My parents got us an ice cream maker, which was totally unexpected. We thought we were just going there for dinner, not for gifts. Yay for new headphones for you!
My H got me a Serger!!!! If I knew how to gif to show my excitement I totally would!! Sadly I haven't had a chance to really play with it yet, have to rethread it because I already broke thread
@meggyme new headphones are always great! I got DH some in his stocking, his old ones were GROSS!!
@CecilB93 Yay for the serger! That's totally awesome! We also got a surprise gift from DH's brother in our email. He signed us up for six months of Moviepass!
So. News about the car.
Bad: The guy who hit us still hasn't given his statement to the insurance. We had to give them the police report, which definitively stated that he was at fault. The insurance finally took liability and we heard from them yesterday. The car is totaled. We're going to receive a check from them for the market value of the car, which is around $8500. We still owe $11k on it, since we just bought it in January. Because it's a debt, we're responsible for paying the difference unless we have gap insurance.
Good: We contacted our insurance today to let them know that it was totaled, and they took it off our policy retroactive to the day after the accident. They're refunding us a decent chunk of our premium from this month, since the car was totaled a week before that premium was due. It turns out that we DO have gap insurance on the car, but neither of us remembered it, lol. We don't know how much of the difference it'll cover just yet, but we'll find out. At least we know it won't be the full amount. The gap insurance company told us to continue making our regular payments on it until everything is done.
Once everything is settled with the car, we're going to get a new one. We don't know what kind, but probably some sort of crossover or something. We'll figure it out.
@meggyme For the most part! We're out of the holding pattern and just waiting on paperwork now. I'm doing okay, for the most part. Just a lot of anxiety. I've had at least four anxiety attacks of varying degrees since the accident, and I'm still not able to drive. DH is fine. He's worried about me, since I've never had this frequency of anxiety attacks before. How're you?
@dreamscapes_ sorry the car is totaled, but yay for gap!! From my side (I book loans at a bank) gap is a PITA, but it's definitely a good thing for the customer! So glad you have it! And glad to hear that you're both physically okay. I'm sorry about the anxiety attacks though. Have you discussed with your doctor at all? Sorry if you've mentioned that before. I imagine it's a fairly common thing though after a traumatic event though, so don't worry too much about them just yet! You've got time to get over the attacks, and you will
