This is a place for those of us who have already started TTC but have started infertility testing and/or treatments. You can express your thoughts, feelings, and frustrations on infertility. TTC can be a long journey naturally, then add in the difficulties associated with infertility and it becomes a whole new ball game. The road to infertility can be lonely, frustrating, and complicated, so let's make this a place where we can vent, ask questions, and support one another. Feel free to resurrect this thread at any point in the week if you have something to say. Treat this like an ongoing conversation.

Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI and septate uterus

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Just waiting
How are things going? UGH I’m on CD 34!! My last two cycles have been 35 days! I dont know if it’s the stress waiting for IVF to finally start or what but I’m so annoyed with how unpredictable my cycles have been.
Any questions? Not today
GTKY: Tell us about one of the craziest things you've done.
Craziest thing I’ve ever done hmmmmm so many... one thing that pops into my head is quitting my job when i was 19, hopping in my 1998 VW Cabrio convertible and touring with Phish for the summer. Had like zero money I sold PB&J sandwiches and homemade clothes to make money. Crashed at random friends houses, camped under the stars and on a good night we’d stay in a cheap motel. Probably the funniest 3 months of my life!
Diagnosis (If you've been): DOR
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO though probably should be TTA after the hysteroscopy and Saline sono today
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?)
Just sitting waiting to be released after hysteroscopy and Saline sono. All clear which is great. So means we can have “fun with purpose” in between IVF treatment.
How are things going?
Pleased with today’s results but overall frustrated. Friday we had our WTF appointment and will do a third IVF cycle with this practice (in January) but protocol options are very limited and in order to try a larger number of banking cycles and maybe PGS testing we are starting to look for clinics who can offer this and who are excited to try and solve the mystery of DOR patients like me.
Any questions? Clinic recommendations??? Banking, back to back cycles, used to traveling patients and flexibility with protocols more important than location. We’ll be totally OOP.
GTKY: Tell us about one of the craziest things you've done.
Ok last time someone asked this in the dailies I was one of the first to answer and definitely ended up looking a bit crazy ;-) I flew from Beijing to San Francisco just for the engagement party of a good friend - and flew out back to Beijing less than 24 hours after landing...!
If anyone else is short on crazy things I can lend you some ;-)

Fav Quote: The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return
@ndz2018 That 3 months sounds like a dream! I had a girlfriend from Rhode Island that loved Phish! Hope AF comes soon and you can get this show on the road!
@emmasemm I know that a few women here have traveled to different clinics. Maybe one of them has some recommendations.
Diagnosis (If you've been): PCOM, high prolactin, high AMH, Fragile X Carrier
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Cabergoline, Femara and TI.
How are things going? I am either 13 or 10 DPO, and I tested this morning. Of course BFN. Once AF shows, it'll be one last cycle of Femara, and then we will start a new game plan.
Any questions?
GTKY: I am drawing a blank. I'll have to come back to this one..
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI, RPL
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WFAF/WFIVF/TWW
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Just waiting for my next cycle. One more cycle before IVF.
How are things going? Fine, just waiting, I guess. I had a bit of a panic because We've had to dip into our IVF fund a few times. I got pretty bad pneumonia last month and had to dip into saving to pay for the chest xray. And then I needed new tires this weekend and holy shit, tires are expensive. So I panicked a bit thinking we wouldn't have any money. We ended up asking the IL for a bit of money. I don't *think* we need it, but it's an extra 1K that will give a us a bit of breathing room. I was really unhappy to ask, but it will help. I'm pretty bummed, otherwise, because we think driving to the clinic might be a better idea than flying. Our clinic is 18.5 hours away, so flying would be preferred, but I don't see how flying with an already tight budget is feasible. With the short notice before ER, then aiming for fresh transfer, it's so unstable.
Any questions?
GTKY: Tell us about one of the craziest things you've done. I'm not much of a crazy person...

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) It's almost here! My FET is on Friday!
How are things going? I'm really excited now that the new week is here. It seems like it's taken forever to get here at times, but I'm really hopeful. Yesterday DH and I had a really sweet date day filled with motorcycle riding, alone time, and sushi. (I've gotta get my fix of all that stuff now!) He's really excited/hopeful, too.
Any questions? Any suggestions for funny shows/movies to watch before and after the FET? I have a short list going, but I'll always take more suggestions.
GTKY: Tell us about one of the craziest things you've done. A couple years ago, I decided I wanted to do a cross-country journey--all by myself. I set up a 10,000+ mile road trip over the course of a month to visit friends and see the country. It was amazing. Map is in the spoiler.

