We were calling baby Poppy, but ever since finding out the sex with the harmony test we've switched to her name Amélie. And this last week a nickname came in to existence while Christmas shopping: Améllamalie (it all started because of an UGLY Christmas sweater with a llama). I love it and can't stop calling her that now and she's probably stuck for life with it.
We have been calling LO Lil' Thing. Affectionate, I know. As far as actual nick names, I am partial to names that cannot be shortened. For example, if you named your kid Katherine and always call her Katie, why not just name her Katie.
But I'm sure once Lil' Thing is here they will have a lot of random fun nicknames given the extent of nicknames that I have for our dog and cat. Growing up my sister (the oldest) was Biggin', my brother was Buddy and I was Squirt.

@krashke Those are the types of nicknames I'm talking about I love the silly names! My boys Brendan and Nikolai are Brendanator and Nikosaurus Rex for example >.>
DD is nicknamed Carter Bean - when she was in the infant room, the lead teacher came up with it and it just kinda stuck. Come to find out later, DH's late brother's nickname was "Bean/Beanie" so now it has so much more meaning.
We haven't nicknamed this LO yet. I'm not feeling super attached to it yet, and nothing seems to stick. Maybe when we find out the sex.
I do have a nickname question though - Is there a nick name for Kennedy?
Me: 28 | Husband: 39 Married March 2016 DD: born 7.22.16 DS EDD: 6.23.18
I feel so bad that we've just been calling this one "baby 2." So lame!!
No decisions yet on actual name, but I'm sure this kid will have 800 weird nicknames. I was worried my son would never learn his actual name because we call him so much random stuff: meatball, mutton chop, lil' mackerel, etc. I had to force myself to start saying "Max" more regularly.

@sunshineandwhiskey . Carter and Kennedy- very presidential names. We have a Reagan and didn't want to do a name theme so there are a few names we crossed off the list including Kennedy.
With DD my PGAL brain had me calling her fetus since around 9 weeks- but that was shortened to Fe... and when we got pregnant again with this LO "fe" made a reappearance too. Now that we know it's a boy, we often say little boy instead of fe.
We called her Mogwai before we knew she was a she. Now she's Evelyn, and we call her Evelyn exclusively because it feels wrong to give her a nickname without knowing her personality lol. But DH is hopeful that Eve or Eva will stick, while I'm over here rooting for Eleven.
We refer to the baby as Baby LastName on fb, Little Shrimp when it's just us {7 week ultrasound it looked like a shrimp lmao} and Baby Kitten when with friends.
I think it may change once we know gender ... but probably not by much
I don't think we're really nickname people. DS was always/is buddy or bubs if not his full name. his name can't be shortened, well I guess it can but eh.
this baby has just been just that.. little baby, baby or little boy. if we're talking to DS, its baby bruvver. cause its how he says it.

No nicknames for this one yet, I've just been calling them the baby. Maybe it'll change once I find out if we're having a boy or girl. We had DD's name picked out since before we knew she was a girl and while I was pregnant we just called her Evelyn. Then after she was born my husband called her Evels one day and it just stuck, everyone calls her that now. It's funny because that nickname never even crossed my mind while I was pregnant, and now it just fits her.
DD1, Scarlet doesnt' have any nicknames and I'm totally fine with that. Nothing has stuck. We have pretty much landed on Amelia for this little one and while I don't plan to implement a nick name I can see one developing from DD1 trying to say her name. I can see it becoming "Mela" or "Mia". We'll see.

