GTKY - Holiday Treats

Hey!  I've been MIA for awhile, but wanted to jump back in.  I know a lot of people bake during the holidays, so I'm curious what your traditions are!

What is your go to treat to bake at the holidays?

What is something you eat or drink during this time that you don't at any other time of the year?

What is your favorite holiday treat?

  • What is your go to treat to bake at the holidays?
I'm not the best at baking but I make mint chocolate chip cookies and they are really yummy!

What is something you eat or drink during this time that you don't at any other time of the year?
eggnog... It's not my favorite, but I always have at least one glass a year.

What is your favorite holiday treat?
ALL the cookies!  A friend of mine has a cookie swap every year and I look forward to getting everyone's holiday treats! :)

  • What is your go to treat to bake at the holidays? Cookies- sugar, shortbread, gingerbread. I make my grandmother's pistachio coffee cake for Christmas Day breakfast and cinnamon rolls.

What is something you eat or drink during this time that you don't at any other time of the year?
I love egg nog, I know a lot of people don't.

What is your favorite holiday treat?
All of them? I have a major sweet tooth.
  • I love gingerbread!

  • We got a gingerbread house to make with DS this year, SO broke it and DS now tells me daddy is a bad guy because he broke his "christmas cake".
So i think gingerbread houses will now forever be called christmas cakes at our house.
  • @bwow615, LOL "daddy is a bad guy" and "Christmas cake"!  That's so cute!

  • We usually make sugar cookies and decorate gingerbread houses at some point, and on Christmas morning we make Monkey Bread for breakfast.
  • I'm gluten free so I don't bake a whole lot. I'll probably bake a preboxed mix. My mil actually make us 2 batches of homemade gluten free cookies, so I'm set!

I love egg nog this time of year with a dash of nutmeg on top. So good!
  • I love baking! I always make several pies for Christmas Day (this year will be two apple and chocolate cream).

I also bake cookies. I actually (with the help of my sister) baked 5 types of cookies tonight! Chocolate peanut butter oatmeal, cannoli cookies, coconut cloud cookies, raspberry bars, and a chocolate bark with pretzels and caramel!
  • I love non traditional cookies. Super easy is great at this point. My 2 and 4 year olds want to help. We made the corn flake marshmallow wreaths and sugar cookies. Planning to make buckeyes! Love all sweets this time of year.

  • What is your go to treat to bake at the holidays?

i don’t get too fancy. I like good ole chocolate chip cookies, and peanut butter cookies with dark chocolate... my husband saw a recipe for red velvet cookies he conveniently let out on the table so... I guess I’ll try those haha...

What is something you eat or drink during this time that you don't at any other time of the year?

My mom bakes A LOT for the holidays. Probably why I don’t do a lot!! She makes Oreo balls that I have during the holidays. Normally we don’t eat Oreos at all and stick to mostly natural foods so... that’s out the window for the holidays with family... DH’s sister makes the best puppy chow and I can’t wait for that this year! I have been craving it..

What is your favorite holiday treat?

im usually not much of a sweet person, other than ice cream. But being pregnant, I’m craving the puppy chow and apple pie!
  • What is your go to treat to bake at the holidays?
White trash (more commonly known as muddy buddies), peanut butter drops (basically peanut butter no bake cookies with corn flakes instead of oatmeal), and peanut butter cookies with kisses ontop, and applesauce cake.

What is something you eat or drink during this time that you don't at any other time of the year?
Applesauce cake (it's basically a spice cake made with applesauce)

What is your favorite holiday treat?
Just about anything sweet and my aunt's cheese log. YUM!

  • We usually make sugar cookies and decorate gingerbread houses at some point, and on Christmas morning we make Monkey Bread for breakfast.
  • Tried the red velvet crackle cookies my husband wanted tonight... so good! And it’s something my mom doesn’t do, so I don’t repeat! Win!
  • What is your go to treat to bake at the holidays? I like to make sugar cookies and gingerbread men.  We also make Hasty Hots as an appetizer, which are so terrible for you. Mayo, parmesean cheese and green onion broiled on top of French bread slices.

What is something you eat or drink during this time that you don't at any other time of the year? Normally, specialty cocktails.  Obviously not so much this year.

What is your favorite holiday treat? Probably fudge and peppermint bark.
  • I love baking and decorating sugar cookies! It’s a tradition with my mom and me. They made them today without me and it broke my heart.