@ndz2018 That sounds like a VERY fun 3 months!
@emmasemm I'm sorry you're feeling so frustrated. I'd go with the clinic where you feel most comfortable. I did one IUI with a clinic and I knew that it wasn't the right fit for me, especially if we one day have to go down the IVF road. I chose another clinic that is an hour from me, and am excited to work with them because they just make me feel comfortable.
@redpuma119 I'm sorry for the BFN
@kristokekerooni I'm sorry you had such an expensive month last month. 18 1/2 hours! Man I thought my 1 hour was bad
Diagnosis (If you've been): MFI (0 morph)
Status (WTO/TWW/TTA): WTO
What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Last cycle on our own before starting IUIs again
How are things going? Pretty good - CD 12 here, so entering fertile week. Have been battling stomach flu, AF, then strep the last few weeks - but finally feeling better so ready to do all the sex this week.
Any questions?

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) IVF canceled and turned into TI with 4 giant follicles
How are things going? Guys- my boobs hurt like never before. I am assuming its because I ovulated from 4 follicles and thus I have progesterone from 4 damn follies but DAYUM. My boobs are huge and painful and help.
Also, this is so sad and pathetic, but I actually have hope that maybe this month will work for us. How sad is that?
Any questions? I need someone to tell me how to adult. My H and I have a dog and a cat and a 2000 sq foot house that we own. My current dog is 13 lbs and wonderful. I have always grown up with 3 dogs at a time, and I always imagined having 2 dogs and we are thinking about getting one in the next few months. Is that crazy with IVF going on? I mean, if you think about it, it will be harder after kids to train a dog until the youngest kid is like 4, so unless we did it now, we wouldn't have a second dog for 5+ years. I am so happy now with my dog and cat, but I don't want to, in 2 years, think that another dog would be good and find its too difficult then.
Since I am a veterinarian, all of this is real cheap and easy for me. I never have to worry about boarding, I never have to worry about costs, or training (I can take my dog to work!), so thats good. But, what if my current dog doesn't like it? What if we actually got pregnant next month and are we crazy to have a baby and a 7-10 month old dog?
GTKY: Tell us about one of the craziest things you've done.
Maybe the above
Diagnosis (If you've been): unexplained RPL

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Culture to check to see if I test positive for ureaplasma on Friday. (I tested positive months ago, DH & I took meds, and now we’re seeing if it’s truly ‘gone’) Trying naturally this cycle.

@emmasemm I hope the hysteroscopy and saline sono went well. I don't have clinic suggestions, but I hope you are able to find a place that works well for you.
@Redpuma119 I'm sorry for your BFN. I hope you are able to get a good plan for the upcoming months for the new year.
@KristoKekerooni Oh wow, that's so much to have to deal with all at once. I hope you are feeling better after the pneumonia. I had it once and it was not fun at all! For the IVF, would it be possible for you to fly there and then rent a car back, or vice versa? (If you are a Costco member, they have great rates on rental cars, even for one-way trips.)
@laurad75 I can't wait for your test tomorrow! My refresh button is ready.
@RVAmom315 Oh yeah, all the sex! I'm glad you are feeling better and ready to enjoy yourselves before another IUI.
@kiwi2628 I love animals, so I feel like I'm not going to give practical advice. I find they bring such joy/calm to my life, although I do remember life with little puppies, especially when it came to the lack of sleep. My boobs similarly hurt during the ER cycle when all my follies were growing. I even had to hold them when walking down staircases!
@dpjennifer I hope your ureaplasma test comes back with good news for you.

@laurad75 FX for you!!
@AlohaKumu That trip sounds AWESOME! We did a cross country trip but only one way, I drove My friend out to CA and flew home about 7 years ago.

@KristoKekerooni that's such a tough choice. What are your plans for after retrieval? Are you staying local to the clinic or heading straight back home? I think it would be a good idea to plan to at least fly home. I was in so much pain and so uncomfortable after my retrieval and I can't imagine being stuck in a car for that long.
@laurad75 I am beyond excited for you!
@AlohaKumu what are you into and I will be happy to make suggestions! I'm a big podcast listener and that helped pass the time when I was working or coooking or otherwise not able to distract myself with tv or reading.

@kristokekerooni Pneumonia can be scary. Glad you’re feeling better.
@alohakumu Its finally here! So exciting! Glad that you and H are getting in some fun before.
@laurad75 Eeeekkkk! Have you POAS? So excited!!
@kiwi2628 I think that every month is going to be THE month, so no judgement here. We have, and have always had, 2 dogs. I will never have just 1 dog again. They love on each other and the old dog trains the baby. Our house is only a few hundred square feet more than yours, and honestly, it doesn’t seem cramped. And we have 2 big dogs. I say get another dog. Better to get them trained now before baby, and it will keep you busy. If the dogs go nuts, and you end up with quads, we will come help you!
@dpjennifer Hope the test comes back negative!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) 1000mg Metformin + 50mg Clomid + TI
How are things going? Trying to keep my expectations in check, but damn it's HARD.
Any questions? For those of you that ovulate on your own and took Clomid, did you ovulate earlier on Clomid?
GTKY: Tell us about one of the craziest things you've done. I encouraged DH to quit his job even though he didn't have another one lined up. His job was very stressful and was causing a strain on our relationship. It was a rough year while he looked for a job, but it was definitely worth it.

