FTM here with a question. I was wondering if any second time moms had this happen to them. I’m exactly 37 weeks tomorrow. Today I took a nap and woke up and felt liquid trickeling down. It went down both my legs and was clear. I went Into the bathroom and called for my husband. More trickled out into a decent puddle on the floor. This definitely wasn’t urine, and I had no pain/contractions. I called and we went to the hospital. It was not amniotic fluid, so it wasn’t my water that broke. The doctor called it something ridiculous and said when women get to term they can have excess fluid that leaks. It might have accumulated and gushed out. I asked her how I would know what the difference is between this and my water breaking? It was clear, trickled, smelled different. That’s what they tell you to look for. She said we made the right call and we wouldn’t know unless we went in and had it tested. Has anyone else ever had this happen? Everyone says ‘you’ll know when you’re in labor.’, but if this wasn’t my water breaking what else should I look for? I felt like a typical FTM that thought she was in labor and wasn’t. Will I have more of this? If you had this, how did you labor start?
