Weekend chatter | Dec. 9 & 10

I'm sick (thanks DH) and bored. I've even been cruising the other bump months to see if there is anything good to share, but it's just the same ol' stuff.

What's everyone up to?

Re: Weekend chatter | Dec. 9 & 10

  • Just sitting in bed binge watching CSI on Hulu. DD has her winter semi-formal dance tonight so we'll have to get her ready for that in a few hours.

  • Since it’s “snowing” we couldn’t do what we had planned today since it was outside.  So. Here I sit in the Jeep watching it snow bc I couldn’t take Dave and busters anymore after 2.5 hours. I need a nap.
  • Feel better @ldawngirl781

Ive had a lazy day. DS got a haircut and we are going to dinner tonight with friends. I’ve spent most of the day watching hallmark movies and being emotional. This kid is moving like crazy today, which is nice!
  • Im bored. Dh is golfing. I need to go to school to print a return label, and exchange my moccasins....but feeling unmotivated.
Tomorrow I've got to get the whooping cough shot...fun weekend. :D
  • Fighting a cold (thanks, preschoolers), so have been laying low on the couch today.  It's snowing, and the roads are terrible, so it's not a bad day to be snowed in/stuck at home.  We have a fire going, and are just hanging out.  I really should be writing baby shower thank you notes?
  • Also fighting a cold. Second one since September. Ugh. Going to go out and about today to try and get some from fresh air and exercise
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Back/neck ache with headache. Took Tylenol and am sitting in a recliner with a heating pad... i'm a little worried it will evolve into a migraine. I'very been really lucky to have had almost none this whole pregnancy.

DH gets off in an hour and I am checking out for the night.
  • DH had class today so DD and I did nothing today! But since she woke up from her nap, it’s been back and forth from being fine to having a meltdown. Fun times. Tomorrow will probably be another nothing day. I like these kind of weekends.
  • Spent the day snowed in with no power. It finally came back on and tomorrow we are definitely getting out of the house

  • We have been without internet at my house since Tuesday,  so the kids are watching movies on discs, and annoying each other.

I helped the 7 year old make gingerbread cookies for church tomorrow and rode to Wal-Mart with the 16 year old,  But have been trying to take it easy since I tripped my self 3 times today! Twice almost landing on my belly but catching myself in a pushup and rolling to my side. Apparently i have forgotten how to lift my feet high enough to walk.

I'm super excited though because dh just brought home all the hand me downs people promised us, and I'm thinking About going through them after dinner.

I’m going to jump on the “horribly sick fighting some kind of cold” bandwagon. I have had no voice almost all day  :'( DS was up pretty much all night last night. With me being sick, my husband ended up getting up for good with him around 5am. We should have known that taking him to Breakfast with Santa at his preschool with little to no sleep would be a massive disaster. We were optimistic it’d be okay and boy were we wrong. I don’t know if I’ve ever been so embarrassed or felt like a worse parent in my life. There were so many people there I couldn’t even comfortably wedge the belly around people to chase after him.

We got home and he took a 5 hour nap. Woke up a totally new kid. I’m praying to all the deities he doesn’t wake up tonight. I’m not sure how useful I will be if I am still this sick. I’m also super mean without sleep. Which makes me feel like an even worse mom/human incubator.

The 6 inches of snow we were supposed to get wasn’t really sticking to the ground much so hopefully we don’t wake up to icy gross slush to snow blow in the morning. Fingers crossed. Now I’m just sitting in bed with all the cough drops watching the Bruins game praying they manage not to screw it up haha

...and my son just came out of his room cause he doesn’t want to go to sleep... serenity now...
  • Sick day over here too, though I don’t think I have it other than sniffles. DH has been sick for a few days but it’s finals in his grad program so today was the first day he spent actually resting at home and now DS has also come down with it so I’ve been the nurse today. Not too bad since they slept a lot so I binged on the new season of the Crown and ate cookies. :)

  • Wow! 'Tis the season I guess. What a bunch we are...
  • +1 for being sick.

I still went out to get some holiday and baby shopping done. It’s snowing but not that bad. I gave us a 1 hr limit at Walmart because I usually avoid it at all costs during the holidays. They had these cheap cotton night gowns that button all the way down so I could use it for nursing and not care if it gets gross at the hospital. That made my night. The mall was also not that bad. I think a lot more people shop online these days than I thought.

  • I’m fine...but hubby and both kids are sick. We were supposed to have a date night but cancelled because leaving two cranky toddlers is too much!
  • I tried to remedy the sickness and overall feeling like crap by shopping for the little squish. I’m surprised I was able to restrain myself when I realized Wal-Mart had onesies and sleepers ranging from $3-$5

  • I washed and put away all the hand me down clothes we got.  Then I got super ambitious and ran errands at 4 stores.  Big mistake.  I am now on the couch with the heating pad on my back.
  • Add me to the sick squad. I’ve been feeling like I’ve been getting a cold for the past couple days so haven’t been sleeping well. Today my congestion was pretty bad. So I’ve been a lump on the couch. We were supposed to go to DH’s swanky holiday party tonight (his work pays for a hotel as well) but with feeling so miserable we decided to bail. I really wouldn’t have had the energy to be a good date.