What are you doing this cycle? : Lots of tests! DH did his SA last week and all his numbers were really low. (Though they also said his sample was a tad too small even though we’d abstained the recommended time, so I don’t know if that affected some of the numbers...) He did some follow up blood work last Thursday and we’re waiting on those results now. My period just started yesterday, so I’m working on getting a vaginal ultrasound and CD3 blood work scheduled ASAP. (So much fun to make these phone calls from work!)
How are things going? : Well, we’re both feeling pretty down and I’m constantly on the verge of tears. But I’m trying to distract myself and stay busy as much as possible since I figure there’s no point obsessing too much until we have all the test results. Our kitchen is now super clean after I threw some nervous energy its way, so that’s something!
Any questions? : Not yet.
Tell us about the craziest thing you’ve ever done. : I’m a pretty cautious person, so I don’t have any really great stories. Maybe deciding to go study abroad for a semester when I’d never been away from home without my parents for longer than two nights? I know, I’m boring!
Diagnosis (If you've been): unexplained

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) Medicated IUI cycle. IUI was this morning.
How are things going? OK, I guess. I was on the same protocol this month as last, but I only had one follie (last month I had two). IUI went fine this morning. Right now I'm just feeling really sad about the whole situation, and I don't have a lot of hope for this cycle.
Any questions? For folks on letrozole/femara, did your doctor up the dose for the next cycle if you only had one follie?
GTKY: Tell us about one of the craziest things you've done. I met a German guy in Spain while I was studying abroad there, hung out for one evening, and then flew to Germany to stay with him for several days. Could have been disastrous, but it was actually a lot of fun.
@ndz2018 Sounds like an amazing summer!
@emmasemm Are you looking for clinics in Europe, or traveling wherever you need to? I see a ton of research on unexplained infertility/DOR coming out of the Netherlands, so I wonder if there might be good clinics there.
@Redpuma119 So sorry about the BFN. *hugs*
@KristoKekerooni That is quite the drive! I know asking for money sucks, but I’m glad you’ll have that extra financial cushion.
@AlohaKumu So excited for your FET! You’ll have to share your movie list when you get it put together. Mascots is really funny, by the way.
@laurad75 Fx for you tomorrow!
@RVAmom315 Sounds like a rough couple of weeks, but I’m glad you’re feeling better!
@kiwi2628 I have zero dog advice to give, but I wanted to say that feeling hope isn’t pathetic. It can be a double-edged sword, but it’s part of what keeps us going! I’m feeling hopeful for you too.
@dpjennifer Fx for good test results!
@50Wife Glad you’re getting close to insurance coverage!
@KariAnn323 It’s amazing how much our jobs affect our relationships! I hope YH is in a job he enjoys now.
@Augusta108 Sorry you’re over here, friend. *hugs* This stuff really sucks to deal with. Can I ask what bw they ended up doing for YH?
@emmasemm glad everything is all clear! I hope you find a clinic that has what you're looking for.
@Redpuma119 sorry for the BFN.
@KristoKekerooni ugh I'm sorry for the money problems. That's great that your in-laws were able to help out.
@AlohaKumu yay FET week!!! And that trip sounds amazing! I've always wanted to drive cross country.
@laurad75 ahhh beta tomorrow!!!! I am so excited for you!!!
@RVAmom315 I hope you feel better soon!
@kiwi2628 I hope this is your month!! And re: new dog *TW* we have two dogs and after DD was born it was so hard to give them the attention they deserve. We love them both but it is definitely harder now than it was before. We always say that we wished we would've stayed with one dog or waited until kids were older before getting them. *End TW*
@dpjennifer hope your test comes back negative!
@50Wife hope you are a SS and can avoid IVF!
@KariAnn323 I O'd a day or two earlier on Clomid I think.
@Augusta108 I'm sorry you're feeling down. I hope your testing goes well!
@darkstar42 I'm sorry you're not feeling hopeful. I hope your IUI works!

