1. How far along are you/how big is baby? 23 weeks tomorrow. Size of a cob of corn or a coconut; both of which seem very different from each other. 2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? Baby girl is kicking away! DH can feel her at night. 3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? I planned an epic trip to SE Asia with some girlfriends this summer and DH and I decided that we'd start trying as soon as I got back.
1. How far along are you/how big is baby? 25 weeks! All my apps say different things. One says a cabbage and one says a cauliflower lol
2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? Have started feeling some real kicks in the last little while. Having an anterior placenta means I didn’t feel anything really until recently. It calms my anxiety a lot to feel him move every day ❤️

Current joys/excitements/celebrations? I'm getting really excited about putting the nursery together now that I have made some furniture purchases! 3. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it? Being ready to TTC was really more about logistics for my husband and I. We have moved states twice over the past 3 years for his job (and because we didn't like living in Southern Florida). So that meant I also changed my job twice. After moving to Texas last October, 2016 we knew we intended to stay so it was really about just waiting for me to be at my job long enough that I knew I would qualify for FMLA. If it wasn't for all the moving I think we would have started trying a few months earlier. It also took us 4 months to get pregnant so there's that. In general I knew I was ready once my husband and I got married.
@vintageandrea90 My heart goes out to you and any women dealing with IF. I totally agree with your statement that every negative month feels like a lifetime. Even though it's not the same thing at all... I'm the only person in my group of friends that took longer then their first try to get pregnant. OR they weren't even trying and it was an "oopsies". Even though it only took me 4 months it was seriously agonizing and I did ALL the things to make it happen. I think I had added frustration about the fact I had to wait for my work situation to figure itself out before we started TTC in the first place. So for me in my mind it felt like I had been waiting forever!
1. I’m 24 weeks and baby is the size of a cantaloupe!
2. I’m excited about a lot of things! We just bought some furniture and I am looking forward to setting up the nursery, and we signed up for a hypnobirthing class that I’m excited to start in January. I will also be starting a new job in January which is awkward timing, but I am really excited about the job and will be able to take 12 weeks maternity leave (although it will be unpaid).
3. I’m mostly just excited but when I stop to think about it or at night when I’m trying to sleep I do start feeling anxious. I just have no idea how to take care of a baby/raise a child, but everybody says the instinct will kick in once he’s here. Hopefully that is true, and of course I can always do research and seek advice when I need it. I’m also nervous about balancing a full time job and life as a new Mom.
4. I had baby fever as soon as I got married about a year and a half ago, and my husband definitely would have been on board with trying right away. However, I needed to finish my year-long predoctoral internship and my dissertation and we wanted to settle down and buy a home after that. I also thought it would be a good idea to have some time just the two of us as a married couple since we would never have that again after becoming parents until the kids are grown. So we started trying about a year after we got married.
1. How far along are you/how big is baby? 24 weeks the size if a cantaloupe
2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? We are currently remodeling a nook in our bedroom for baby. My boyfriend is doing an amazing job. So proud of him.
3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? I agree with all of the previously mentioned worries. All the ways life will change, the tremendous responsibility, labor, bringing baby home, failing as a mother etc. If it is a possibility I have probably worried about it.
4. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it? This baby was a surprise so there was no decision moment. We've been together for almost 11 years and he was desperately ready for children but I always found a reason to wait. I'm not sure I would have ever decided to voluntarily make the leap into motherhood. So I think everything worked out the way it was supposed to. My words to live by these last few months have been. God knew what I needed before I did.
1. How far along are you/how big is baby? 22 weeks today.. Baby is the size of a coconut.
2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? My DH and I started our registry last week. It was fun (and slightly stressful) deciding on what items to buy. We were there for 2+ hours and still hardly made a dent. As we were leaving BRU, I was talking to my DH about the fact that none of this stuff actually matters.. rather it's the way we parent and take care of our child together. I think that gave me a better perspective on feeling prepared for baby because I certainly feel like there's so much more to do.
3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? I think being a FTM I just don't know what's normal with my body and baby. Having spent some time in nursing rotations at pediatric hospitals and the NICU, I think it's my assumption that something may happen to our baby, but in reality.. most babies and moms are totally fine after the birth process. I am just trying to remind myself to trust in what's going on because ultimately, I can't control much (which is slightly terrifying when I think about it too much ).
4. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it? My DH and I wanted to wait until after I finished school to start TTC, but obviously things turned out differently. I'm grateful for that because I do better just being "thrown into" something rather than the idea of planning for something. I was really nervous about getting pregnant due to some health conditions. Right when I got my BFP, I freaked out for about 30 minutes and then I was so excited and felt strangely ready.
1. How far along are you/how big is baby? 22 weeks last Friday, baby is a coconut
2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? It's been a rough few weeks, but this weekend, my husband felt the baby move for the first time and the look on his face just made my week.
3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? Right now, I'm most concerned with getting logistics ironed out, including our January-February travel schedules and figuring out just how long I can take off work. I just want to quit my job but that's not an economic reality right now.
4. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it? For the first year or two of marriage, we actually kind of felt like we wouldn't have kids. And then we just got into an ambivalent stage and lost a little bit track of time. There was no single moment for me other than starting to spend a lot of time with my mom. She and I are so close but in that moment, I realized I wanted a similar bond with my own child. So we sort of made our way slowly to TTC.
1. How far along are you/how big is baby? 24 weeks, size of a cantaloupe 2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? Putting the nursery together. We cleaned out our "office" this weekend and are slowly turning it into a nursery. We put the crib together, hung curtains, and moved the rocker in. 3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? I always thought that I would feel like a ticking time bomb my whole pregnancy, nervous for the delivery (I don't do well with pain and I'm a worrier), but I've been so busy and miserable that it hasn't left me much time to even think about the delivery. I also purposely don't look up articles or read threads on here that have to do with that. Closer to time I'll want to be prepared and I'll read everything I can, but right now it's out of sight out of mind. It is going to be hard to change from just being the two of us (with a spoiled dog) to a family of 3. Ask me this question in a week and I'll probably be freaking out about this. 4. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it? We knew we wanted to be done paying off student loans (wahoo!). We weren't even sure we were ready to TTC, but we decided to "see how it goes." For the last couple years, we've really gone back and forth about whether we wanted kids or not, but now I can't imagine it turning out any other way. We're scared, but excited to go through this together.
24 weeks ! Cantaloupe. Looks like there's a lot of 24 weekers here- hello!
2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? baby's been kicking all over the place but today I actually saw movement which was awesome ! Also got engaged recently...been a big year.
3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? not so much. I think because it's my first and I found out pretty late I don't really know what to freak out about haha. I think because I've been in academia so long I'm treating it like any due date- put it off and stress the two weeks before it's due. I've been super chill since I've been pregnant -way more than usual- which has been a pleasant surprise.
4. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it? Never. I figured I'd have a baby during the last year of my PhD or afterwards (in 5 to 7 years). Turns out getting it out of the way might actually be better- if I wanted to plan a baby with my schedule, I never would have planned a baby .
1. How far along are you/how big is baby? 25 weeks, size of a cauliflower
2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? Being able to share little ones kicks with friends and family this week has been fun. And just christmas get togethers.
3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? Currently freaking out about everything haha. I'm so excited but still worried about all the details. And the delivery!
4. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it? Nope! I hadnt had periods in a while due to low body weight so I was in the process of trying to get back to a healthy weight to see if I would start ovulating/having periods again. My boyfriend and I had one oopsie night and ended up pregnant. But we are both stoked now and I think i might never have been really ready if it hadnt happened this way!
1. How far along are you/how big is baby? 23weeks; the ambiguous coconut
2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? That my husband is finally starting to come around. When I first found out I was pg, he was kind of in freak out mode automatically considering finances. Then there was no excitement from him. He'd say whats the big deal. Tons of people have babies. Now I see him starting to prepare for it more. I think he's nesting lol. He made a to-do list for himself that I found yesterday and at the very bottom he wrote "April 16 - Have Saylor". I cried and cried reading that lol.
3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? Just whether or not I'm prepared. I've made schedules for things to do before the baby gets here...meal prep, deep cleaning...etc. but I am starting to freak out about after. I feel like I need to start a schedule and list for things like how often to give baths, nail trimmings, things for MH to do/help with. I think its more overwhelming the things I don't know yet.
4. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it? I've been ready for sooo long, but have patiently waited on DH to come around to the idea. He wanted to be financially set and honestly would have waited til we were millionaires before he'd feel ready. He waited 7 years alone just to ask me to marry him. It was hard watching all my friends and younger sisters get pregnant and me having to be patient. When my youngest sister, who is 12 years younger, announced she was expecting, I broke down. I was happy for her, but this news came after my other sister announced she was also pregnant, which left all 3 of my sisters having babies in the same year as well as two of my sister-in-laws. DH and I were the most financially and relationship-wise stable out of all of them and I was having to wait for DH to feel we were ready. I had the talk with him again and he asked if we could put it off another year. I said no. He asked if we could wait til our investment property we just purchased had a little bit to settle in. I agreed to that. I had a D&C July 7 to remove some polyps in my uterus. This reset my cycle and while we weren't trying, we weren't preventing either and surprisingly got pg before I even had one full cycle after the surgery.
1. How far along are you/how big is baby? I am 22 weeks and the baby is the size of a coconut 2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? I am starting to feel and see my little boy kick!! 3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? I am freaking out with just about everything. Labor and delivery, getting an epidural, getting everything set up in time, how I handle everything afterwards. I’m one big mess! 4. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it? My SO and I always said if it happens, it happens. So, this little bundle of joy wasn’t exactly planned but when we found out we weren’t upset whatsoever and especially since it’s a boy, the hubs is super excited!

