Re: DD Check-in 1st week of June (week of Dec 21)
16 weeks, a lightbulb!
How are you feeling? Physically or emotionally?
The most I can complain of is daily headaches. I spoke with my OB about it at my appointment yesterday, blood pressure is good so he’s not too worried and he suggested it may be from how I’m sleeping. Which once I thought about it could totally be possible because I’m usually a stomach sleeper which is starting to get uncomfortable so I’m kind of twisting half on my stomach and half on my side, probably doing something to my neck that’s not normal.
What are you looking forward to this week? Dreading?
Christmas is my holiday to work this year so I won’t have as much time with family. I did have a lovely coworker switch a shift with me so I have Christmas Eve off anyways. We will do a potluck on Christmas Day and I love my coworkers so I won’t complain too much.
GTKY: What names do your parents or in-laws go by/want to go by? I.e. grandma or nana?
My parents decided before DD was born that they wanted my dad to be Papa- it bugs me just a tish because sometimes people use papa more interchangeably with dad instead. But she loves her papa so much and it was one of the first words she said so I just go with it. For Grandma, she couldn’t say it for a while so she would say Hamma and for some reason that has really stuck now as well! DH’s parents just go by Grandpa and Grandma so at least there’s no confusion on who she’s talking about.
17 weeks, the size of a chipmunk
How are you feeling?
Im feeling really good. I’m getting the occasional sciatic pain but I’ve been trying to do my exercises (pelvic tilts and such) more frequently to prevent it from getting worse. DS is 18m and going through a super clingy phase. He has been utterly destroying my stomach with his little elbows and knees. The baby is NOT a fan on him laying on my stomach and kicks back. It’s cool
to feel them almost interacting already.
What are you looking forward to this week? Dreading?
Im so excited to see DD open up Christmas gifts. She gets sooo pumped over then and it’s adorable. This will be our first Christmas morning spent in our own house since DD was 3 months old. I’m looking forward to starting traditions as our own little family.
ETA: I’m dreading my ILs and BILs family will be here for a few days. They stress like crazy and make everything a wayyy bigger deal than it is. So that will be fun. *eyeroll*
GTKY: What names do your parents or in-laws go by/want to go by?
My parents go by GiGi and Abuelo but DD started calling him BoBo when she first started talking. DS just started calling him BoBo too, so that might be his name for some years to come.
My ILs are just Grandma and Grandpa. They have two older grandchildren that already called them that.
How are you feeling? Physically or emotionally? Good, finally over this cold. Excited to be feeling baby. DH could finally feel her last night very briefly. That was fun.
What are you looking forward to this week? Dreading? Nothing reeeeally. Pretty low key. Will see my BFF this weekend, which will be fun. Will see my dad, which will be.......fine.
GTKY: What names do your parents or in-laws go by/want to go by? I.e. grandma or nana? So my mom called her grandma nony (nah-knee), which she always thought was the traditional italian word for grandma (it isn't). I suggested maybe she go by nona, which IS the traditional italian word for grandma, but she's not sure. Her latest suggestion is to go by nana because "the dog in Peter Pan was very nice and went by Nana." I think all the grandpas will go by grandpa. I think MIL will go by grandma probably.
@dinodna3 haha that’s actually so cute that baby kicks back!
AFM
17 weeks tomorrow, size of a chipmunk!
Im feeling pretty good apart from heartburn. Been experiencing some neck pain, so I broke down and bought a chiropractic pillow.. so hopefully that helps. Baby’s kicks are getting strong & ive been feeling them from the outside already! Definitely wasn’t expecting that this early!
Looking forward to finding out baby’s gender tomorrow & taking DD to the winter wonderland light show in the evening! Also just watching her experience Christmas this year in general!
Parents are just grandma & grandpa. In laws, too, so it gets a little confusing.
16 weeks- Can of Spam
How are you feeling? Physically or emotionally?
I'm feeling pretty good- big but good. Very tired... but I think that's just my way of life now.
What are you looking forward to this week? Dreading?
Christmas is maybe 80% ready... can't believe it's on Monday... and not sure that I'll get everything done. I want to get handprint kits to make for my mom and MIL. I need to get the air mattress blown up again and find the extra sheets/ comforter for my in laws. They are coming Xmas eve and leaving the day after- seems brutally short for what feels like such a long drive- but I'm sure they are excited to spend DD's first Christmas with her.
DD turns 1 on the 27th (all less than a week left of having an under 1 year old). I need to clean my house, order cakes, balloons, food, and set up everything. I'm simultaneously super stressed and so relaxed about the whole thing. I think I basically just gave up on throwing a big party- and have adopted a "who cares" attitude about it. I'm sure I'm gonna be a hot mess next week.
GTKY: What names do your parents or in-laws go by/want to go by? I.e. grandma or nana?
Both my parents and ILs wanted to be called Grandma and Grandpa, but my MIL has switched to calling herself Grammy. My FIL hates it and yells at her that she can't use grammy- but it's her name not his. My FIL irritates me more than he should so I am taking to calling her Grammy too.

How big is baby this week? Any fun comparisons?
