WTF! So my partner at work is retiring, last day is Monday.....it was very short notice and it seems to be very poor planning on her end as she has to be out of her house by Wednesday and is moving across the country. She was complaining all day yesterday about how she hasn't had any time to pack, and how busy things are tomorrow (now today) at work, etc. and she CALLED IN. Today we have to move our entire clinic from the 1st to the 2nd floor, we are double booked in clinic because we were both going to be here, and now I'm flying solo. The pregnant, crabby, barfing lady is by herself I am so irritated! GAHHHH!!!! WTF is this BS?!
My WTF is my mom. She has it in her head that I have had the most difficult pregnancyof all time. Right, sure, I didn't have even a moment of nausea, but I was a little tired so yes, definitely the most difficult of all time. And I keep pointing out to her that I have actually had a really, really easy go with this pregnancy so far, and I can't really complain, but then she'll say things like, "Well, even just last week you wouldn't have been able to walk to (insert restaurant 15 min walk away from my apt)." I point out that I have walked to the Whole Foods next to that restaurant at least once a week since I became pregnant, and she's like, "Oh, I thought you couldn't." Like, why wouldn't I have been able to? Why does this woman think I'm bedridden? I just don't understand why if I say, "Oh I'm a little tired today," or "Oh, I have a bit of a headache today," that means I'm KNOCKING AT DEATH'S DOOR?! Like, non-pregnant women get tired and get headaches. It's fine. It's just driving me nuts. So I tell her that she's being a loon, and she goes, "Oh, Doxiemoxie, you're so harsh." Sure. Okay. *eye roll*
She also keeps trying to lure me to this one particular baby store she likes near her (we live in NYC, she lives outside San Francisco) when we come visit, but I have already been, and I have told her 1) I don't want to buy anything yet in case we move, and 2) I don't want to buy anything and then ship it to NYC wtf? She just gets so effing sad. And it's like woman, if you really want to drop a bunch of money on this baby, I'm not going to stop you, but you have to wait like, a few months. Is that such a big effing deal??
She complains that she thinks I'm harsh and scary -- which I think is dumb AF -- but thank god honestly. God knows what nonsense she'd be up to if she wasn't irrationally terrified of upsetting me.
@doxiemoxie212 I think the weirdest parts of our moms come out during our pregnancies. My mother fusses over every little thing. If I yawn in front of her while I’m pregnant she suggests I should go lay down for a bit. So annoying. I think it’s some kind of mom instinct. I will never forget when they walked into the hospital room for the first time after DD was born- Dad went straight for the baby, Mom went straight for me.
@doxiemoxie212 my goal as a mother is to not be as exhausting as my mother. Solidarity friend. Sorry your mom is being so dramatic. Mine’s already driving me crazy too and she’s a state away in Florida.
@bearmoons that is a big giant BS WTF! Sounds like a really freaking hard day for you! I'm so sorry your co-worker left you high and dry! That would piss me off to no end!
@doxiemoxie212 I feel like you could actually write a novel about your mom from this post. It could be a hysterical book about the realities of pregnancy and the perception others put on you. Thankfully my mom kind of functions in her own little world and my MIL occasionally sends me "how are you feeling texts"....but other than that, I don't have the crazy mom or MIL.
I can actually say that my brain is so foggy from this pregnancy that I can't think of a WTF....maybe this pregnancy brain fog is my WTF?
@doxiemoxie212 my mom is the exact opposite. I've been having a terrible time this pregnancy, and she brushes it off like I'm being dramatic. Drives me nuts! Why can't moms just listen to us??
My wtf goes to my gag reflex. It's so sensitive that anytime I cough or blow my nose, I end up gagging and sometimes puking. I've got a cold, so that's basically all the time. I can't wait to see the Dr on Friday so I can ask for something to help
@bearmoons that's so frustrating. I can understand your pain being in healthcare myself. SOMEONE HAS to take care of the patients. It can't wait until tomorrow. Someone calling off or not pulling their weight can really ruin a day for you, for the patients, for everyone. Very selfish on her part. Luckily your patients have you. Hope it's your least gaggy day yet to try and make up for some of the isht storm that today may be.

My mom finds balance most of the time. Concerned, listens, but not overbearing. Except in the snow haha "wear your boots today!" "Make sure you hold onto the railing!" "Don't fall!" She means well though.
My WTF goes to myself. I am telling my boss today and am nervous. She's a very self centered person and doesn't understand the desire for kids just yet. She will be fake and smile for me but then will probably think or say other things when I turn my back. So WTF, if I know she is like this, what difference does it make what she says to me. Just grow a pair and tell her. Im frustrated in how worked up I let myself get over people whose opinions don't really matter.
@May14th2011 My mum brushes things off too. She had great health when pregnant with me and I keep telling her that I was having a rough time {nausea, exhaustion, headache for a long while, ligament pain, acne, etc} and she's like "oh i'm sure it's fine" Yeh .... like it could be 100% worse but don't brush off my feelings of 'this is rough' just because 'it could be worse'
My wtf is going to my sinus cold. You really can't take shit when pregnant! My husband gave me a cold, and he keeps reminding me I cannot divorce him because he got me sick. I ask if I can divorce him for being a damn mouth breather at night. In my face.
I do have saline spray now and I'm gonna pick up Vicks to do a steam inhale tonight. It's just making me so tired. Like first trimester tired lol
@May14th2011 I'm having the same exact problem with my gag reflex it's awful! and my wtf also goes to my sinuses which are draining down the back of my throat making that gag reflex awesome...ugh
WTF dishwasher. Why did you break and leak water all over my kitchen floor. Now I have to hand wash and you know washing dishes is my least favorite chore. I thought we were friends.
WTF to a local pizza place. I called to order dinner and ordered a small sub. Their reply, “Sorry we only have large subs tonight.” What?! I could understand if they said they only had smalls because they ran out of large bread, but you just cut a few inches off of the large bread to make it a small - this isn’t rocket science people! First world problems, I know.
@May14th2011 ugh, I feel ya! I had a cold over a month ago, and still have this lingering cough that doesn’t go away. Every time I cough, I end up dry gagging or puking and I’m so over this!
Honestly, I wish my mom was that super overbearing mom. She’s the type to never ask how I’m doing, or when my next appt is. I can’t seem to be able to complain about anything without her saying “well, yeah.. you’re pregnant *eye roll*” her world revolves around my sister, so whatevs.
@Miz_Liz good WTactualF IMHO. The first two episodes I was like well this is kind of weird but it's part of the quirk/charm. Then there is a dream sequence in the 3rd episode that was WTactualF said out loud and MH was like "what are you watching!?!" but it is good so I will continue to watch.
