Physical health check-in 12/22

This thread is for those who are trying to maintain physical activity throughout pregnancy. It can be walking around the block, hitting the gym, training for a marathon, and everything in between.

There is no physical activity too small during pregnancy.

    How did this week go for you?
    It did not go well. I only got in 1 workout so far, but we had the stomach bug going through our home so I think it's acceptable that I missed a day. I was going to go this morning while my mom hung out with the twins, but I napped instead. It was glorious.

    How are you feeling about your exercise?
    Pretty good! I am still doing more than most of the non pregnant people at my gym so I think that's a success.

    How are you fitting in exercise around the holiday? (Some of you may not celebrate, but I'm sure most gyms are closing which is a bummer.)
    I am still going to hit the gym today. And they are open Christmas Eve their regular morning hours so I'll go then before we cram into the van for a 2 hour car ride to my in laws. It'll help lessen my anxiety and nerves about being in the car for 4 hours on Christmas Eve.

    I did okay. I went 3x but I missed going today because of last minute Christmas stuff, and I probably won’t go until next Wednesday.

    How did this week go for you? 

    I've been avoiding this thread like the plague because I haven't been to the gym since Thanksgiving week... until today!  I walked for a half hour on the treadmill and am gonna try to keep up with it 3 times a week again

    Hopeful that I'll stick with it

    I'm gonna try to go at least once this weekend. I haven't been getting much sleep so if I feel like sleeping in will be more beneficial than going to the gym, then that's what I'm gonna do

    How did this week go for you? Eh. Got a few walks in so that's something.

    How are you feeling about your exercise? It's been hit or miss. Depends on how many contractions in having during the morning if I push it or not. I find when I have them frequently in the morning and exercise midday/afternoon they are worse at night.

    How are you fitting it in around the holiday? Probably just try and take a walk or two in the days following Christmas. I also think after New Years I'm going to switch back to yoga a few times a week instead.

    How did this week go for you? I walked a ton in NY!  It felt good to be active all day. 

    How are you feeling about your exercise? I haven’t gotten back to intentional exercise yet  I’m going on a walk tomorrow and hoping to get back in the swing of it after Christmas.  My lungs finally feel back to normal.

    How are you fitting in exercise around the holiday? (Some of you may not celebrate, but I'm sure most gyms are closing which is a bummer.) Going on a walk tomorrow morning. Christmas Day is too crazy for us to fit anything in. 

  • Late to this, but I was thinking of you @suchaglencoco bc I am going to try kickboxing again for the first time in like 4 months this Thursday. My friend who got me into kickboxing is coming to visit and wanted to go. It's an instructor I love, but at a different studio (mine closed down). I'm guessing I am going to be way out of shape for this since I've pretty much only been doing barre classes the past 4 months. 

    @mileswithmyles I'm sure you did walk a ton in NYC! Can't really escape it there :)

    How did this week go for you? Pretty good. My barre studio had a Holiday Bingo challenge (see pic) so I was trying to go a lot to win some prizes. It was a fun motivation tool. 


    How are you feeling about your exercise? Okay. I usually go 6x a week, but went 5x this week. I want to run more and start squatting more. My motivation for that is weak though. I am thinking of running on the treadmill today, so will report back next week if that happened/how it went. Maybe I should make a new years resolution/schedule so I do more cardio and squats for the remainder of this pregnancy. 

    How are you fitting in exercise around the holiday? Definitely took off yesterday and today. My husband is away until NYE, so I have plenty of time to focus on me and exercise. Luckily my barre studio is open the rest of the month.

  • @silverhope, I'm sure you'll do great considering how much other exercise you do! 
    I worked out Sunday morning with a trainer I rarely see. I told him "I swear I haven't gotten lazy on you" and he laughed. He then told me "we have women with your, um, 'condition' at our other location so I get it".
  • @suchaglencoco haha, I love when people try to phrase/comment on pregnancy delicately. But yea, I know I will not have the same stamina, but hopefully I can at least complete the class. I'll let you ladies know next wk :)

    How did this week go for you?

    Not great. My SCH was gone at my 20 week ultrasound, and I haven't had any bleeding in almost two weeks, so I can finally get more active. My goal is to walk the dogs once a day for 15-20 minutes, then go to run/walk from there. And then I got a positive flu test yesterday, so I'm firmly parked on the couch until further notice. I'm terrified of the potential flu complications, and am not about to push myself one iota until it's completely gone. Someday I WILL be active again!