•16 weeks 6 days. Size of a dill pickle and a few random other things.
How are you feeling? Physically or emotionally?
• feeling pretty good these days with the exception of the pain I have in my tailbone if I stand for way to long. It’s annoying. I’ve had it ever since I rowed in college.
What are you looking forward to this week? Dreading?
•Dreading Christmas with my inlaws. My MIL is the worlds worst human (if you knew her you’d think the same thing) so spending days with her make it very very hard to enjoy anything.
GTKY: What names do your parents or in-laws go by/want to go by? I.e. grandma or nana?
•both sets of grandparents go by grandma and grandpa.
16 weeks. An avocado, an action figure, a Philippine tarsier. My scan on Monday weighed the baby on track at 4oz but the apps say 2.5oz. I guess in reality it's not a huge difference but it sounds it.
How are you feeling? Physically or emotionally?
Same with the headaches. Mine are usually before I go to sleep though. Otherwise I'm great. I feel bigger but just bloated feels rather than preggo feels.
What are you looking forward to this week? Dreading?
My parents are driving down from Canada tomorrow to spend Christmas with us so I'm super exctied about that. And our house is mostly furnished now, whereas last time they came at Easter we had just moved in and we were sleeping on the floor and eating on the couch. My dad is going to take pictures for our announcement which I wanted to involve my dog in but I've been trying to practice with her and she's not cooperating/sitting still. Dreading making Christmas dinner... it's my first time and while I'm only cooking for 7 it's still a lot and I'm kind of hoping my mom just takes over. I don't even have my meat yet or know what we're making
GTKY: What names do your parents or in-laws go by/want to go by? I.e. grandma or nana?
My mom is in between Nanna, which is what I call her mom, or Grandma, but my MIL is Grandma to her Grandson so I don't think she wants to be the same. I don't know if my dad has decided between Grandpa or Granddad. FIL will be Pop Pop.
How big is baby this week? Any fun comparisons? 17wks Pomegranate or chipmunk
How are you feeling? Physically or emotionally?
Physically, good. Just my usual weird taste issues. Emotionally, great
What are you looking forward to this week? Dreading?
Looking forward to Christmas in general. Not looking forward to busy and running around all the days FOR Christmas
GTKY: What names do your parents or in-laws go by/want to go by? I.e. grandma or nana?
we weren't either sides first grandkids so names were already 'picked'. My parents are just gramma and pap/pappy. Mil is gawma or gawm (nephew couldn't say grandma so how he said it just stuck) and fil is pap

How are you feeling? Physically or emotionally?
Feeling good overall. A little drained from chasing a toddler all the time in addition to working full time, but it's making this pregnancy go by much quicker.
What are you looking forward to this week? Dreading?
looking forward to DD seeing all her gifts and seeing what santa brought her. Dreading spending Christmas with my very dramatic sister and even more dramatic grandmother without a glass of wine to help tolerate it...
GTKY: What names do your parents or in-laws go by/want to go by? I.e. grandma or nana?
they all go by grandma and grandpa. We let them choose with DD and they all went the same route.
How are you feeling? Physically or emotionally? Just still mostly tired. I do get more energy on days where I drink a cup of coffee but don't want to overdo it.
What are you looking forward to this week? Dreading? DH &I have off all next week which is awesome! We have a quick OB appt and will do our registry, so excited for that. Not looking forward to Christmas at my mom's. She's a functioning alcoholic on the downward spiral that's been getting harder and harder to even be around. I suggest she has started to abuse prescription drugs alongside, and we've had many falling outs over this. Plus, she doesn't seem thrilled about having a grandson and has started mentioning over and over that I must try for a girl. Come on woman, I'm pregnant with first not even half way there.... Let's do one at a time and be grateful for him and his health!
GTKY: What names do your parents or in-laws go by/want to go by? I.e. grandma or nana?
My mom goes by nana, my grandma went by nana. Now, to my nana's great grandchildren she is known as GGNana. Great grandpa was umpee.
How are you feeling? Physically or emotionally? I feel pretty good. Boobs still hurt a bit, especially when I sleep (+1 for a stubborn stomach sleeper). Work is pretty hectic during the holidays, so I'm a little wiped. Looking forward to the quiet days of January, plus finding out the gender Jan 2nd!
What are you looking forward to this week? Dreading? I work thru Christmas eve, but miraculously got the 25th off. DH and I are planning on going to see star wars and cooking a small Christmas dinner for two. I'm actually looking forward to a quiet day with just the two of us.
GTKY: What names do your parents or in-laws go by/want to go by? I.e. grandma or nana? I think my parents will stick to the traditional grandma and grandpa. I know my MIL wants to go with nona and I have no idea about my FIL. Probably grandpa as well.
Married August 2015
DS born 5/23/2018
TTC #2 July 2020
My parents go by Granna (my mother, her first name is Anna) and my dad and stepmom go by Grandpa and Grandma. DH's mom was named by my oldest when she was around 1.. And she calls her Other Momo (pronounced Mah-Mah).
Thinking of you all and hoping for happy weeks to come.
