For those with EDD's 6/22-6/30...

How are things going? Any fun plans for the weekend? Anything you're looking forward to? Anything you're dreading?

Re: DD Check-In - Fourth Week (12/7)

  • Things are going good over here.
Still getting MS, it's coming and going, and is worse some days than others, but definitely better than it used to be.
I'm planning on going to a bag sale at a local consignment shop on Saturday ($10 to fill a garbage bag!), and I'm hoping I can score some mat clothes, but I'd settle for any clothes that would work for anyone in the house at this point!
I'm establishing with a new office/provider for OB care on Monday, so I'm really looking forward to that.

  • Hi all! I fell off the posting wagon around Thanksgiving but have been lurking a bit. Ready to get back into the swing of things because we're SO CLOSE TO 2ND TRI. (Well, a couple weeks for me yet, but it feels much closer than it has.)

@izza2 I've never heard of a bag sale but it sounds awesome! My first thought was "purses!!??!" but maternity clothes would be just as exciting. Hope the MS continues to trend down.

I'm doing fine -- have my second appointment with the OB later this morning. I'm hoping for confirmation that everything is still on track since I'm pretty symptomless other than my weight gain (which is admittedly probably more the holiday 5-10 and less the baby...whoops). I've also got a podcast on non-invasive testing all queued up since it's decision time on that front. We're hosting a holiday party this weekend and, if all goes well today, I'm comfortable telling everyone who comes that I'm pregnant but still not looking forward to the not drinking. I see the night ending with everyone in a bar and me in the kitchen cleaning up :( but it'll still be good to see folks.

Is everyone starting to finish up work for the year, either in actual days you have to go in or in terns of stuff that needs to be accomplished? Hope so!
  • @emiliadkay - Lol, well, if it's anything like the last bag sale I went to, they may have purses available to snag! Usually it's just clothes, but the last one I went to also had some shoes, jackets, and purses that you could grab.
I'm hoping it's too cold for people to go out, so I don't have to deal with psycho people. :grimace:

    GL at your appt!

  • Things are chugging along here.  We are getting ready to paint our bedroom for our furniture delivery Saturday.  I am so excited to sleep in a King Sized bed *drools*

Feeling pretty good MS wise.  I caught another cold though.  Does anyone know if we can take Mucinex (just the normal kind?) I know i could BFing, but I can't remember if its safe for pregnancy.

I have two appointments next week too!  Normal OB Monday, NT scan Tuesday.  FX everything is okay!

@izza2 that bag sale sounds amazing!  I love consignment shops.  There is a big kid one twice a year here and I got DD a winter coat for $5 :)
@emiliadkay GL today! And i hope you have fun at your holiday party!  Hopefully you'll find you can have just as much fun and don't end up cleaning in the kitchen ;)

  • @izza2 Good luck at the new ob office. I hope you find the care you deserve! I also love consignment shopping. Kids shoes are my jam there. I got DS a pair of barely worn high top chuck taylors for $3.99!

@emiliadkay GL at you appt. I work in the operating room of a large hopsital, and work is picking up not slowing down. So many people try to get their surgery done in Dec before the go back to $0 on their deductible in Jan. Same thing every year, it's crazy!

AFM, things are good. Had my first ob appt for this pregnancy yesterday. TW-had a blighted ovum/mmc in Sept 17-end TW and they were glad to see me back so soon. She wanted a repeat u/s today, scheduled at 3pm. I know it's routine, but I still am having a little anxiety about it. Since everything happened last time, nothing feel routine anymore. I was so blissfully ignorant with DS. I miss that.

  • @izza2 Hope you get some great stuff at the bag sale. I feel like consignment is really hit and miss for me...but I like the idea of filling a bag for a set price so even if you don't *love* it, shove it in the bag :)

@sunshineandwhiskey oooh, you're going to love the king size bed! I never really wanted one, but we inherited a king bedframe, so we upgraded. Now when we sleep in a queen it feels so tiny (and we slept in a full our first 2 years living together!)...haha

Good luck with all your upcoming appointments/ultrasounds everyone! I don't have another appointment until 1/4. I'm  (not so patiently) waiting for my NIPT results...it's been 8 days so hopefully I'll hear soon :)

This weekend, I'm running a 5k with Girls on the Run (a running program for elementary and middle school girls). I volunteered to be a running buddy, so I'm paired up to run with and encourage a young girl. I'm really excited about it, but my "training" has been less than stellar the last few weeks. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal, I'll just go slow and walk if I need. But to be a buddy, you tell them your pace and they pair you accordingly. The director told me my buddy has a "moderate" pace...I'm like, uh can you clarify moderate...? lol...So I hope I can keep up with this girl and am not the worst buddy ever, "just go ahead honey...I'll see you at the end" :p  Wish me luck!
  • @sunshineandwhiskey Mucinex is on my safe list from my doctor. Hope you feel better soon!