  • Oh my goodness! I hope all you sick mammas get better soon!

Our weekend end pretty much concluded with DH’s holiday party last night (we didn’t get home until 130 AM... yay), and my holiday party tonight. It’s good to see people, but man, so much belly touching. I keep on being told “you’re so small”, but I’ve heard this happens with your first... If there was something wrong my OB would tell me, and I’m measuring right on track...

Since the partying is done, it’s on to laundry! Hope you ladies enjoy your Sunday!
  • With all these colds going around it made me wonder what happens if you have a cold/the flu during labour. Thoughts?!?

  • I had a stomach bug last week and this past week my whole household has had a really bad cold that included a trip to the hospital for DD thanks to croup.

@pandappanderson I’m not sure about going into labour but I had a scheduled csection with DD and was sick with a cold when we booked it about 10 days beforehand. My OB told me if I was still coughing badly the day before we would reschedule for a few days later because coughing fits would hurt the incision. Luckily I ended up being better in time! But I can’t imagine that being sick and in labour would be fun, especially because you need so much energy to get through it.

I keep getting the " you're small"comments too... which I am, she's measured a week & 1/2 behind the whole pregnancy. We have our 30 week US on Tuesday to check for growth. But dr. Isn't worried. because I'm small framed so I don't worry. I'm also just all belly.
Every appointment he says " you're measuring small...but you're small so it's fine".  Our bodies know what it can handle. I still can fit into regular clothes.

Oh man, I'm getting the opposite. I had my first "oh I thought you were closer to your due date" comment from a stranger when she asked when I was due. Granted, I am measuring a little big; my family tends to make big babies (usually around 8-9 pounds and some change).

  • @Chawk17 I’m so jealous you can fit into regular clothes still! The only regular clothes I fit into are pajamas, and I wouldn’t dare going out into public with those...

@gingermama26 Who just assumes things like that and then says them out loud?? Ugh... people. Sorry you had that experience. :(

Ok funny. I can't fit into pajamas. My flannel buttons keep popping open.  :)night time is depressing for me.  we are the opposite!!.
But jeans and shirts still fit.

People are so  rude to pregnant ladies.
  • @jenniferjoy37 yes to all the belly touching and “you’re so small” comments. I think scrubs hid the bump for quite a while. Now that my normal scrub tops are getting a little too short im wearing tshirts to work and people are suddenly all “OMG didnt know you were pregnent?!” My response: “yep. And have been for the past 32 weeks :)

First baby shower is today! Get to see so many extended family members and snow is still covering the ground! Couldnt be happier!
  • @nightnurse92 You’re lucky your scrubs hid yours! I had to go to maternity scrubs because all my regular Koi’s were way too tight! I opted for the maternity shirts instead of scrub maternity tops and my work is pretty flexible with that. That’s too funny how people react! And have fun with your baby shower!! :)

@nightnurse92 have fun at your shower!!!

i got my first rude belly comment the other day at the lab during a blood test. Lady went on about how ‘huge’ I am and must be due any day, and how I ‘must’ be having twins. And when I told her I still had 8 weeks to go with 1 baby she said ‘wow, imagine how big you’re going to be when you’re about to pop if you’re already this huge’

i was so in shock I didn’t know what to say!!! I eventually muttered that I’m short and that it makes my belly look more pronounced and then got the hell out of there as I felt like crying.

@GoogleMD you’re my kinda momma! I’m currently on the couch watching Holiday Baking Championship while DD naps and DH plays video games. I did start some laundry and do some dishes, but that’s all. I should go grocery’s shopping, but who wants to leave their nice, cozy home?!? No me!
  • Getting snowed in with DH, watching football, drinking hot cocoa, he's making cheddar broccoli soup, and I'll be baking brownies later. It's a good Sunday!  :)

    @nightnurse92 enjoy your shower today!!
@GoogleMD sounds like a nice, relaxing Sunday! Enjoy it!
  • Currently being lazy with the slightly sleepy 2 year old... had to go let my sister's dog out and feed her earlier as she has been out of town this weekend then came back home since my mom wanted a lazy day and was told I could come over for a bit if I really wanted to (code for I would rather you didn't come to my house).  Been feeling down ever since so been trying to stay busy and not think about people who don't want to be bothered by me.  Solidly in to watching the clock until DH gets home for some much needed adult interaction.
  • @pandappanderson , ugh, people can be SO rude! I have gotten, "Are you SURE there's only one baby in there?" and it made me so self-conscious. :(  I'm sorry that happened to you.
  • @ahoneycutt12 sorry you're feeling down.
  • I actually have ventured out grocery shopping so I don’t have to do it with DD tomorrow morning. I also feel like I am getting larger by the minute today...ugh!