1. How far along are you/how big is baby? 21 weeks and 4 days.. baby is the size of a bok choy
2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? The BF and I have all of next week off and we are going to start putting the nursery together
3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? basically everything. The responsibility of a new life, how can I handle being a career woman and a mom. Daycare and the financial piece of that. And also realizing these last few months are the last as just the two of us
4. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it?
we didn’t plan this baby he was certainly a surprise for us (I was on birth control). We had just bought our house but my BF has wanted kids for a long time but also is very slow to make decisions sothat if we planned we probably never would have been ready. This baby was certainly meant to be. He is also so excited to have a little boy of his own
@JJMNO1616 the sizing is definitely off from all the apps. I get some different with each one...
@priestess619 congrats on all the new exciting things in your life!!!
2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? I'm more tech savvy than my mom, so she asked me to get my baby shower invitations printed, which is fun! My birthday was last week, so I got to go out with friends to see the new Star Wars and have dinner at my favorite restaurant, which was great.
3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? I'm worried about general logistics after the baby arrives - Everytime the house gets messy, or I don't do the dishes, or I'm too tired to cook, I think to myself - "What am I thinking? How am I going to do this with a baby to take care of too?"
4. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it? MH sounds a lot like @scuba_chic 's. I've been ready for a long, long time, but he wasn't. He doesn't do change well (he took 10 years to ask me to marry him), and wanted to feel ready and be more financially stable. I had always said that I wanted to start having kids before I was 30, so a year and a half ago when I had the yearly check in conversation with him, to my surprise, he said yes, he was ready! *TW* Two MCs and 11 months later, we managed to get a sticky baby, and here we are. */TW* We didn't meet the age 30 deadline, but I'm just happy to be here.

1. How far along are you/how big is baby? 25 weeks today; cauliflower 2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? I'm just trying to be in the moment and appreciate all my body is doing on it's own. It's truly amazing! I love that the uterus is the most powerful muscle humans have; I feel like Wonder Woman. 3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? I feel like we should be farther along it our planning and prepping... we haven't looked into day cares, set up the nursery, etc. I hope the new year will kick us into high gear.
4. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it? we waited until we had our own house, and then we found out my MIL had cancer and I was like this is it; we should try now. And it happened quite quickly.
1. How far along are you/how big is baby? 26+2 today; kale according to TB which I think is a super odd choice.
2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations? My growing bump makes me super happy. I mean it definitely is starting to get in the way (bending down to put boots on isn’t fun anymore and I’m constantly getting stuck in the couch lol) but I am really enjoying being prego right now, which I know makes me lucky! The alien-like baby movements are starting (more rolling than kicking) which are super weird but also awesome.
3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now? I wouldn’t say freaking out, just a little anxious. We still have a ton to do for the nursery (installing laminate floors and painting in January and I just want it DONE) and I’m getting nervous about getting everything finished. We are planning to do maternity photos indoors since it’ll be winter in New England so we need the room to be done by like mid-February. Also stressing about things like daycare and how I’m going to keep the house relatively clean and running while taking care of a baby. And really staying in the mindset of the fact that neither my DH or myself really know wtf we’re doing, so I need to not be a controlling crazy person when baby gets here and make him feel like I’m judging or breathing down his neck all the time.
4. GTKY: Was there a moment you knew you were ready to TTC? If so, what was it? We started talking last year about maybe starting to try in the spring of this year but it seemed like such a far off thing that we weren’t super serious about it, and it sounded like DH wanted to wait until a little later in the year to start. One night in late May I think we were watching a movie or some show or something about a baby and when it ended my DH turned to me on the couch and was like... let’s do this thing. It was a super cute/ slightly scary conversation but we decided we were ready! Took us 2 cycles, which was a shock since my cycles are suuuuper long and irregular (like 45-60 days) but I had been charting with FAM for over a year so I think that helped us. We thought it’d take a year to get pregnant but we were thrilled (and totally scared) with the surprise.
Re: FTM Check In
23 weeks tomorrow.

2. Current joys/excitements/celebrations?
I'm getting really excited about putting the nursery together now that I have made some furniture purchases!
3. Are you currently freaking out about anything right now?
I'm pretty terrified in general about the thought of having a baby especially because it's just my husband and I here in Texas. The delivery part scares me to think about, the bringing baby home part, the breast feeding part, the daycare part lol... I'm basically a ball of nerves about everything.

24 weeks, size of a cantaloupe
Looking forward to more of these checkins!
I am 22 weeks and the baby is the size of a coconut

@afmom96 also freaking out about all those things
@annabanana051416 I feel the same exact nerves it’s a constant thought