I'm feeling good this week but TIRED. I've been sleeping in pretty late which is new for me this pregnancy because before I couldn't sleep past 7:30. This week I feel tired most of the afternoon too.

This weekend we are meeting up with a bunch of college friends in another city for a football tailgate/weekend of shenanigans. I'm excited to tell everyone about the pregnancy but like @emiliadkay not excited to be the only sober one in the bunch. At least there will be food there though

  • @sunshineandwhiskey @izza2 Best of luck at Monday's appointments! Just around the corner now.

@courtyowl427 Amazing! I had the same experience with the baby squirming all over the place, and like you am finally starting to feel like I can be more excited than cautious about this pregnancy. (Don't get me wrong, I've been both since we found out and will remain that way the whole way through, but the balance is a little happier now :) )

@elsie42 Let's eat all the food. Think of all the beer calories we're missing out on!

@katelynrae86 What a cool organization! GL on the run; you can do anything for 30 minutes and so often the atmosphere of a race like that lifts you through it.

My 2nd OB appointment went well with not much to report -- we just used the portable US machine in the room and, as mentioned above, baby was all over the place so we laymen couldn't get a good look, but it was good to confirm s/he's still in there and healthy. We're now waiting to see if we can schedule an NT scan for late next week (we're out of the country for almost the exact 2-week window that they like to do it so hopefully they have availability the day we need it) and, if not, will likely do the NIPT draw instead. I think my husband is secretly hoping we end up with the NIPT just so he can find out boy/girl, which I guess I can't fault him for. We'll see!
  • I’ve been feeling seriously crappy lately. Puking almost every afternoon and so freaking tired. Not fun.

Today I did some more Christmas shopping and I’m going out to dinner tonight to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Tomorrow we have DD’s riding lesson in the morning and DH and my step dad are going to pick up leaves. My life is very exciting.

  • Due June 27 (my bday!) Feeling generally okay, but nausea is actually going really strong this week - week 9 til now have been the worst, go figure. Had a random dizzy spell the other day that freaked me out as well. I'm doing a bit better with energy (not napping during each toddler nap, which is an improvement!) I'm starting to feel more excitement and less trepidation as we get closer to the 2nd tri, but it also still feels totally surreal and kind of fake to me, if that makes sense. I think part of it is just keeping up with my son (2 in late January) which means really no time to dwell on life and what it all means (ha), and trying to hide my bump from clients (which is getting harder and harder to do!) Ready to have the secret be out there in the world!
  • Hola! I haven't been on much in the past few weeks, I always do a social media fast after Thanksgiving and I spend time with family and friends. I've been doing a lot of fun activities with my daughter. I'm still not very active on FB but I missed this board so here  I am!

Pretty excited to be past 12 weeks! Still experiencing some anxiety but not so much. Really excited to do our big Christmas announcement to family! I'm starting to have similar cravings as my first pregnancy, namely eggs and steak/chicken. My bloodwork results came back and my iron levels were JUST below normal so we will see what my doctor has to say about it at my next appointment. She usually calls and has me come in sooner if something looks really concerning so I'm not too worried.

All my Christmas shopping is DONE and I only have a few left to wrap so now I can focus on doing fun stuff with my husband and kid. Love the holidays!

  • @sunshineandwhiskey We upgraded from a full to a king right before our first was born. Best decision EVER. Especially since my kid would NOT sleep if she wasn't right next to me. Could not have co slept in a full! Enjoy the extra space, and let us know how the appointments went!

@juneandboo I thought I was done with nausea and then a good wave hit me yesterday. You are not alone. Thank God the exhaustion is easing up though!

@emiliadkay Glad your appointment went well!

  • @oneblessedmess isn't the king bed the best?! Almost two years in, my sole complaint is that DH has gotten waayyy too used to the extra space and now, when we sleep in a queen or full, he practically pushes me off the bed. Still, I will never go back.
  • @emiliadkay - I'm dying laughing over here, because we have that same issue too! We had a cali king for 3 years, and we've had a regular king for the past 2 years, and we both couldn't live with a smaller bed. So when we go to a hotel and they only offer a full or a queen (and sometimes I swear their kings are really queens), I have a little piece of the edge because H is sooo used to having a huge bed.
We also toss and turn a lot, so we eventually end up shoving each other off the bed, and then get angry at each other for taking up too much space.

  • For those with king beds particularly @izza2 with the cal king, do you recommend any mattresses? We have a cheap cheap queen that we got probably 5 years ago. I desperately want a new mattress and MH being 6’5” would like a cal king. I don’t want to go crazy but form what I have read mattresses are one thing that are worth spending the extra cash on.

