Re: TTGP Grad Check-in (week of 12/14)

  • How far along are you? 14 wks

How are you feeling? Good aside from this cold I’m battling. Sneezing and coughing is less than enjoyable.

Any appointments? Need to schedule my next one. Anatomy scan on 1/25

Anything you're looking forward to or dreading this week? Looking forward to a long weekend of family and celebrating! Freaking five whole days of work before then.

What do you have planned for the holidays? We live in MN and all our family all lives in WI so we will be driving about 14 hours in three days. Fun.

GTKY: Who is your least favorite actor/actress? Why? I don’t really care about actors/actresses either way so I don’t have any favorites or least favorites.

  • @krashke there’s no actors or actresses you just can’t stand in movies? (I meant in movies/tv, not related to IRL lol)

    I’m 16+1

feeling great other than this gross chest cold. Feeling the first signs of movement! Which is fun but causing DH to be wiiiildly jealous because he can’t feel them yet.

    Anatomy scan on 1/5

just hanging at my moms this week. Postponed seeing my dad until later this week since I’m sick. We announced on social media Friday with a Star Wars thing (DH is obsessed with Star Wars, and my mom worked on the movies etc so it fits well).

No specific holiday plans but I am going to have a glass of sparkling wine on NYE. I am v much looking forward to this.

I irrationally hate Ben Stiller. It’s like I’m allergic to him. Can’t stand any movie he’s in. DH feels this way about Mark Ruffalo and Justin Long (which I find strange because I feel like the worst you could say about them is they’re bland).

  • *passing through*

@doxiemoxie212 Ben Stiller would have been my choice too.  I cannot stand any movie with him in it.  I used to be the same with Steve Carell until I watched the Office and actually missed him when he left the show.  Also, I find it really interesting about your mom working on the Star Wars movies (currently watching The Force Awakens in preparation for going to see the next one).
  • *passing through too*

@doxiemoxie212- I'm team no way, no how Will Farrell  :s
  • @stephcat421 oh yea, I don’t love will Farrell. Not fully allergic, but perhaps I have a... sensitivity ;) lol
  • @krashke feel better!

@catlady1215 my right hip started hurting during my pregnancy with DS.  I went to physical therapy earlier this year after being diagnosed with hip bursitis.  The PT helped, but the pain is back again (I've also been slacking on my exercises).  Have you asked your doctor about it?

@doxiemoxie212 Stiller and Ruffalo don't bother me.  But for the life of me, I can't think of any movie with Justin Long. Is he that boring?

How far along are you? 16+3

How are you feeling? So much better these days. Still tired, but not nauseated anymore.  My hip pain has come back too and I think I'm coming down with a cold.

Any appointments? The fetal survey is January 5. I had my 16 week appointment last week.I found out I have an anterior placenta after not finding the HB so I'm disappointed that movement will be delayed.  I'm hoping I can still feel things because that was my favorite part of pregnancy with DS.

Anything you're looking forward to or dreading this week? Work is crazy busy.  Our holiday part is Wednesday at a sushi restaurant. My office (only 10 people) are huge drinkers so I'm nervous about keeping the pregnancy a secret from my partners. I'm waiting for my review (likely also this week) because I don't want the pregnancy to impact any decisions that they are making.  So it's going to be a stressful week.

What do you have planned for the holidays?  My ILs and sister/BIL are coming for Christmas. We are telling my ILs about the baby on Saturday!

GTKY: Who is your least favorite actor/actress? Why? Elizabeth Moss annoys me.  I loved Handmaid's Tale, but she just bothers me.
  • @doxiemoxie212 yeah I can't think of a single person that I don't like in movies/TV. I'm trying really hard to and I typically really dislike people lol but mainly just stupid people who don't know how to drive or who walk to slow in the middle of the walkway.

@catlady1215 water has been giving me a bad after taste lately

@marcus7676 double whammy with the sushi restaurant and a group of drinkers! GL!

  • @marcus7676 what kind of pain is it? I find it so hard to explain... its not a shooting pain. but I really think its IN my joint. started with my right with DS. it'd come out of nowhere and I'd be stuck in a position (walking or sitting) till it faded. which made me laugh, which made it hurt more cause I was laughing/jiggling. I figured a pinched nerve when things were shifting? nonpregnant, it would only pop up if I was sitting/laying in a position on the floor to long etc. I told dh, after this pregnancy, I was xrays or something.
for your placenta, they couldn't find the heartbeat at 16 wks even with it being anterior? how long does it usually take to get with a Doppler then?
My dr did find mine easily at 13+6, so I want to hope this elective ultrasound tech was wrong yesterday about mine.. but I'm sure she's well trained.

@krashke yah! water has started again recently also.. unless its super cold. but just about every other drink gives it to me worse, so I'm just stuck with the super cold water.

  • @catlady1215 placentas also shift/grow throughout pregnancy so it was much smaller at 13+6, and may not have been fully anterior, and it also may not remain anterior.
  • @marcus7676 FX for your review. Hopefully good news and that it happens before the holiday party, so you'll feel less pressure.

@doxiemoxie212 I hope you start feeling better soon. That's a crap way to start a trip home - sorry. I'll be joining you with a glass of champs on NYE and I am really looking forward to a fancy glass of red on Christmas eve.

