TTC After a Loss

Update: Life After Ashermans *TW*

It's been a while and while it saddens me to see so many familiar names/faces still here, I am glad that so many people have moved on and are doing well! (@justsuzie @SP128 @NewMommyCoop to name just a few!)

I've been mentally grappling with what to do next given my history (in signature). I started counseling in October, which has been helpful and probably gave me the strength to go with DH to see two fertility doctors in November at two different practices to get an idea of what our next step should be. We decided tentatively to start pursuing medication (Letrozole) to increase the number of follicles I produce at the start of my next cycle, in December or January. We figured we would try the medicated route, maybe IUI, but then ultimately take the plunge into IVF if needed. (Just thinking about that put a huge weight on both of us financially.) I also finally found both of these doctors willing to prescribe me the medication that is supposed to be used with Asherman's patients (Trental), but my regular OB didn't feel comfortable with. These doctors also informed me that my regular OBs had been measuring my lining wrong and majorly overestimating it. This led to more anxiety and stress since now I am facing the fact that my lining is probably no more than 5-6mm at O, but my previous OBs had been telling me it's fine at 8-9mm. And here I thought my frustration with the incompetence of the medical profession couldn't get any worse...

Since those appointments, DH and I have been busy with work and the holidays, I have been skipping acupuncture, and I even took a trip to visit friends that I haven't seen in years. We've been mostly taking a mental break as we prepare for the next steps. We've been trudging along and yesterday, for no reason whatsoever, except for maybe my breasts were feeling heavier and more sore than they usually do after O, I took a HPT. It looked negative, so I walked away. I came back a little while later and saw a faint line. DH confirmed and another brand of test also showed a faint line. Neither of us felt like celebrating given what we've been through (as I am sure most of you understand). We don't know whether it is ectopic since I have scarring in my uterus, or whether anything will come of it (but it would be so nice if we didn't have to go down the path we had planned out). I want to know that the embryo implanted in an appropriate place more than anything but only time will tell. And we're going to take this one day at a time.

Happy Holidays to all...
and may 2018 be better than 2017!

  • *lurking* it's been a hard road for sure- I'm glad you found a better doctor. And congrats about your faint line- how ever faint it is, it's still a BFP! I hope you'll join over at the grad board!

  • How far along are you? I'm glad you have found some doctors to help you out.

we are doing this cycle and next naturally and then taking the re plunge. I'm thinking femara only since we have no diagnosis.

  • @weareturtles it’s nice to hear from you and see that you have a plan.  Hopefully with this positive you won’t need that plan.  Since you have consulted with an RE they should take you in for early testing.  I had a consult with one and a week later had a positive and they took me in for early testing.  It however ended very quickly afterwards.   We did several medicated cycles after that loss with IUI and again got pregnant in December but I just had d & c this past Tuesday.   I’m not sure we will continue...at 42 and 3 losses we may hang it up.  I’m hoping to get some answers from testing tissue and myself since I had two blood clots and then will decide.  Keep us posted.  I hope all goes well and you have healthy pregnancy
  • I'm pretty new and don't know your whole story but it sounds like you've been through a lot, I'm sorry for that. I hope that you have a happy and healthy and easy 9 months ahead of you!

FX so hard for you. You have had such a rough road.   I totally understand about having trouble being excited.  I still feel that way unfortunately.  I'll be following your story and praying for you along the way.
  • jchpg - Thanks! I am not sure how soon I will jump over to the grad board, but it seems like we would be in the same BMB if all pans out!

@vlagrl29 - Last AF was 11/18, so pretty early on (~4w).

@Mack2342 - it kills me to hear this happened again for you. That rollercoaster is a brutal and I don't wish it on anyone. Please take some time to heal for sure. No matter what you decide to do, my thoughts will be with you.

@justsuzie - I am so excited for you and have my FX so hard for you too!

  • @weareturtles I can only imagine the anxiety you are feeling right now. It is so hard to get excited about a BFP after losses. I am praying that everything will work out and this will be your rainbow. I am sure you are not feeling ready to join the Grad board yet, but whenever you are ready, PM me and I will send you an invite. Sending all the positive thoughts your way.

@weareturtles I know there are lots of variables and you're nervous, but congrats! Today you are pregnant! I hope you're on your way to your rainbow baby.
@Mack2342 Man, I am so frustrated for you and so sad to hear that! My thoughts are with you.

It's funny how it's the little things in life that mean the most...not where you live, or what you drive, or the price tag on your clothes... There's no dollar sign on a piece of mind, this I've come to know! *ZBB*

  • @weareturtles that is such good news!   I hope this is your rainbow baby.   You have been through so much.  Take it one day at a time and remember today you are pregnant!   Congrats!!!
  • UPDATE:
I started spotting red on 12/26, had an ultrasound on 12/27, which showed sac in uterus (yay, not ectopic!) But then I also spotted after a hike on 12/30 dark brown.
I went in for follow up scan on 1/5 and saw one sac, one heartbeat, measuring appropriately.
Though we are no where near being in the clear, I feel like I may be ready to move to PGAL as I feel like I could use the support of those ladies.

Thank you to everyone here for the support over the years. I truly hope all of your journeys are successful!

@weareturtles That is great news. I was hoping to see an update from you. PM me if you want an invite to the TTCAL Grad board. It is private and there are a lot of "faces" that you will find familiar. It has really helped me with my PGAL brain.

    Edited to fix wrong word.