We got a Tempurpedic with an adjustable base two years ago and it's been glorious.
We both tend to have back pain if we sleep flat, so we raise the head and feet just a bit, and it takes it away. And if we want to sit up in bed and watch tv, we can sit it up and still be relaxed against the mattress itself.
And on occasion we use it to facilitate sex positions if needed.

We also opted for the cooling cover for the summer time (wicks away moisture and keeps you cool), and we got a heated cover for Christmas for the winter time. It's comfortable no matter what!

There was some promotion when we did it so we got two sets of sheets and two Tempurpedic pillows for free with the purchase of the adjustable base, and the pillows have worked out great for us too. Two years in, and the most we have to do is flip them over every once in a while . They're still fluffy and comfortable, and we no longer have to use 2-3 pillows to get the same result.

  • Bumping this -- new one wasn't started, and this one's still pretty short.

    How are you ladies doing?
Anything fun going on this weekend/coming week?
Soon we'll all be in the second trimester! Anyone else feeling like this is starting to get "more real"?

  • @izza2 haha i was wondering why there was a new post on this thread.

things will be getting really REAL when i get my Harmony results next week. well they said it would take a week which sounds insanely fast so now i'm wondering if we will know before Christmas.
  • @glitterfingers I got mine back in 6 business days, so there's hope!

As for me, so far so good. Harmony results were all good and we found out it's a girl!  My boys were so excited and now they're talking about all the things they're going to teach her- like how to play minecraft. It's so damn cute!

My round ligament pain is really ramping up and I had my first instance of lightning crotch yesterday,  I forgot how *lovely* that feeling is  :|

Last night was my company gala and it was a lot of fun and I felt no guilt taking an extra serving of crème brûlée for dessert!

Things are going good right now. I was pretty constipated a few days ago (ugh lol) but that finally passed (literally). I'm starting to get super excited and antsy to find out the baby's gender even though it's still over a month away and I haven't even made the appointment yet lol.

This weekend has been lazy, mostly just watching movies and football.

I know everyone seems to have a different answer for this but when do you consider yourself in the 2nd trimester? I'll be 13 weeks on Tuesday and I'm wondering if it's not until the end of that week or the start of it?

  • @fitzandgiggles +1 to the lightning crotch! I didn't get that until much later my last pregnancy ugh.

@elsie42 I'm 13 weeks today and I'll consider myself in the 2nd trimester at the end of this week. But "technically" it's like in between 13-14 weeks so say whatever you want! Ha

This weekend has been ROUGH. My daughter has been up the last two nights puking and I'm just exhausted. Also I feel like there's no end in sight to my constant nausea  :(
  • @glitterfingers FX for your Harmony results!
@fitzandgiggles Congrats on the girl!  Your sons sound absolutely adorable too <3
@elsie42 movies and football is where its at right now!  I consider myself in second tri at the start of 14.  I have this little graphic that i use and follow, esp with months.
@lrichhx05 ugh i'm so sorry to hear DD is puking.  Is she feeling any better?  We dealt with this two weeks ago, and we found out it was Strep :(

AFM - Definitely starting to feel real.  We announced publicly and I plan on telling my students this week (I told their parents today).  Fell off last week, and went MIA.  I have trouble processing "big moments" sometimes and I often just walk away from things for some time.  I'm slightly overwhelmed, and just anxious.  Sorry for the ramble haha

  • Things are good here. I haven’t been on a lot for the past week, and i don’t know why. I don’t know if I’m feeling holiday depression or I’m just exhausted, but I just don’t feel myself.

I havent thrown up in three days, which I hopefully a sign that MS is over.

DDs third birthday was yesterday, so she had a blast celebrating with her friends at a bounce house place.

  • @sunshineandwhiskey today has been better! She's still not completely back to normal, but she hasn't thrown up in over 24 hours so at least that part is over. Strep would be awful!!
  • @elsie42 I had an appointment today and my doctor asked if I was happy to be out of 2nd tri (13w3d today) so I'm choosing to believe her and say I'm in 2nd tri lol.

@lrichhx05 Glad your DD is feeling better!

@fitzandgiggles Glad your results came back good and yay for a baby girl!

@katykat03 I'm right there with you with the MS. Fingers crossed we are DONE with that mess!

My weekend was chill, we celebrated my nephew's third birthday at my BIL's house. It was very low key, just the family. My daughter had a blast with her cousins. Today I had a doctor's appointment and we got to hear baby's heartbeat for the first time which was awesome. And we made the appointment for our anatomy scan on January 30. Seems far but at the same time so close, time is definitely going by faster with  this pregnancy than my first one!
