anything. I swear my mom ONLY buys clothing for DS if it has a cartoon character on it.

I've been googling nursing clothing. I'm not buying any more maternity clothing this time around, but I do want to have more easy nursing stuff, so I'm looking for things that are highly-rated. Etsy actually has a ton of stuff. I had never thought to look there before. If anyone has something they loved, I'd appreciate the recommendation! I'm looking for mostly casual/athletic wear.

  • @boymom4eva - LOL! Is it your prenatal? I think some of them have extra fiber?

@brzvice - YES to the science! but relaxin has made my hip joints its bitch lately so I'm a little mad at it.

@msmonalisavito - Is there a color scheme or something that is Descendants-ish without being so obvious?

@lakesideknitter - I mostly lived in old navy nursing tanks and yoga pants so I don't have any recommendations -I have heard awesome reviews about the Kindred line though, have you looked into those? And I hadn't even thought of looking on etsy!

@mdc2013 - I'm sorry about the nausea. Have you found anything that helps? Asking for a friend...

@ecwk - I cringed at your first one - ouch! You ok? And I feel like I'm so much more bloated with this pregnancy - like so much that when I do announce at work they'll be like yea we've known for months.

@jsnakehole - yup! Ugh with the fluctuating symptoms!

  • @mrsbubbles-2 I could probably do decor in purple/silver/gold but I don't know if I'm feeling that.  I'm hoping I can find some cute pictures I can show her that she'll like.

  • @mrsbubbles-2 lol yes I'm fine. My toddler is rather rambunctious. He likes to climb all over me and jump too. I figure it's fine, my uterus is still well protected below my pubic bone anyway! And he's not *that* rough. Although just now I stretched forward to grab him and feel like I pulled a muscle in my vag :hushed:

  • @ecwk lol I have googled that as well. My toddler loves climbing and jumping on me too. I've started to use a pillow to protect myself and she doesn't really like that :/
  • Variations of "is ______ normal in early pregnancy?" and "what can I take for nausea because I'm pretty sure I didn't drink but I feel super hungover in early pregnancy." lol
  • @lakesideknitter I have a few things from latched mama which I loved, my fav being one of their nursing dresses. Some of the stuff is ugly imo, but some things are cute, functional, and well made.
  • @mrsbubbles-2 I also googled yesterday about whether it was normal to feel breathless in early pregnancy. I felt out of breath just doing the dishes!

TMI: Today pretty much as soon as DH and I were done having sex I googled "cramps during orgasm in early pregnancy."  :# It was the first time I've had cramping so far and it made me nervous. I was also really mad at Google for autocorrecting it to 'orgasim.' Google needs to learn how to spell! FYI: Dr. Google says the cramping was normal.

  • Baby boutiques in Florida. Lol. Hoping to find some cute stuff to buy while on vacay. I love finding homey non-chain boutiques.
  • @offtoneverland During my first pregnancy being I remember being so freaked out by the cramps post orgasm, and then I'd spot for a day or two afterwards as well. So it's understandable to be nervous. I'm still nervous about it with this pregnancy, as well, but neither he nor I can live as monks. Lol
  • *TW* My googling is darker. I am paranoid lately about MMC so keep looking it up. I’ll feel better Friday once we see the bean for the first time. I have no history of loss, only Infertility issues but it still freaks me out

I love the descendants, I was Uma for Halloween. Not sure I would want a bedroom themed it, but I think the suggestions of using the colors is a good suggestion. How old are the girls?

@hardlyhannahme too!!! Idk why I keep torturing myself, I've been reading some awful things.

@offtoneverland in third tri last pregnancy my whole bump would go rock hard post orgasm. Freaked me out!

Edit because the bump keeps effing up my autocorrect (for instance it just now changed "my" to "NTNP" and "changed" to "comes". WTAF.)

  • @ecwk yesss to the toddler jumping question! It seems like magically he decided he wants to kick and jump on my belly and pelvis.
Also a lot of googling "is ______ safe to eat or drink"
It stinks my appointment isn't until January 30th so I can't ask the Dr about my dumb questions like decaf coffee ect.

  • @meeks2020 do hey have MyChart or something where you can email them questions one off?

  • @hardlyhannah maybe? I've never seen a Dr in this town but I imagine they do. I'm unsure if I could send questions to them since I haven't seen them yet?

I can’t imagine that they would be unwilling to answer your questions as you’re establishing a relationship in the coming weeks. I would call and see. Worst they can do is say no. Tell the nurse you’ve been googling, they’ll take your questions right away lol

  • @meeks2020 I'm googling a lot of "safe to eat" questions too.  That and about symptoms coming and going, and about side effects of progesterone suppositiories have been in my google searches...
  • Mostly "is ____ safe to eat during pregnancy" or questions about how many appointments I should have since I'm AMA. In my opinion if you're going to label me as a geriatric pregnancy I should get more appointments early on =/.

  • Recently I've been googling about being super cold always during pregnancy. I can't tell if it's because my new office building is freezing and the house we just moved into a couple months ago is an older, bigger home, or if it's pregnancy related. I think we need warmer curtains in our master bedroom because there are massive windows in it and I can feel the chill coming from them at night.

Also Google told me it could be all kinds of bad things if pregnancy is making me cold so I'm hoping it's just the cold workplace and bedroom lol.

  • @alinafed I’m always cold too but I didn’t think to google it. Now I’m too scared to! Lol.

All of my googling has been about what’s safe to eat or take during pregnancy. Pretty boring and typical.

    Does Zofran cause constipation?

Ugh seriously! Didn't poop for five days, thought I was going to die
  • @hannerbananers Yup! My OB and GP both warned me about Zofran's constipation side effects. GP, who is a relatively new mother herself, who took it as well, said I could cut the pills into quarters and take them as needed to knock the vomiting back with less constipation, rather than the whole pill which is often overkill.

I'm just finishing up 5w5d, and so far what rare nausea I have is fixed with saltines and ginger. But I have the Zofran ready to go.
  • My current Google searches are pertaining dental work while pregnant. I've got an old composite filling scheduled to be replaced on Jan 12th and I'm finding conflicting information on whether I should just proceed with the procedure, or wait till the second trimester.

I already have a peculiar mouth in that I require 2-3x more anesthetic to effectively numb things. The last one I had done just before finding out I was pregnant I wasn't even completely numb for, I just told him to start drilling because I was tired of being stuck and waiting.
  • @neeraja_k I went in for a cleaning yesterday and the hygenist told me I needed to wait until 2nd tri before they would do it. Every dentist may be different, and mine may just be cautious, but you may need to wait a bit longer before dental work...
  • Also need dental work! I need a crown and I need to have wisdom teeth pulled in order to get the crown. Not sure when I'll be able to get all that done now!
