@catlady2015 Peanut butter forever!! And jam with chunks is awesome! @SkilledSailor I also have only ever had fake trees. I do agree that real ones are prettier. @kimberbeep I absolutely hate peppermint. Or anything mint flavoured. I love the fruity candy canes!
My UO: I guess hating mint should be my UO. Even just the idea of mint chocolate chip ice cream grosses me out.
@Spylon I agree about mint chocolate chip. Just the thought of it makes me almost dry heave. @kristah2 Like voicemails on your cell phone? I think voicemals are pointless. I see you called... no need to leave me a message telling me you called.
My UO: Fireball whiskey is the most terrible of all alcohols. This UO formed after being the only one who refused a shot of it last night.

@catlady2015 I love Pb. The worst part about living in Russia is they don't swell pb and especially bad was no Reese's anything.
@Dilynne all jam and jelly has its place and use: eating by the spoonful with tea, sandwiches, etc. @SkilledSailor my dad always claimed we had pine allergies so we always had our fake tree. He still has the same one we had when I was little, but yeah all that plastic is probably not great. @kimberbeep and @Spylon mint is the best.
@kristah2 voicemail is only appropriate for business when texting isn't an option. My UO: I hate voicemail (leaving and getting). Just text please. And if you are going to leave a voicemail, speak clearly so my phone can decode it into text so I don't have to listen to it. Although the worst is if someone calls several times as if it's an emergency but doesn't leave a voicemail or text.

@eleven_ and @matryoshkadoll I should have clarified.. I work in insurance and I often have to get a hold of people regarding their policies. Most people have no email on file, just phone numbers. I don't care to have to call people back repeatedly (when they very well could work the same hours I do, making it impossible to ever get an answer) when I could just leave a voicemail with the details I need them to know or provide back to me.
@eleven_@Spylon *gasp* No mint chocolate chip ice cream? It's one of the best flavors out there! @Dilynne Agreed, I hate it when jam has chunks in it. Ick!
AFM: I don't eat organic food and I think GMOs are awesome. I roll my eyes every time I see a product advertised as non-GMO.
@Dilynne I totally agree that PB is awesome and jam shouldn't have chunks, but PB as a hiccup cure? I've never heard that before! @SkilledSailor I strongly prefer real trees, but we have to have a fake one because otherwise our cat will eat pine needles and get really sick. After one year of cleaning up green puke from all over the house and taking a very, very unhappy cat to the vet we opted for a fake one. @offtoneverland I eat almost all organic food and am skeptical of GMOs (but willing to be convinced by solid research). With regard to organics, many pesticides in the US contain phthalates still, which are not good for ttc.
My UO: I hate chiropractors and think that chiropractics can be really dangerous and damaging. (Context: My neck is sore right now and I'm sick of people telling me to see a chiropractor!)
@darkstar42 It really upsets me many insurance plans cover chiro but not acupuncture. Chiropractic can be very dangerous.
I also agree people should just text me or call back. I loathe checking voicemail. However, with visual voicemail, I don’t mind getting Hem because I can usually read them.
This is more personal/relevant to me. TW pregnancy mentioned.
I’m not sure how much they do it, but when my parents buy my sister pregnancy craving foods, they should send me some #bitterhagsofttgp #feelsorryforyourself food.
@jrm_14 Yay for getting a gasp out of you! lol @darkstar42 I'll just stick this here (ETA: You can eat whatever you want! Not trying to tell you not to to eat organic...you do you!) In fact, organic farmers do use pesticides. The only difference is that they're "natural" instead of "synthetic." At face value, the labels make it sound like the products they describe are worlds apart, but they aren't. A pesticide, whether it's natural or not, is a chemical with the purpose of killing insects (or warding off animals, or destroying weeds, or mitigating any other kind of pest, as our watchful commenters have correctly pointed out). Sadly, however, "natural" pesticides aren't as effective, so organic farmers actually end up using more of them! Moreover, we actually know less about the effects of "natural" pesticides. Link: https://www.realclearscience.com/blog/2014/06/the_biggest_myth_about_organic_farming.html
@offtoneverland I don't want to get too much into debating this, but I am familiar with what organic farmers use. My brother is an organic farmer. At the very least non-synthetic equals no phthalates. Perhaps we can agree that the best case scenario is to buy local, so you know the folks who are growing your food and can talk to them about how they manage their crops.
@darkstar42 Oh cool! I didn't know that about your brother. I've met a lot of people who think organic means no pesticides (and I used to think that too) so I just assumed that's what you had meant by your comment. My bad! And I don't want to debate it either, I hate debating.
@offtoneverland I totally agree that a lot of folks have no real understanding of organic. I think it's pretty awesome that you think critically about all this stuff and question popular opinions! *hugs* friend.
My UO....I love debates. I just hate when someone gets all butt hurt and makes it personal. I just wish they'd keep to facts.
My other one deals with men, so it would probably only be an UO with them, but I hate hate hate when a man just has to tell me I'm wrong about something that I know they know nothing or very little about = My UO is "mansplaining" is real and it's annoying AF
@offtoneverland@wishiwaspreggo I'm a hippie against GMOs but for reasons other than preferring organic (which I do). My biggest issue with GMOs is that they can be patented and companies can go after local farmers if they believe some of their patented product (read: seeds) has ended up on the local farm's land. It's BS. This is a hot topic for me.
@SkilledSailor I've actually heard that that's a myth. Interesting article from NPR here. But I absolutely am not an expert in this area and I only know what I've read online, which obviously is not always true. I mostly just get upset at the non-GMO labeling. It makes it sound like GMOs are in everything, when really there are only a couple. I get so irritated seeing non-GMO labels on tomatoes or popcorn...there are no such thing as GMO tomatoes or popcorn! But yeah, your reasoning is valid if that truly is the case. That's a pretty crappy thing to do. @josie12367 I absolutely hate confrontation so I hate debating! Plus I'm really bad at trying to make a point while I'm speaking (I'm much better when I can write out my thoughts). @darkstar42 I missed it earlier, but I agree about chiropractors. Don't do it! @wishiwaspreggo
So just an FYI jam is meant to have fruit in it, but jelly has all the fruit chunks strained out before canning. My parents are master food preservers and they did a lot of canning when I was growing up.
My UO is that I hate when people praise me for doing my job, just because they didn’t expect me to get my hands dirty because I’m a woman.

@offtoneverland There was a case on it (although the guy did do something sketchy) so there is a basis for companies to sue, they just often don’t because of publicity. Also the seed saving issue. I’m mobile so here’s a cursory article. I’m honestly against a lot of major companies acting like dicks and Monsanto is just on my sh*t list. I do agree the labeling of food is silly and largely arbitrary. I’ve taken several nutrition classes and was shocked to learn about the labeling laws. Only 70% of ingredients need to be organic for them to have “organic” listed on the packaging. Sneaky sneaky

I think fake Christmas trees are not only not as pretty but horrible for the environment.
@SkilledSailor - I've only ever had fake trees. I've been lead to believe by the media that real trees will catch fire and burn down my house...