What are you doing this cycle? (Testing? Treatment?) pre-IVF testing
How are things going? I had my meeting with the financial counselor this morning and it went really well! We have a little over $23,000 left of our infertility insurance limit and $10,000 for meds so she said it will cover our first IVF cycle plus a few transfers if we need more than one. I also found out that my first year of embryo freezing is covered under insurance and it's only $244 a year after that!! It has been such a rough two years dealing with IF that I was almost crying happy tears to have found this silver lining. Tomorrow is my saline sono then DH just has to get one more SA and we are clear to start IVF as soon as AF shows! I should hopefully get a copy of my protocol this week.
Any questions? So any prescriptions I fill after 12/23 will be billed under January insurance which means I will have to pay the deductible of $1850. If I fill the prescriptions before 12/23 I only have to pay a $125 copay for all of my fertility meds. I should get AF around 12/28 so I'm trying to decide if I should order and pick up my IVF meds before 12/23 so that I don't have to pay the deductible yet, or if I should wait in case I am magically a SS and get KU on our own this cycle. Thoughts?
GTKY: Tell us about one of the craziest things you've done. I once waited about six hours on line in NYC to audition for RENT off-Broadway. A bunch of us started singing "Seasons of Love" while standing in line and the news came over and recorded us.

How are things going? They're ok. Part of me is hopeful for this cycle since I O'd later than last month and I know it's the good side. Part of me is already mentally prepping for next cycle.
Any questions?
GTKY: I visited Madrid alone for a weekend. But I spoke the language so that's not too crazy. Actually, if we're going to talk about crazy I showed up to a boyfriend's house nearly black out drunk in the middle of the night because he pocket dialed me and I could hear a girl giggling in the background. Y'all, to say I caused a scene would be an understatement. Cops were called. It was a shit show. Me and him are actually cool now and laughed about it years later.
@ndz2018 Sorry you're cycles are stretching out. Do you start stimming once AF is here or are you doing IVF in January?
@emmasemm Glad your tests went well! That's so frustrating that your clinic can only do so much. FX it's enough though and you won't need to travel anywhere else!
@Redpuma119 Sorry for the BFN
@kristokekerooni Sorry you've needed to dip into your IVF funds. I hate spending our savings on things it's not intended for. How are you doing with the stress of traveling for IVF? Doing anything just for you?
@alohakumu Yay for FET!! H and I have been enjoying Fresh Off The Boat, although he's their target audience.
@laurad75 So excited for you!!
@RVAmom315 How're you feeling about this cycle?
@kiwi2628 It's not pathetic at all that you're hopeful. I'll be hopeful with you! FX the sore boobs is a good sign! Also, add me to the list of enablers to get another dog. We have one dog, one cat, and live in a 1400sf townhouse and are looking to get another dog as well. For the same reasons as you. We want two but don't want to get one when we have a really little LO. We also want our current dog to help "train" the new one since she's 10 and basically perfect.
@dpjennifer FX for your test this week! Hope it comes back negative for y'all!
@50wife January is so close! Yay for good insurance! Although, I hope you end up not needing to use it
@kariann323 I O'd later on Clomid this month than I had the previous cycle. You should O, on average, seven days after finishing it according to my RE.
@augusta108 *hugs* Sorry about the SA results. Have they talked about doing a repeat?
@darkstar42 Girl, your GTKY answer! Sounds fun but while reading it all I could think about was all the Investigation Discovery shows I've watched and how that sounded like the beginning of an episode.
@shortstack930 That's great news about your coverage!! I know we live in the same state. Do you mind telling me what insurance you have? Ours doesn't cover IVF at all and I can't seem to find a better plan in NC.
@darkstar42 Be kind to yourself. I am so glad you were able to take the day off of work.
@skilledsailor I went to Madrid, alone, for a weekend, too! Except I didn’t speak a lick of the language.
@dpjennifer FX for a negative ureaplasma test
@ndz2018 Remind me- IVF, septum surgery, then FET?
@shortstack930 Horray for the insurance coverage!
@kiwi2628 I, too, am on team get another dog now. I can hear the conversation, “My internet friends told me it would be okay....”. Especially since you’re a vet & have all those other pieces covered, it doesn’t sound too absurd.
@redpuma119 Sorry for the sucky BFN.
@KristoKekerooni That is a whole lot of added extra ‘when it rains it pours.’ Sorry New tires are so freaking ridiculously expensive.
@AlohaKumu Friday is SO close!!!!!!! Yay!
Whew! I tried to get everyone! Sorry if I missed anyone.

@shortstack930 Thank you so much! I'm on H's, the best BCBS plan there is here. We have a bit of IF coverage but no IVF and since I know that's realistically our best shot I've been on the hunt for a better plan. I'll bring this one up with H soon.
@avrilmai We went straight to an RE. If your insurance lets you, that's what I would do.
@KristoKekerooni Totally understandable! I know in times of financial stress it can be hard to find ways to relax. Maybe a bubble bath with some wine/tea?