I know! That is my only hesitation. Esp since DH was a history teacher haha

@kmurdock925 that's how one of my sisters got her nick name "Ya." Her name is Briana, but our baby brother could never say it so he called her "Ya." So everyone started calling her "Ya." He's 16 years younger than me, so by the time he was talking I was already away at college so there was no need for him to make up a name for me.
AFM I'm calling him "Tre" because he's the third (III). My husband has no middle name and his first name is already short (4 letters) so there's no abbreviation to use.
We’ve always only referred to this LO as baby or little guy. (We don’t 100% know the sex yet, the tech just guessed boy at our NT scan at 14w.)
I started calling DD “Bug” after she was born, so that’s still her nickname. She gets “mama” a lot too but that’s just a hispanic thing and is super common.
DS’s nickname is Auggie or Aug becaue that’s what DD calls him.
Or I lovingly refer to him/her as my little parasite when I'm feeling particularly drained (as I did with my first). All in good fun...don't hate me (I need the monkey covering eyes emoji!)
DS is Benjamin, but we had a hard time settling on it because our last name starts with an O and I didn't want him to get picked on for the initials B.O. So we picked a middle name starting with an O so his initials are BOO (I know this doesn't really solve the B.O. thing but for some reason it made it okay, and cute, in my head). So he's our little baby boo, booboo, bubba, benji. I think he responds more to booboo than his actual name.
We've called DS Bean since he was a little bean on the ultrasound, but he's got a gazillion affectionate little names - I call him Flower (think Bambi), Catywampus, Buddyroe, and The Sweetness just to name a few. We've been affectionately calling this one Bean² from the very beginning. If she's a girl, her name will be Lola. If he's a boy, we're still working on a name.

Our two have classical, long names so both have nicknames- Maggie and Alex. I guess I have a theme going so the next one will have a long classical name with a nickname. If it's a girl, we're doing Charlotte with Charlie as a nickname. If it's a boy I have no idea...
The nicknames I gave during pregnancy with my first two never stuck after they were born (we didn't decide on names until they were born). DS1 was "Oscar" - a name suggested by my SIL that was not my style at all. Once born we never really referred to him as Oscar again. We were Team Green for DS2 so the nickname was "Sybil" as in Sibling. Again, the name disappeared once he was born. So far this one (DS#3) has been called "Trey" since he's the third child and also "Smalls" when pregnancy was feeling rough (You're killing me, Smalls!)
First Son - born 2013
Second Son - born 2014 - Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) and Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV). First open heart surgery at 5 days old. He's had 3 open heart surgeries and several other procedures and is currently doing amazing. Third Son - due June 9, 2018
No names for #3 yet, but once we had our anatomy scan, we called DS Chuck Steak until we picked a name out (three weeks before he was born.) I still occasionally refer to him as Chuck Steak or Buddy Boy. His name is Jonathan, and that is what we call him. DD is Pheebs.
Caleb - didn't have a nickname at all when he was younger, but now at 12, he gets called Cal more and more often. Shelby - daddy calls her "Shelb". Big brother has called her "Shelburrito" since her swaddling days. This pregnancy - "Newbaby" is used most often, but once we have our anatomy scan, we'll switch to Logan or Emma.
Our last one was "Thunderbolt Jackson" in utero. TBJ for short. She is also known as Toots Magoots, Budda, but doesn't have a shortened version of her name just yet.
Number 2 is either Sprout, or Project X at the moment...
Mama to a wonderful DD - Sep 2015, Wife to my DH since 2011, 2 dogs, a cat, and hoping to add No. 2 in May/June 2018. Canadian. 5 - IUIs, 3 - IVF retrievals, 2- failed transfers (fresh, and frozen), PGS on second IVF resulted in 1 perfect emby, and DD. 3rd IVF w PGS resulted in 3! perfect embys. 1st transfer - Sep 2017 2 more on ice.
Just after I got my BFP, I was texting my husband possible baby names. I was texting him Minka and it autocorrected to ninja. So now we call her Ninja. And my husband has said I can nam her whatever I want any because he is going to call her Ninja no matter what.
I feel so bad that we've just been calling this one "baby 2." So lame!!
We are in the same boat! We had all kinds of cute nicknames for DD. This poor kid is just Kid 2 or Baby. My poor DH also hasn’t been to an ultrasound bc he has to pick up our daughter from daycare whenever I’ve been able to get an appt. He’s able to come to my 16 week, so it’ll be more real after that, maybe. But man, it’s different with the second!
DD (now 2) was Little Bug, which turned into Bugaboo, and now we still call her Boo Boo. And pregnant me might have called a student that once or twice.
Both of ours have social media hashtags, Littlehoot and this one is littlesqueak. We do not call them that in real life. Our son gets called Macadoodle a lot, and it’s longer than his actual name. We find out gender this weekend, our girl name can really only go one way for a nickname but our boy can go many.