@catlady1215 I've started getting regular headaches too. Mine always come in the evneing after work - so not sure if pregnancy related or new job stress related...

@krashke Hope you start feeling better soon, too. GL with your road trip. I'm a terrible road tripper - I'm too impatient.

How far along are you? 13+2

How are you feeling? Pretty good. I've been able to stay up later, like until 10 pm - wow! I haven't had much of an appetite in the evenings still, so trying to eat more during the day. At my last OB appointment they said I'd lost 10 lbs. Which, normally, I'd be pumped, but I guess not so great when growing two fetuses. Lol!

Any appointments? I've pushed all my appointments to January, when I'll have insurance again. I had my first (while pregnant) anaphylactic reaction to tree nuts last week, though, so I'm super paranoid. Thusly, I'm going to a private US place to get a look at them before I go home for xmas.

Anything you're looking forward to or dreading this week? I just started this job, but I'm really looking forward to my two day work week. We're also telling husband's family Wednesday night and my family when we get to Missouri sometime on Thursday. So that's exciting/scary.

What do you have planned for the holidays? We go visit my family every other year for xmas, so this is our year to go to the midwest. My family is a big wine drinking family, so it will be very strange to be sober around them. Lol!

GTKY: Who is your least favorite actor/actress? Why? I feel like there are so many right now with all the sexual harassment/assault claims coming out. It is just so disappointing. I also have a hard time separating scientoligist actors/actresses from the roles they play, so I generally avoid their shows/movies. The scientology thing is the main reason I can't watch Handmaid's Tale, so I'll second Elizabeth Moss.
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Oh man guys I can’t stand Elizabeth Moss in interviews but I love her in tv/movies. Y’all crazy.
  • @LaceyBee522 yeah I was going to say the only actors/actresses I don't like are because of their politics and I will not go see a movie or watch a show because of it. I don't want to give them any of my money or attention.

  • DH won’t go see a Ben/casey affleck or matt Damon movie (or obv Harvey Weinstein, etc). Which I understand, but at the same time, I feel like shady sexual harassment/assault in Hollywood is so prevalent that pretty soon as more info comes out we’re going to have to go through a phase where we can’t see any movies until they start getting made by less shady people.
  • @catlady1215 My doctor found the HB easily at 12 weeks with the dopplar, but tried for five minutes at 16 weeks with no luck.  The baby was fine on the U/S and we could see the heart flickering.

The pain is below my right hip, on the outside of my leg.  There is some special name for the type of bursitis I have.  It aches all the time, but hurts when I lay on either side or lay with my leg in a funny position. The snapping hip is interior and it feels like there is something snapping / popping when I walk.  When I saw my doctor, ortho and the PT, they all said it was from sitting all day and not stretching.  Since it started in pregnancy, I think the additional weight caused my hip to get out of alignment or something.  I would definitely go see the doctor.

@doxiemoxie212 I asked my doctor if my placenta would shift and she said for the most part no. It might move up or down a bit as I get bigger, but it's going to remain anterior.

@LaceyBee522 what's the deal with scientology and handmaid's tale?!

  • @marcus7676 oh interesting, I mean, I expect it would remain mostly anterior, but I thought things weren't more 100% until 20 weeks. I am a clueless FTM with google, though lol.
  • @marcus7676 Elizabeth Moss is a scientologist
  • @doxiemoxie212 re Elizabeth Moss - - makes sense. re the placenta - - I think they can move, just not much.  I know that another woman in my prior BMB had placenta previa and that her placenta moved enough by deliver that she was still able to deliver vaginally. I just don't think it will end up posterior.

  • @marcus7676 oh totally, but I thought anterior meant like fully in front, posterior fully in back. There are other positions right? I don't know the official terms, but like, on the side, or on the top, or in between?
  • @laceybee522 I bet its a good combo of both! hope you find some relief. I had one this weekend that would not go away, so I put alittle peppermint oil on my temples. it did work for a bit.. although dh said I smelled like a candycane lol. but its worth a shot!

@marcus7676 oh man, glad you said that then! annnd I'm glad I had that elective yesterday. if I would have gone in on wed and she couldn't get the HB, I would have cried instantly.
ohh ok, so your pain is on the outside of your leg. I feel mine in the back.. but inside. and I really don't think its sciatic pain.

  • @doxiemoxie212 there are four typical positions - anterior, posterial, fundal (top), and bottom.  But, I think it can be partially on the top and front (I doubt the placenta follows strict rules!).  I'm guessing our 20 week ultrasounds will provide more clarity, but they will still follow the same general locations even if it isn't fully anterior.

  • @LaceyBee522 I hear you on finally being able to stay up until 10~ and it feels like midnight  :D

How far along are you? 14 weeks

How are you feeling? Pretty good, less nauseated, unless I smell something terrible. The RLP is getting worse at night when I turn over.

Any appointments? Not until Jan 10

Anything you're looking forward to or dreading this week?
This is the busiest week if the year for us. DS birthday is Thursday, he'll be 3, DH' birthday is Saturday and then Christmas Monday. We had DS' party last weekend and it was so cute.

What do you have planned for the holidays?
Christmas morning at home with the family and then dinner with my sister's family and Mom.

GTKY: Who is your least favorite actor/actress? Why?
Hmm I can't think of anyone either...
